Thanks so much for the encouragement. I'm very happy about the loss of inches but would so love to be able to say that I also lost some weight! LOL. I guess I'm never happy. Yes, I'm only 5 weeks post-op and the doctors said it could take months for my body to fully recover from the surgery. I have to be more patient!

Yes, I think you're right about the dietician. I keep an eye out for my blood sugar levels and test and everything but I can't say I'm very good at meal planning. I know there is a difference between good carbs and bad ones... and I try to avoid the white stuff...but it's a challenge to keep my levels where they should be. Anyway, I'm up for the challenge and looking forward to learning more. I'll be sure to let you all know about what my doctor says.

    Take care,

Got so busy, I almost lost track of my day. Went to walmart and bought a new treadmill. and a Elliptical.
    Boy!!
I put them together mostly by myself!!
Took me at least 4 hrs.

I found out the old treadmill was WAY off on the speed.
And that I am soooo out of shape. The elliptical is HARD. but I will persevere and do as much as I can, even if its only 3-4 min. at a time.

well have to go. just wanted to check in. Have to catch up later.

    Hi there,

I'm with you on the eliptical. My DH got me one for my birthday and the first few times I used it, I could only stand to do it for 10 minutes at a time. It was killing my back and my feet. I've just had surgery, so I've not used it in five weeks. Before the surgery, I was finally up to 30 minutes, but whoa... that thing is hard to maintain! Good luck to you, I think it's great that you're training one one too!

  • Littlered ~ They say that when people lose weight the sleep apnea does go away. Thanks for the words of encouragement and I agree, it does make me want to stick to plan and work out because I don’t want to look that way anymore. Sounds like you got a workout just putting the machines together. HEHEHEHE!

Justme ~ I make turkey tacos all the time and no one complains, hope they went over well. Super busy here at work also so I now where your coming from. Fabulous on the weight loss girl. Keep up the good work.

Lovemyboy ~ I sure wish I had an answer for you but my DH unintentionally does the same thing. When I point it out, he stops doing it. One thing that has helped is I say no I don’t want that but I will take this. I point out something healthy that he can buy me as a treat and he is more than accommodating.

Zenor ~ That is SOOOOO funny about the baby blanket. Please don’t work on it many days. HAHAHAHA!

Carrie ~ Great losses and the inches, that is fantastic!

Miette ~ If your not feeling well, that can contribute to water weight gain. I eat three meals and two snacks every day. When I first started doing this I did feel like I was eating all the time and wasn’t hungry but it only took a few weeks before I was ready to eat when it was time. I also found in depends on what I choose to eat and how much on whether I was hungry by the next meal. Now that I have cut back into the 1400 calorie range I am definitely ready for the next meal when its time. I must say I do feel as if it helped me overcome my diabetes and continues to keep my sugar levels in check. If I were you I would definitely ask to see a dietician to help you.

OK, I am reading that “The BestLife” plan and he asks that you stop eating 2 hours before bedtime. His reasoning makes sense and let me tell you it was hard but it paid off this morning on the scale. I was also ready for breakfast at least an hour before I usually am but that could be a good sign. I have been hungry about a half hour before eat of my times to eat, ARG!, but I can do it because I am sure it will ease up.

I have been shooting for 1200 – 1400 but unsuccessful yet but I figure close enough. Monday calories: 1445
    Tuesday calories: 1443

Well I better get going and do some more work. This week and next are very demanding weeks and I just have to keep reminding myself to relax.

Thanks so much for the tips. I am going to try to work in healthy snacks tomorrow. I'm hoping this does the trick!

  • Hi Everyone, I was just checking to see how everyone is doing and I noticed the picture of the brown eggs. CoolMom, the hen must have really squawked when she laid that hum dinger! Type in (egg, raw) into Fitday and you'll find raw whole eggs, raw yolks and raw whites. Don't put "s" on the end of the word egg. Then just click on the black arrow and bring down the different ways of measuring the eggs. I weigh mine and use the ounce drop down.

  • Miette - Could you call your doctor's office and tell them that you want a referral to a dietician? If they say they have to see you first (which is silly) then "threaten" them with how you feel they were negligent for giving you a meter and no dietary guidance. You should be seeing one like, yesterday, because with the proper diet your diabetes will be MUCH more manageable. I can't believe how insensitive and well, negligent, your doctor was! How frustrated you must be - not only do you feel tied to the scale, but now to the monitor as well.

