Calorie Counters Chat-April 2007

Hi All,
I've never started the monthly thread before but I needed to post :)
I've been MIA from 3FC for the last few weeks..finals and then travelling for spring break. I went to Italy, didn't count anything, ate too much bread and pasta no vegtebles and hardly any fruit. Needless to say my body was not happy. I thought I gained 5 pounds but in the week i've been back 3 have disappeared. So it's a 2 pound gain but hey I had a good time :)
Today is April 1st and i'm back to counting calories. No doubt those two extra pounds will be gone soon and hopefully I'll get to losing the rest :)
Have a good day.

nomorefatpants 04-01-2007 10:11 AM

Fiber One?

I just looked at the end of the March chat and Phyllis asked a question I had too. Can you ladies re-share (sorry) your thoughts on Fiber One. I looked it up last night when I read that post and plan on getting some next time I go to the market but I too missed the Fiber one chat and a search of the threads just brought up any post that mentioned fiber. Thanks!

srmb60 04-01-2007 12:08 PM

Good April Morning CC's!

I'll begin my new month with a summary. In March I averaged 1565 cals per day. I walk/jogged over 50 kms. And lost just short of four pounds.

As for April, I think I'd like to do that again.

honeyjobear 04-01-2007 06:46 PM

hahah. i like your screenname, nomorefatpants. hahah. that's right! ok, so yeah, I am a fan of Fiber One. It has no sugar, but for some reason it still tastes kinda sweet! I like it with or without milk. It only has like 60 calories too per 1/2 cup. Oh but be careful, I was eating it out of the box during my midterm week -- and I ate like half the bag ... it sent me to the bathroom a bunch of times! Fiber overload! I lost like 3 pounds! Haha! Anyway, I'm not sure what the other people think of it, but I like it! The Fiber One bars are good too :)

Justme33 04-01-2007 09:39 PM

All this talk about Fiber one I keep forgetting to go buy a box when I'm at the store!! Everytime BEFORE I leave I say to myself must get a box...come home forget...Anyways, I just ordered it from amazon....LOL I keep forgetting while I'm out they have it so I bought it...(I shop for a lot of snacks and groceries there....I'm weird) SO by Wed. I'll have my 4 boxes!!

hi, everyone.
just wanted to say that I went out to eat, and stayed on plan. my total for today was OK.

Spent the evening at the emergency room.
Hubby decided to work on my very old tread mill. without turning it off. Goof Ball!
He has 2 broken finger tips, where the machine grabbed his fingers. hurts lots. but not as bad as it sounds.(Thank God!!)
They just look a like he bruised the finger nails. Hope he can go on light duty for a week or 2-3. He will turn it off first next time!

I have to take him to a bone Dr. in the morning, and get my equipment for a 24 hr. Something to do with the possible Apnea.
Hope I have time to work out in the early morning, before the fun starts.

here is my numbers for today.

Total:
Cal: 1466
Fat: 26%
Carbs: 43%
Fiber: 49
Protein: 32%

Hope you all had a great weekend ;)
bed time.

zenor77 04-01-2007 10:28 PM

GrammyL and Anyone interested~ Here is my TVP sloppy joe recipe. I'm not sure how similar it is to Bobbi's, sorry if it's just a repeat! :D

TVP Sloppy Joes

2 green bell peppers, chopped
2 onions, chopped
1 1/2 cups boiling water
2 1/2 cups tomato sauce (3 little cans--I use no salt added)
1 1/2 cups TVP (textured vegetable protein)
2 T Mustard
1 T Chili powder
1/2 t salt
1 T low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 t black pepper
1 t sugar of choice (I use brown--you could probably omit it too.)

In a large covered frying pan, "saute" onions and peppers in water. When mostly cooked, add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook on medium, for 20 minutes, covered, stirring occasionally. When done serve over toast, english muffins, or rice.

Serves 6
per serving: 149 calories, 1 gram of fat, 21 grams of carbs, 7.5 grams of fiber, and 14.5 grams of protein.

We like ours on english muffins. Yummy! Thanks Allison for reminding me how good these are!!! :hun:

zenor77 04-01-2007 10:37 PM

Calories for today 1457

Fat 27%

Fiber 65 grams :broc: That's my highest yet! I didn't even have my high fiber cereal this morning either.

Littlered~ Congratulations are doing so well this weekend! :woohoo: Too bad your DH injured himself. :( I hope he heals quickly!

