Default Disappointed in myself

I'm so angry at myself! I went to spend some time with good friends yesterday, and caved to the peer pressure. I had an entire package of Ben and Jerry's chessecake ice cream, which adds up to over 1,000 calories! And the worst part is that I didn't even really enjoy it that much, it was more like I was just eating it because it was there. I didn't check the calories until after I ate it, and that was a biiig mistake, I wish I had looked before, because then I would have known to just eat a half cup... I'm thinking for today that I'm just going to live off of salad mix, just to make up for all that ice cream I ate...I guess I've learned my lesson again--a few minutes of bad food isn't worth it....This lesson is something I'm really going to have to drill in for once my diet is over, or else I'm in big trouble!

Oh, by the way, does anyone else here eat Skinny Cow Fudge Bars? I'm a little disappointed in the HFCS in them, but it's only 50 Cals for a bar, and they're really good! What do you think of them?

Hi

First off - okay, stop beating yourself up now - there... no - stop it! It was a day - a bad one - but it's over. Come on, get back on the horse. Here, let me give you a hand - there you go! Dust it off, and don't do that one again We've all done the same or similar, and the point is to keep going. Ask yourself why you ate the Ben and Jerry's, maybe even journal that you DIDN'T enjoy it, and move on. Learn from it and let it go.

Now - Skinny Cow - oh my goodness, I love Love LOVE these! They are ALWAYS in my freezer. (and the Breyers Fudge Bars, too - which are 70cals/bar, but a lot 'fluffier') Don't know which bars you have, mine are 90 cal/bar, but they are SO good - satisfy sugar, chocolate and 'junk' cravings if they hit. In fact, often, I'll have one after a meal so that I DON'T want anything later on!

I honestly wouldn't be without them. Are they a different size there? (are you in the States?) or is this a slightly different product, maybe? I'm going to go look at my box... right, 1bar=100ml=90cal and 1g fat. I do know I could get them in caramel/Vanilla as well, but I am not a 'caramel' fan.

Don't beat yourself up over your ice cream binge. It's over, get back on track and move on. I have tried Skinny Cow and liked them but can't have them in the house cuz I can't eat just one, I'll eat the whole darn package, they are just as bad as Ben and Jerry in that respect.

Trust me I know the feeling. You feel awful during and after eating it. But, you already ate it, there's nothing you can do about it now, learn from it, and keep up your hard work I know how bad it feels but the next day you can start fresh again. I haven't tried the Skinny Cow fudge bars but I loooove their Ice cream sandwiches They are 140 calories and soooo good!!!

Everyone has days like that! The most important thing is that you overcome it and not let one bad day turn into two, and then into three...and so on...
You can do this!

Just wanted to re-iterate what everyone else said...I've been there and done that myself and I know how you feel!! Don't beat yourself up...its done and over...you've been honest with yourself about it and now you can move on and know that you are human!! Today is a new day!!

Hey just from my own personal experience, it is much better to forgive yourself and move on. Eating too much one day and then trying to make up for it by eating too little the next day just set me up for a nasty binge/starve/binge/starve cycle that was hard to break. Just eat normally today. Good luck!

Everyone is right! You just gotta get up and dust your shoulders off!!! WE have ALL been down this road, some more than others, but don't let it get you down.
Today is another day....

Thank you everyone for your support! It made me feel TONS better, and I ate pretty regularly, so hopefully all will end well . To answer your question, Heather Angel, I'm in the states, and they were there mini-fudge pops . I finished the whole box in the course of a week and a half, without going over my calorie restrictions, which was awesome! But, I went back for more and my grocery store was out of them...So, I settled for the Breyers 100 cal packs to satiate my sweet tooth. I had one, and I think it's the perfect size, and it may not be the healthiest thing...But sometimes you just need a little (emphasis on the little, lol, I need to work on that) ice cream.

Glad you are feeling better! It happens to all of us and it's only a problem if you end up quiting. Since you aren't you're doing great!

I just finished a box of Skinny Cow Fudge bars, but mine were 100 cals per bar and no HFCS. They do have regular corn syrup (which I'm not too fond of either) and sugar alcohols. The sugar alcs bothered my tummy though, so even though they were yummy, I won't buy them again.

Today, we didn't count calories because it is my youngest daughter's 11th birthday. We didn't go crazy- we had no breakfast (everyone chose to do that on their own, lol), had a nice lunch at Friendly's, some popcorn and Slurpy's at the movies, and just had some cake and ice cream a few minutes ago. I felt she deserved one free day without counting, and although we joined her, we were all still aware of portion sizes today, and didn't do too badly. Tommorrow, we will be back on track again, counting calories and measuring portions. I don't feel guilty, as special occasions do come up that you should enjoy yourself, so long as you don't gorge yourself while enjoying some yummies.

To me, these are the days that keep you on track the rest of the time you're dieting- you have something to look forward to every once in awhile to break up the monotany of dieting.

Zenor~ I'll have to look for the regular corn syrup types! I'm sorry that they upset your tummy, though

Steelslady~ My friend said something like that to me the other day when I told her I started a diet. She said that she heard that you should only diet 6 days a week, so that you have something to keep you going the rest of the time. I thought that sounded like a great idea, but I think I'll wait until I've lost a few more pounds to start that . My brother's birthday's coming up soon...So I'll have to plan to splurge a little, then...

Clairinator-

My friend was on the Atkins diet and did the same thing as your friend suggested- she dieted strictly for six days, then allowed herself to have carbs on the seventh day as a treat. She lost over a hundred pounds within 8 months, so it obviously worked for her. It all depends on how much discipline you have during the week, and just be careful on the seventh day. For instance, she still had some proteins on her seventh day, but added toast in the morning with her eggs, added bread to her luncheon meat instead of salad stuff for lunch, and dinner she either had pizza or Chinese food. She had a small bit of dessert, but made sure she didn't over do the calorie aspect of it. If you can do that, then more power to you. I don't know if I could do it every week myself. Special occasions, fine, but if I start thinking I can allow myself to enjoy the seventh day every week, God knows how much I'll eat. What is one person's poison is another person's pleasure.

Here's something funny to share- my youngest daughter has been begging me to get the Ab Lounger. She got an elliptical last year for her birthday, and still uses it almost everyday. Today, we got her her ab lounger, and both her and my oldest daughter love it so much- they took turns using it all night, lol. How many kids that age ask for exercise equipment for their birthday? Oh, and she told me for Christmas, all she wants is a kayak. I told her Santa will bring her one- she started laughing at me and said "Mom, you're Santa" and I told her, "Indeed, Amanda, and you're talking to the right person!" I guess I'll be bringing home a kayak in December from Dick's Sporting Goods.

Steelsmom.
My hubby got an ab lounge for me for mothers day.
its the best mother's day gift he has gotten me in almost 28 yrs.
Even though I still have a tummy... it is getting harder under the chub.

By the time I loose the rest of my weight. I hope to have great abs.

Oh, I bought the elliptical 2 weeks before that. I love it to. Better than Our treadmill. I come home after going to curves, and use the first two.

you are a great mom, to get the kids involved with learning to eat good and excercise. congrats.

Steels lady and littlered~
You guys are making me want to move out of my house so badly! I've been wanting to get something as simple as a treadmill for when I'm home from college, but there is so little space in our house. My father invested in a gigantic all-in-one gym years ago that we used to keep in our basement (it took up half the room!), but we had to take it down for space....Maybe I should make it my duty to clear out our guest room and set it up again ^^. Ooh, sorry, that turned into quite the ramble!

In any case, yay for exercise equipment, and kids love of it! Man, what a great way to grow up--loving exercise!