For my snacks, I make them like mini-meals - incorporating a fruit or veggie, some protein and some whole grains. For me, a snack might be some whole grain crackers, cottage cheese and some carrots.

littlered - So jealous you have not one, but two, pieces of exercise equiment. I don't have any, unless you could the kids and the two flights of stairs......

When hiking and fishing today with the family. Mike and I each caught a fish, and Lela had a great time running the trail. Laurel and Olivia were on my front and back (respectively) and slept most of the time. Lela learned how to pee in the woods today too! We're hoping to be ready for our first big camping trip with the twins in the fall.....no more ultralight backpacking camping though, I'm talking about car (van) camping with coolers and an airmattress!

    Today's numbers:
    Total: 1810
    Fat: 78 39%
    Carbs: 194 38%
    Fiber: 24
    Protein: 103 23%

BREAKFAST - whole wheat wrap with egg, turkey sausage and Parmesan cheese
SNACK - whole wheat wrap with turkey, provolone, lettuce, tomato and avocado (pre-made, portable trail food)
    LUNCH - see above
SNACK - nothing - bad me!
DINNER - 4 oz. beef tenderloin, 1/2 baked potato, 2 T light sour cream, 1.5 c. broccoli and 2 brownies

Boy are we exhausted today! It used to be that we would hike for at least a mile BEFORE we started fishing. Then we would fish for about 3 hours, with LOTS of climbing over rocks, then hike out. Today we hiked about 1/2 mile, fished for as long as it took us to catch a fish each, then let Lela walk back. Having kids sure does make you feel old sometimes!

Hope everyone has a great night!

Fiber~ 52 grams Yay! Leftover lentils!

GrammyL~ I'm ALMOST done with the baby blanket, so hopefully the craving goes with the gift and doesn't stick around.

Cjc~ Reading your posts always makes me tired! I'm still trying to figure out how you wrap a toddler to your back while carrying an infant in the front. That's got to count as exercise!

My fiber has been low lately, guess I need to kick it back up a little.

Went to Curves yesterday and walked some about 4 miles.

    Carrie:

    Quote:
Yea! Was 191 at Curves this morning. I have lost 6 pounds (since I started with them, actually 9 pounds from my highest of 200), 5.31 pounds of body fat and 4.5 inches. Woohoo! I lost 2.25 inches on my abdomen (just below my bellybutton) where my stomach is biggest.
You are doing fantastic! How long was it that you took to loose all of that?

    Quote:
littlered - So jealous you have not one, but two, pieces of exercise equiment. I don't have any, unless you could the kids and the two flights of stairs......
That sounds like one **** of a workout to me!!!! You should have great legs.

    Zenor:
    1 pound... Everyone counts!!
I see we are just about the same weight! Bet you look great at that weight. considering I am more than 5 inches shorter. I know you look better.

    Just me:
You too are doing fantastic 2.5 pounds

Boy, seeing the problems you girls have at TOM. I am glad to be finishing up menapause. Just one less hassle.
I am weening my self from my meds right now~horemones. about 3 more weeks to go.

    Zoe:
those eggs are just to cool. Wish we could raise our own. To bad we live in town.
Saw the big guy. and kind of guessed he would be a double yolke.

    Miette:

    5 inches down!!

Keep up the hard work, don't let a little bit of time get you down.
    One day at a time.
I would make sure to do as Carrie said. Get a dietician to help you learn the correct way to eat.
My daughter inlaw. found out she was diabetic, and saw a diatician for a few months. It really helped her alot.

    well got to get moving
If I don't do it now I wont have time later.
  • I read an interesting article on Plateau's, I edited out the ads and some promotional stuff. Here is a portion of it.
    Weight Loss Plateau - Demon?
The dieter begins to experience weight loss over a period of time. The rate of weight loss, and the amount of time, both vary according to the dieter's metabolism rate, current weight, and genes - just to name a few fear factors.
At this point, everything is fine in Dodge City. Then something terrible happens! Gasp! The monstrous Weight Loss Plateau Demon suddenly appears into the individual's diet. Weight loss virtually stops. There may not be a green light visible for many days, possibly weeks.