I hope everyone has a great evening! I'm off to walk the puppy.

CoolMom75 04-02-2007 12:45 AM

It was a great weekend! I was a little low in cals today at 1400 (1700 goal), but it all evens out over the week. You all are a good influence...I bought some more Fiber One and some strawberries to top it off.

I also see I am probably getting a lot more fiber than Fitday shows. I just plugged in a wheat bread that matched in calories, instead of putting in my high fiber bread. Anyone else lazy like that with Fitday? :D I never put in things like slices of tomato and pickle on my sandwich, or mustard.

rockinrobin 04-02-2007 08:27 AM

Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a fantastic weekend.

Welcome abetterme!!!

Coolmom, I don't bother with Fitday much at all. I did in the beginning, but I eat the same breakfast everyday, so I know the calorie count. I eat one of several lunches everyday, so again I've already worked out the calorie count and my dinners, the same thing. I already know the calorie counts of EVERYTHING that I'm eating is. So I do the math mentally in my brain. Of course when I add a new food to my menu, I look that up. I also don't precisely measure my vegetables. I eat A LOT of veggies in a day. A LOT. I always approximate UP. That's why I always right "about" before I type in my calories for the day.

Having said that, I had a real good weekend. Saturday's calories - about 1100, Sunday's calories - about 1150. Got in a decent amount of exercise as well and was rewarded today on weigh-in day. I am down 4 lbs!!!! to 173.

Have a great day everyone. Healthy and safe.

Justme33 04-02-2007 09:22 AM

WELCOME Abetterme!!!!

rockinrobin: WAY TO GO!!!! I've been soooo stuck at the same weight for a few weeks now!! NOT FUN!! I think though the weight has stayed the same, my body is changing, clothes is fitting better!! but I still want to see the numbers go down!!

Yesterday was about 1100 calories....I woke up SOOOOO hungry this morning. I normally dont even think about food until about 9am but boy my tummy is growling today!!

srmb60 04-02-2007 09:24 AM

I'm having some meandering thoughts about planning today. I think it's a combination of something I posted and something Rockinrobin said ...

I did a little research to see how I'd done last month. From there I picked a calorie number (lower of course) and posted it as my plan for April ... or this week or whatever thread I was in ... like a wish.
"Make it so numba one!"
Now when I go back and check for April it'll be 1501, right?
Uh ... no ... numba one will have to plan the coordinates, methinks. And I'm numba one.

Do you have any idea how many times I've told someone that their plan can't be "I wanna be XYZ by suchandsuchadate"?

I did do a daily planning thread a couple of times last week. It must have been in the back of my mind to be more specific, to actually have a plan. But more often, I kinda let the day be a crapshoot and assessed the damage in the evening.

Today I have to do a kitchen assessment, make a weekly real-life to-do assessment, reread the Body for Life food lists, make a list and get a few groceries. Then I have to query about 5 meals a day of about 250 or 300 cals and actually aim for under 1500 cals per day (insteaded of hoping that my week will divide by seven to make something like 1500 cals).

Now that's a proper plan.

floridarusty 04-02-2007 09:32 AM

Hi everyone, well I lost .5 over the week-end and that includes hosting a cocktail party last night!!!! So I am very happy.

Will start my fitday today. But I also eat the almost the same breakfast and lunch everyday so I pretty much know where I am at dinner time. I have to watch the p.m. snacks.

So I guess that eating Fiber one for breakfast, sprinkling it on foods and just snacking on it plain is what some of you are doing, correct. I will try that. I do know from past experience with it if I eat too much I will be going to the bathroom way too much.

Doing my walking DVD today.....Everyone have a great week, Phyllis

Justme33 04-02-2007 09:43 AM

Just curious what is your worst time of day for snacking?? I know a lot of people have a problem at late nights....After 6pm-7pm I rarely am hungry and dont ever snack (even when I was heavy) MY HUGE problem is about 1:30pm-3pmish.....Thats the time I'm done with the work I needed to do during the day (I work at home) and I'm taking a little break before the kids get home....thats also the time I find myself the most hungry and if I mess up and eat too much its then!! I purposely try and stay busy around that time so that I dont eat too much....

