  • Piiper...I feel the same way about losing a lot and still not looking that different. I'v finally lost over half the weight I need to and I don't think I look that different, although others are starting to make comments about the real zoe face coming back. LOL

EVERYONE...I am on a small mission to get some more flattering clothes and lose the frumpy, too big stuff.

First stop...the Wonder Bra style 7880. People keep raving about this little miracle worker. I need to get my boobies back up where they belong.

Capris...so I can look more summery?

less baggy shirts but not too tight. my boob to belly ratio is about 50/50. I haven't figured out the best style for this body. suggestions?

this is day two of lower cals. I'm glad to be doing better.
  • Good Month...
    Hi Everyone,

It's been about a month since my last post but I'm almost in the 150's...how long has it been?...3 years I guess. That's just amazing how long it took for me to finally get with it and start counting the calories and doing more exercise. I feel so much better!!

I'm staying around 1400 cals a day and lately it hasn't been near as hard to just stop when I hit my limit....some days that has been by 4 p.m. I just don't eat again and at first, that was hard but now I'm used to it.

I'm not ready to go out and buy any clothes yet because, I hope, they will be too big in a few months. I did, however, have to go out and buy a few new bras...I guess you lose it everywhere!

I keep reading the posts and everyone is doing so well....all the encouragement makes a big difference!
  • Good Evening Everyone!!

Calories for today 1777 a bit high, but it's ok
    Fiber 26 grams

CoolMom- Though I'm not close to my goal yet, I do hear ya on the clothes issue. Capris are a great start!! I wear them all the time....though I know they work on longer legs, but I wear them anyways. LOL

    GeorgiaLady- Way to go!!!!!!!

Well have a great one everyone!
  • hey everyone....I totally fell off the wagon...not totally but close enough...but i'm hoping i've over that now and can get this going again. I have such a stinking hard time sticking to anything...I have ZERO willpower...anyone have some they can sell??? ;-)

I hope you're all doing really great!...I can honestly say it's good to be back!

Has anyone been to Baja Fresh lately? I'm wondering what happened? I was very disappointed, I think they've gone down hill a lot. There were fewer menu choices and the food seemed slightly more processed and less fresh. I wonder if it's just the one we go to?

I look up my restaurant nutrition data on a great website. It's the diet facts website (I know they don't like links on 3fc so just Google diet facts.) If you use fitday you can import the nutrition info from their site to fitday. It's cool! They have lots of restaurants on there. I like not having to add it separately.

DH invited some coworkers over for dinner tomorrow night, so I may be high on calories tomorrow. I'm hoping to not go too over board though. It's three guys who are coming over, so I'm banking on them eating a lot so there are no leftovers (I hope.) I'm making these cute little caprese appetizers (marinated mini mozzarella balls with cherry tomatoes and basil on toothpicks.) Then we are having pasta carbonara (with ww penne), salad, and garlic crostini. Plus, a prosecco to start with and then a nice spicy syrah. The grand finale is a chocolate marmalade cake (unfrosted with a sprinkle of powdered sugar.) Okay, after typing all this I realize I'm in trouble. I hope the boys devor it before I can get any. Lol.

CoolMom~ Those bras are a wonder! Capris are great, but I have short legs and I have a hard time finding ones that don't look like long pants that are too short. I have cuffed my jeans up to look like capris though and it's cute. Have you tried on any empire waisted shirts? Not the flowy ones, the kind that lay flat on the body, but emphasize up top a bit more? I like those for hiding my extra roll that refuses to go away (it's weird and it gets smaller, but it won't leave!) I try to stay away from the flowy ones though because they look like maternity shirts to me.

heath13~ Life gets the best of all of us sometimes. I have weeks when I have no control too, but as long as you don't give up it will get easier. Try not to focus on last week too much. The big picture (over the long run) is more important than one week!