Bobbolink 04-02-2007 09:49 AM

Good Morning!
I just got back from giving my sweethearts (hens) their morning treats (cut up Thompsom grapes and raw cabbage) and noticed my daffodils, tulips and crocus are all up. Yipee, spring is really here!
My fiber yesterday was 51 grams.
Welcome back Phyllis, we haven't seen you for a while. I eat Fiber One every way possible EXCEPT WITH MILK. Yuk! But then I don't like milk on any cereal. I sprinkle it on top of foods to add a crunchy texture.
F. One ~ dry (I go thru the whole box and put it all in 1 serving snack zip bags)
Pudding ~ F.One ~ C. Whip
Jello-0 ~ F.One ~ C. Whip
Applesauce ~ F.One ~ C.Whip & cinnamon
Coconut Pie (crustless), sprinkle F.One on top of it for a crunchy up-side-down crust. This is really yummy!
Last night I made Chow Mein and used F. One on top instead of the crispy chow mein noodles. These have 130 calories in 25 gram/5 grams of fat so only DH eats them.
If you make trail mix, you can add it to that too!

Susan... :congrat: You are so steady, 4 lbs. down again. I'll have to check my stats too, it's good to look back and see what's been accomplished.

Theresa...

Ouch, Ouch, Ouch! And what a sweet helpful hubbie you have. 49 grams of Fiber, great!

Awesome! The Apple cranberry Fiber cake you listed in your fitday sounds good, what is it? Calores are low too @ 80.

:welcome: Betterme

Originally Posted by :

I'm a calorie counting geek and I put everything in. The tomato and pickle not only adds calories but it also records all the important stuff like the RDA%, (vitamins, etc)I also put in my daily vitamins that I take. But I made that easy on Fitday, I put them all under one label. I'm a stay at home person and have the time to record everything. Working moms/wives need to have their priorities in the right order and recording every mouthful would take some serious dedication. If this works for you and you continue to loss, go for it. It's certainly working for Robin.

Speaking of Robin, another great weight loss, 4 pounds!:goodscale:
Good morning to all that haven't posted lately. I tend to only comment on the day before.

DH is going to be gone for the next 4 or 5 days. He's taking his mom over to Rochester Clinic for some tests so I'll have to do Chickens/Cat/Dog/Wild birds duties. Oh, and "Hungry Jack", he our Fighting Beta fish. We call him hungry jack because he swims up to the top of the tank every time we walk by looking for food. Now he needs to start using portion control!

Later....Bobbi

GrammyL 04-02-2007 10:12 AM

Justme ~ Congrats on the halfway marker! Your right 6 lbs in the right direction is fantastic. Sounds like you are like me and just want this done and over with but I have so far to go that I can’t get impatient. For me I know slow is better so my skin has time to come back. I take all my old cloths to Goodwill and donate them.

Claire ~ DH as home all weekend so she stayed away. I talked with DH and my boss about what they think I should do because they both know my personality well, DH better than my boss but my boss is a people person and DH isn’t. Both said the same thing, just tell here you going to ride your horse or drive the pony because you already got your exercise in for the day. She used to say but what about walking your dog. Last year I started walking my dog before I went to work because I realized that she is to lazy in the morning to walk, so it was me time and it got me in the right state of mind for the day.

Zenor ~ Those are the best treats. I can never come up with anything that I want or need. Thanks for the recipe, I am going to give it a try. I have always been a big fan of Sloppy Joes since I was a kid. Probably because my Dad hated them.

I really think they need to stop making those tight shirts. I work at a university and these young ladies where them and they are so unflattering unless they are a tooth pick. I refuse to buy them because I don’t want to show my bulges.

Bobby ~ My childhood was the same way. Always wanted a horse but my Dad wouldn’t let me. We had the property just he felt its a novelty and something that wasn’t needed. So, my DH bought me a horse for my birthday, what a nag but it was a horse. I boarded her and after 5 months of dealing with her we sold her and bought Smoke. I have had him every since. He more than made up for my nasty first horse.

Theresa ~ OH, I was cringing for your DH’s fingers. Last year I got a sliver under my finger nail that I couldn’t pull out that went almost up to the base and they pealed my finger nail up without any pain killer. My poor DD had to hold a light for the doctor while he was doing it and blood was going everywhere. I looked up and she was ghost white and clammy looking so we made her sit down. All I can say is I know why they used that as a torture method. I would have spilled my guts to get that guy to stop.

Zoe ~ I am more than lazy with FitDay. I am always tinkering with the numbers to make them match what I read on the package. I really like having all the calculations but don’t like adding and it takes me less than a minute to do it.

Rockinrobin ~ I agree, I already keep a food journal and have been debating on just using fit day to look things up or use it just during the week because DH is going to be home on the weekends now and he doesn’t mind me doing my journal but frowns on the internet because that is time better spent as family time.

I had a wonderful weekend but now I realize why I gain on weekends while DH is home. Its not that he slips me his thyroid medicine (hehehehe), its the lack of movement. I never realized until this weekend how much my DH likes to watch TV. I was within my calorie range to lose every single day but no loss for me. Some of it is probably water because DH wanted a nice ham dinner. I ate lots of cabbage, carrots, small potato and limited the ham to 3 oz but I still felt bloated this morning. Its already leaving so that is good.

We were also brave and went to the new Super Wal*Mart this weekend. I bought my Lite Flatout’s (tomato, Italian, wheat), and some other goodies. It really is an amazing store but not a place I would stop after work to just pick something up. Its to large and busy for me. I didn’t realize it but the Flatout’s that I bought at Kroger are not the lite and have 140 calories with less fiber. I am not sure what to do with them but I am not going to eat them. GRRRR! Next time I will be paying attention.

Well I better get going and talk at you all later. I am going to do department errands to get some exercise.

Jman1 04-02-2007 10:22 AM

Hey!!!:D

Last week was my first week that I ran a significant calorie deficit in a long time. I'm so excited! :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: I slipped up a little bit on Saturday and Sunday (about 500 calories over each) but I didn't totally lose it like last weekend (more like 2000 over! :o) The scale this morning says I'm down EIGHT since last week but I think I'm pretty dehydrated, so I'm not going to count it unless it's still there tomorrow.

Thanks for being here everyone! You help keep me motivated.

My worst time is from the time I get home until dinner is on the table. Sometimes I have to just leave the kitchen or else I'll graze on everything! If I'm preparing dinner and am cutting up a bunch of things, rarely does it not go in my mouth for "a taste." I know I shouldn't do it, and I know I don't count the calories, but I do it all the same. I'm usually better if I drink a big glass of water before I start making dinner--but I don't always remember to do this. I've got to remember!!!

zenor77 04-02-2007 12:29 PM

Jman~ You're doing great! Keep up the good work. I find this site very motivating too. I'm not sure if I could have come this far without the great support from everyone.

Bobbi~ The Apple-Cranberry Fiber cakes are made by Zen bakery in Los Angeles. I get them at Trader Joe's, but you might be able to find them on the internet. I'll look to see if I can find someone online that sells them. They are great! They are sweetened with white grapes and the first ingredient is bran (I think there are only 6 or 7 ingredients total.) They're pretty big for the calories you get too. They are "regular" muffin size.

Abetterme~ :welcome2:

Rockinrobin~ :dancer: Congrats on the weightloss! It's really amazing to me how far you've come!

Justme~ I find that late afternoon/early evening is the hardest time for me (when it comes to snacking.) I usually have a snack at 3pm, but it never lasts me until dinner. I try to drink water to make sure I'm not just thirsty, but when I'm really hungry it's so hard not to pick at stuff while I'm cooking.

Susan~ I have to plan ahead or the damage would be really bad. I'm okay usually until I get to dinner, so I'm always looking for different low-cal dinner recipes. I love flavor, so I take pleasure in the "hunt" for good recipes and ideas. It makes it fun for me.

Everyone have a great day!

GrammyL 04-02-2007 12:56 PM

I would have to agree with Allison on the preparing dinner or right when I first get home. I am just ready to eat so I usually try to have a salad or veggies. I also like evening snacking but I now figure in first thing a 100 calorie pack of popcorn to take care of that problem. I sometimes wonder why I like popcorn so much but I do.

Jman ~ That is a fantastic lose, CONGRATS! All your hard work paid off.