    GeorgiaLady~

Tinky~ You have three 7's in your calorie count for Friday the 13th! That must count for some luck or something.
  • I've been "perfectly on program" for six straight days now!

Went to a car show (walk-walk-walk) with my son last night and ate out at a veggie restaurant with some friends. I looked up the menu ahead of time, figured out what would fit with my targets for the day and ordered that. I ate it all and felt totally STUFFED, but was still under for the day. YAY!

Thanks to Zenor77, I dug out my (virtually untouched) Moosewood Low-Fat cookbook last night and picked three new recipes to try this week. We did a big shop today and there's NO JUNK FOOD in my house at all. My DS had a great time picking out unusual fruits (champagne grapes were his favorite -- "they're so cute!")

Zenor -- hoping the boys clean up the table for you. Sounds like a fun evening! (I love diet facts, too!)

Jeanette -- little changes every day add up to big differences in your life. From your fitday, it looks like you've got a little bit of a soda addiction -- maybe start there and switch to iced tea (sweetened with a little sugar, it's still fewer calories than soda) or crystal light or better yet, water! you have the power to do this, you really do!

Tinky -- you're doing great, and we can afford those "high days" once in awhile now that we're staying low on so many other days. After I go a little high, I always remind myself that I USED to eat MORE than that EVERY day.

Georgialady -- congrats on hitting the 150s

Coolmom -- I agree with zenor on the empire waist blouses...you might even try a spanx cami under a regular shirt (though I find spanx kinda itchy, they do smooth you out so you look better in your clothes)

Oh my gosh, that's so cool! I didn't know that! And the food, once you add it, even stays in your custom food list.

    Thanks for the tip!
  • queenjane....you are so right...I don't know why but that is my number one problem....soda...I can't stand any diet soda i've ever tried so I try to justify by "allotting" soda into my calorie count...which means i'm ditching the good for you foods....I bought these water flavorings today and i've told myself I have to put those in place of soda or i'm going nowhere with this. I just sit and look at my "gut" and shake my head and tell myself it's worse that my ex-husbands beer belly....lol which is a crying shame! Thank you very much for your advice...any little bit makes a difference!

my weigh in is tomorrow so I am really nervous. I drank 12 oz of soymilk and had 8 oz of yogurt so I'm afraid i'm going to gain weight (you can only have 16 oz of dairy on south beach phase one). I ate low sodium today which was really hard! I didn't realize how much sodium i eat on a daily basis!

Tonight went well, although we still have half the cake left. Nigela Lawson is evil I tell you! Her recipes are so good, but so caloric (the cake recipe is from one of her books.) I think I may make DH take it in to work on Monday. Let other people eat it!

I'm down two more pounds and five away from my goal. I'm so ready to be done! I'm scared about maintaining, but I'm just going to have to tackle that like I've done with the weight loss. It's weird, with all this weight coming off I'm starting to feel more like the real me. I know that sounds silly, but the weight came on due to depression that stemmed from a lot of loss that occurred in my family. I feel like I've been able to let go of some things along with the weight. It's strange to me. I never realized I had so much emotional baggage wrapped up in the extra weight I was carrying around. I'm much more confident now (like I used to be.) It's certainly been an interesting journey so far.

RockNroll~ Sodium will get ya! Isn't it amazing how much there is in some foods! They sneak it into a lot of stuff. If you keep up the low sodium you'll find that you don't have a taste for it anymore. At least that's what's happened to me.

queenjane~ I've had my Moosewood Low-fat Favorites for years and I never used it until I started on my weight loss journey. I love it! There are so many great recipes in it!
  • Hi Girls,
Its been a busy week, and Does not look like it is going to be any different next week.

That’s s good thing. Busy times keep me from eating.
I have not been loosing this last few weeks. Or gaining.
I have been to Curves as usual, but not working out at home. And I don’t know if my schedule this week will let me have time.

Next week I have to make a big decision…
Friday, I was offered a job at Curves.