CoolMom75 04-02-2007 01:12 PM

My worst snacking time is about from the time I wake up until I go to bed. LOL

Okay, the Fiber One cereal with strawberries on it was delicious. I think I just burnt myself out on it with my 1st pregnancy weight loss, by eating is so much. Every time I'd see it at the grocery store I'd shudder. haha. But, its all good, and I had my usual amount of fiber (all day) in one low cal meal! Woohoo!

rockinrobin 04-02-2007 01:40 PM

Bobbi, don't get me wrong I most certainly DO count my calories. It's just that I KNOW what they are already. I eat a lot of the same stuff from day to day, week to week. And if I were eating a pickle and a tomato, I'd be counting it. I just don't see the need to record it all in Fitday. My menus are quite repetitive. But I don't measure my veggies, I eyeball um' and round up. I like it that way, cause quite honestly, by my counting up, I think I'm actually eating less calories. I KNOW I am overestimating and yes, that's what works for me. It's like the person who's always late and sets their clocks a few minutes ahead to "buy" himself some extra time.

Susan, I'm sorry I didn't understand what you meant by it's something I said. It's just not clicking in my brain for some reason.

Thanks to you all for the congratulatory words.

Zenor, I also like a lot of FLAVOR. I like to make very tasty things. I use tons of garlic and crushed red pepper and stuff.

My worst time of day to snack I suppose would be when I'm preparing my food. I pick at whatever I'm cutting up. That's really why I must stick to veggies. And I do add it in, I have to. I'm a nibbler. I usually allow myself up to 200 calories to do so. Sometimes though I will stick a piece of gum in my mouth and it does help.

Jman, I'm glad you had a better weekend. GREAT weightloss!!!! Congrats.

srmb60 04-02-2007 02:18 PM

Oh I remember Robin ... it was about planning and how you've simplified by eating the same basic breakfast .... I was flyin' by the seat of my pants there for a while and (among some other things) your post reminded my that I have to be more intentional than that.

Thanks for the poke ... I started simplifying by having my old standard shake for breakfast this morning.

rockinrobin 04-02-2007 03:48 PM

Yes, I find that we do have to be just that - intentional. Winging it is a recipe for eating off plan, IMO of course.

CoolMom75 04-02-2007 04:32 PM

Oh, yeah, I have to enter everything into Fitday (aside from the 1/10th of a pickle, etc) or else my portions creep up. Plus, I have to consult it before each meal to see how much I have left to work with. :)

rockinrobin 04-02-2007 04:48 PM

I map out my food scheduele a week in advance. I know what and how much. I make enough for for just one meal at a time, so there's no worries about portion control. There are no surprises and no room for extras.

After reading what I just wrote, it's no wonder my kids call me the food ****. Yikes.

littlered 04-02-2007 04:56 PM

Hi, everyone.

http://www.millan.net/minimations/smileys/grouphugg.gif
I am sending a hug for the kind words about my hubby. Took him to a Orthopedic surgeon this morning. He was there 2 hrs. He has 2 fingers with fractured tips. He is off today, and is supposed to be on light duty for 3-4 weeks.
Hubby said next time something is wrong, He is getting a NEW treadmill. No more broken fingers!!!

ABETTERME,
welcome. You will love this group. Not only are they doing well and losing weight, they are funny too. :)

Zoe,
I try to use Fitday to my max. I put in everything I eat and drink. Even my vitamins, etc.
It keeps me in line.
As a newbie to all of this. I don't know most of them by heart yet. I try to plan my day in the morning. Sometimes the night before.Seems to be working.
And at this point I like a large variety of things.
Most of them seem to be on the healthy side. If I had to eat the same thing every day... I don't think I would do as well.

Justme.
I don't have a worst time of day.
I plan my day for snacks in-between meals.
Keeps me from just grabbing.

Bobbie,
I do have the sweetest hubby in the world. And don't think I don't tell him that everyday. 29yrs anniv. in august

I agree that the apple cranberry fiber cake sounds real good. would love to try that one.

:congrat:
Congratulations to All of you girls that keep on losing. You are all an inspiration to me.

Jman,
keep up the good work. You can do it!! Oh! drink water!

Got to go see what hubby needs
later.

Lol! I do the same thing! Especially right before dinner. I have to see if I can add on wine, dessert, or if I can have a larger portion for when I'm really hungry.

Petra6998 04-02-2007 07:15 PM

Well everyone HAPPY APRIL!!! I have met my Easter goal already!!! So I have been really good with my calories and exercise!!! Congrats to everyone else on all the weight loss!!!!

lovemyboy 04-02-2007 08:58 PM

Hello all.

I had a good weekend. It wasn't as low as what I would have liked. I did approximately 1800 on Saturday and 1900 on Sunday. I was hungry! I strive for 1800 max so not too bad. Today was 1526. I'll weigh tomorrow.

All this fiber talk got me to buy Fiber One. I haven't tried it yet, maybe tomorrow for a snack.

Justme... Like some of the others posted my worst time to snack is between the time I get home and the time that dinner is ready. I won't pick food as I'm cooking, but I'm sometimes so hungry that I can't wait to eat so I snack. I've been eating a piece of fruit before I leave work and that seems to help.

abetterme... :welcome3:

littlered... That just sounds so painful! I hope your hubby is on the mend. Ouch.

jman, rockinrobin, and Petra... :dancer: Congratulations on the losses.

Happy Monday everyone!

zenor77 04-02-2007 10:00 PM

Calories for today 1492

Fat 16%

Fiber 53 grams

I actually decided half way through the day that my fiber was going to be too high and I adjusted accordingly. If I had eaten everything I'd planned on it would have been WAY over 70 grams. I don't know if my body could handle that much! :lol3: I tried to research whether it is possible to get too much fiber. I'm still not sure, but I don't know if I could drink all the water I'd need to drink if I had over 70 grams, so I decided to adjust my mid-afternoon snack. What a problem to have, huh?!?!?!

I finally started up walking on my lunch again. I did a mile and a half today and I hope to the same the rest of the work week (3 more day with Good Friday off.) Hopefully that'll help with the "going home for a holiday" calories.:crossed:

Bobbi~ There is a website, if you google the name it should come up. They are sold at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's here in California. I noticed on their site that there is a Zen Bakery in Massachusetts and Illinois so maybe there is distribution in your area too? Or maybe they could just ship some to you?

Petra~ :bravo: Great job on making your Easter goal!

Everyone have a great evening!!! :bunny2:

nomorefatpants 04-02-2007 10:29 PM

fiber one sold out!

This is too funny. All this talk of Fiber One got me go to the store just now to finally get some and they were out!
Is it all my fellow 3FCs in the area?? I mean, what are the chances of that cereal being sold out? :fr:
Maybe it's the coupon they have in those automatic dispensers right below the box-buy two save 75 cents?
They only had 4 boxes of the Fiber One-Honey Clusters left so I picked up two of those and took advantage of the coupon. I guess I'll have to wait a few more days to try the regular Fiber One.

The Honey Clusters are tasty :)

CoolMom75 04-02-2007 10:53 PM

Petra...congratulations on meeting your Easter goal! That's fantastic!

Cals today were 1700
fiber was 60! and all I did differently was the bowl of Fiber One for breakfast.

I lost 3.5 pounds this week at my TOPS meeting weigh-in tonight. Its funny, I still have quite a ways to go but I was already thinking how much I am going to miss the 1700 cals a day, I get now. Normally when I'm not as heavy, or nursing as much, I can barely eat more than 1200 and still lose.

Good Morning!
Yesterday's calories... 1,185
Fiber... 57 grams
I'll not print my menu since I slumed it yesterday with DH out of town. I ate odds and ends, left-over, etc. It was a good day to make a mess in my kitchen, I made some Coconut Meringues that tastes pretty good and 3 calories apiece. I also made Chocolate pudding from scratch using guar gum instead of cornstarch. If my calculations are right, 1/4 cup cornstarch is 210 calories and guar gum had a total of 10 calories to thicken it. So that's quite a difference and the pudding thickened up great using guar gum. The recipe called for egg substitute which I never buy since we have our own chickens/eggs. I found a recipe for home-made egg substitute on the internet that I tried out. I wasn't impressed but the pudding still turned out great. Next time I'll just use plain egg whites.

Calories for Monday... 1,185 and Fiber 57 grams.

Grammy... I buy the Italian Flat Outs for pizza, yum! But I keep the balance in the freezer because I don't use them as often. I like the plain Flat Outs better, more versatile.

Zenor... great fiber (53grams) and I did look at the Zen Bakery site, I'm really impressed with the calories and fiber in the Blueberry and Apple-Cranberry muffins. I'd have to send for them to try , I think I'll check out recipes on the web and see if I can find something that has that much fiber in them and still have low calores.

Susan... Remember a couple of days ago when you stated your average calories for the month? I checked Fitday for my averages for March and don't believe them. I'm close to 1200 calories most days and according to them, I averaged 995 calories for the month. NO WAY! It made me so mad, I was going to go over the whole month to see where they messed up but decided they screw up the calories burned section, they probably screw up the food section too!
But I will make a bigger effort in getting over that 1200 calorie mark.