With a free pass for exercising. More hrs. and less driving, (gas usage). I live only 1 mile from Curves. So I should save big $ bucks on gas too. Although I am not sure I won’t be bored to death, standing there talking while the others are working out.

But, it sounds like a chance to have the easiest job I have ever been offered. And sneak in extra work outs at the same time.

My calories for the last 2 weeks has averaged 1550.
    Fiber: 37 gr.
Not to good. Not to bad.
That includes our dinner at Olive garden and holidays.
Tonight won’t be good either. My kids are having my bday dinner at my son’s house.
Food on the grill, cake and ice cream.
Bad! me! Oh well, you only turn 50 once. I will be to busy to over eat next week anyway.

The 28th of this month will be the last party till sept 12th.
So August should be a better month.
Anyway, I am going to try to be good at eating this week, and if time lets me work out on my elliptical.

In fact that’s where I am going in a minute.

Just have to tell all you girls, CONGRATS on your weight losses.
Someone has to be keep up the good job, sounds like most of you have.
  • Hi everyone
I haven't posted in what seems like forever. Been a really busy week, got a call for testing at a new job!! Went Friday and did that and passed them so now I have a interview on Monday. It's kinda like a dream job in my field, plus the pay is almost $4.00 more a hour!!! Maybe I will actually feel like I am being paid my worth and what I went to school for (I have a degree in this field). So hopefully by the end of next week I hope to know something!

Calorie wise well I haven't been the greatest eating more than what I ususally do. My weight has been changing from 135 to 137.4. This morning it was back to 135 exactly, which I think it would have been lower if I wouldn't have had those fries at the bar last night, but it was a terrible craving and I haven't had any bar food since October I think. Thank gosh that my dh was there and he ate half of them or I would have been really bad.

So my goal from here to August 14th is to loose the last pesky 6 lbs or get really close, I don't want to gain any more and I don't want to maintain !!

On a side note, had to go buy some new clothes for the interview and testing and well I have decide that I don't like the way they are making pants fit. If i were to get the regular pants in my size they are a mile to long and the hips are huge. So I get the petite and those are alittle tighter around the waist but the length is ok, until I sit down. UGH!!! Drives me nuts, we went to like 4 different stores!! Finally found a few at JC Penney I just hope they don't shrink when I wash them.

Ok I am going to go back and read through the posts!! Everyone have a great week and keep up the good work!!
    Mary
  • Morning!
I like RocknRoll's avatar but where are the wrinkles around that bellybutton???

    For everyone! For free!

I'm not sure what to type this morning. I've had an awesome couple of weeks and am very happy! However, while I am a huge supporter of calorie counting (it is IMHO the best way to lose weight) I really think my good fortune this Spring has alot to do with walking.
Fitday won't do three months for me so I'm guesstimating a bit here but I'm averaging around 1600 cals and have been for some time. And it's all good!
I remember freaking out that I was going over 1200 cals. I remember cutting down on carbs to keep my cals low ... Who'd have thought that 1600 cals would be fine? ... more than fine.
Keep in mind that I'm thinking back over a three year period here. That in itself could be discouraging. It would have been for me 3 yrs ago.
Apparently patience is a virtue. I'm not patient. Are you patient? No? then go for a walk
  • Did a happy dance this morning, stepped on the scale and I am 10 pounds from goal. Going to do some clothes closet shopping today, hope to get into my white pants before summer is over.
SusanB , congratulations on your great weight loss success.
  • I just had the funniest weigh in! I stepped on the scale and it read 147.5
I was sort of let down because I thought I would have lost weight. Then in my head I went: well you started this week on south beach phase one at 151.8 pounds so thats a HUGE weekly loss! I talked myself into a good mood and then came on here to update and realized that I had lost a pound! I didn't weigh 147.5 i was 148.5 before!

Needless to say I'm super excited for my 4.3 pounds lost this week