CoolMom and Theresa, great fiber numbers for you too!

Yesterday I tried some of the frozen grapes everyone is talking about. They are very good but my teeth are sensitive to cold and I don't think I'll try that again.

I'm off to the fitness center, be good everyone!

Theresa ~ I still cringe and your DH's fingures. Sending fast healing prayers for him.

Zoe ~ That is fantastic! You are really doing well with counting calories. I have been looking to the future and trying to figure out how I am going to cute back to 1200 calories also because I am sure there will come a time I will need to. I have yet to figure it out.

Nomorefatpants ~ That is crazy that they didn't have any of the Fiber One. I guess everyone is clean in your town. HEHEHEHE!

I just hit panic. I just home how deleted the bar that shoes my web address and google section off the top of the page. I figured out how to bring it back. Not a clue what I did to delete.

Zenor ~ that is a lot of fiber. WOW! I can see why you cute back after that.

CoolMom ~ I have a TOPS book that I have been using to figure out portions and calorie counts. I probably purchased it 19 years ago and it has seen its better days but I really like it. It tells portions, calories and lays out some menus.

I am so happy today. I gained 14 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas trying to follow my old plan. I would make it thru the week but then at holiday events I lost it and gain what I lost plus added some. It was horribly flustrating and all the cloths I had bought were to small and I don't wear tight clothing. Today I decided to try on a pair of pants I did fit and they went on without undoing the button. I am so happy. Althought they have larger legs than I am used to and I caught my toe in the pant leg and almost fell down the stairs here at work.:o I don't know how it happened but I got my foot out and finished the steps out fast and caught my balance. I told my boss I am sitting in my chair cautiously and staying here. No more stairs today. Talk about getting the ticker going. :^:

Calories Monday: 1632
I would have been lower but I ate dinner really late and cravings set in for sweets which is normal for me. If I put off a meal or skip a meal I start craving sugar to get my blood sugar normalized. I am prediabetic and was a diabetic so skipping meals or eating off schedule really throws me for a loop. Last night dinner was 3 hours late. Next time I will grab something like a sandwich or cheese or anything to prevent the sugar cravings.

Well I better head out and talk at you all later.

Oh Bobbi! Did you skip a couple of days or something? 995! Did you try one week or two? That'll at least tell you where those days are. But, if you're not worried, neither am I. As long as your average is some higher than 995 ;)

Yesterday's calories: 1300!!! Plan today should have similar results.

I read an article yesterday and wonder what everyone thinks. This was in a Women's Health Magazine and it was an article about dieting. It said to determine your daily caloric needs, take your weight and multiply by 10 and that's what you need to maintain (add a couple hundred if you exercise). Then take a couple hundred away to lose. To me that sounded rather simplistic.

floridarusty 04-03-2007 09:55 AM

Congrats Petra on making your Easter goal....

Yes, Bobbi it is a long time since I've been here and my weight has not gone down. I have now lost 1 lb. since I'm back posting, I guess I need to be here!!!

My worst eating time is 3 - 5 p.m. and I do like the word grazing!!!! Fits me to a T....trying to stay at around 1500 cal./day. I did go to the pool and did a bit of exercise yesterday instead of walking, walking today.

You are all an inspiration to me....Phyllis

YOU GALS GET SOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH FIBER!!!! Thats it I'm going to the store to get a truckload of FiberOne!!!

GrammyL: Be Careful in those pants today!!

Bobbolink: COCONUT Meringues?????? YUMMMMMM coconut anything is my favorite flavor in the world...I dont think I've had coconut since Christmas time.....

CoolMom75: WAY TO GO on the 3.5lbs!!!

EVERYONE is doing fantastic!! I actually saw the scale move to a new low this morning...I weigh every morning and this morning I saw 167!!! I got on again to make sure it was right...LOL maybe I finally will break this plateau!!

Calories for yesterday was about 1100ish...... My coffee I take splenda and a little skim milk....I DONT count that...So I figuere everyday I probably have an extra 75-80 calories from the coffee...BUT I also have little kids taking the food right off my plate sometimes too!! SO I figuere it evens out... Thats the only think I have daily I dont count...the only time I count my coffee is when in the afternoon occasionally I'll put a pack of diet coco in with it...thats like 25 calories a pack!! SOOOOO GOOD!!!