The dieter gets weary and may even give up hopes of losing weight and quit their diet.
But, for those determined dieters who wait things out, and keep on track - suddenly, the Diet Race is on again!
Weight begins to quickly melt off and all is well in Dodge City again.
    Always remember:
    a) good things come to those that wait; and
    b) Good Diet Guys wear white hats.
Many times, a dieter will walk to the end of the Weight Loss Plateau and slide down - meaning that they experience a dramatic, sudden drop in weight.
This feeling is better than 2 slices of black forest cheesecake. Okay....1 slice. It's hard to beat that '2-feeling', isn't it?
    Quick Recap:
The point is that the benefits of riding out the Weight Loss Plateau are Diet Gold - and the reward is generally a dramatic weight drop in most dieting individuals!
    Why plateaus are good!
How in the Blue Diet Devil can a weight loss plateau be good?
Yes indeedy! When the body temporarily shuts down, it's a very good thing. Although, if the dieter had anything to say about it, they would tell the body, "Let's get to losing weight again, okay!"
But sometimes (actually more times than not), the body is smarter than our brain. The plateau is a built-in safety net that prevents self-destruction.
What to do when you're on a plateau.
For gosh sakes, don't stop and enjoy the view or you might get run over by a stray donut with chocolate sprinkles.
Don't stop and smell the roses either, because there aren't any on top of the old Weight Loss Plateau.
It's a desolate area filled with heathen snakes, biting flies, poison ivy and sometimes barbaric acts such as sweaty exercise. Yes, exercise will help you walk safely over the Plateau.
Some other things you can do to survive this treacherous journey include:
Strengthen your Willpower. You must be stronger now, than ever before to succeed.
Take a hard look at your diet. Ask yourself: "How many calories am I eating per day?"
"Do I need to reduce those in order to go forward, or am I where I need to be?"
"Is this truly a Weight Loss Plateau that I am on and not a box of donuts that I've hidden underneath my bed that I sometimes feast upon when no one is watching?"
"Or, am I eating basically the same foods day-in and day-out?"
"If so, might I change those up a bit in order to boost the old metabolism?"
    "Am I exercising enough?"
"Am I walking at least 10 minutes straight every other day?"
"If I don't like or enjoy walking, what other activity would be fun - something that I can stick with to strengthen by body and that will work hand-in-hand to accomplish weight loss?"
  • zenor - Ha.....I wish I was burning as many calories as everyone seems to think I am! I have several different methods for wearing two, depending on my circumstances. And I usually am able to pretie the carrier on my front, and then put the baby/toddler on my back, then pop a baby in the front. I can put one on my back while there is one on my front, but the babies don't like hanging over like that, so I try to avoid it if possible. It took me 2 months of experimenting with new and different carriers, and looking at homemade videos, and struggling, sweating and being frustrated. But now I can get them both on in under 5 minutes and I'm free to take my toddler to the park by myself! Wrapping on the back is intimidating, especially with tiny babies, but I was very surprised at how quickly I could learn to do it. I helped my husband do it on Tuesday, and after an hour he was exhausted - he told me that he couldn't imagine how I did it for several hours a day.

Theresa - I joined Curves on March 27th. I was going the whole time, 3 times a week, sometimes 4, but I had 2 bad weeks where I was stalled and gained back what I had lost. So most of those 6 pounds and 4.5 inches were lost in 2 weeks. I had/have a lot to lose, so I knew I would see results more quickly. I didn't lose any inches on my arms or legs, however I can see a huge difference in the shape of my arms. I also didn't lose any on my natural waist, but like I said, I lost a lot on my abdomen where I have a big baby pooch. I think my bust was down as well, but that is always in flux with nursing. In the morning I can have size DD breasts (or larger, I don't know what the next size would be?), and be down to a C by the evening.

I can see a difference in my body already, and that is only about 2 weeks of counting calories and working out. When I go to Curves, I work as hard as I can - I'm practically falling down when I walk out of there - it is the only time I have for myself during the day, so I try to make the most of it. I'm feeling so good, physically and mentally! Since I've been battling depression for 2 years, this is a huge victory for me.

Hi Miette! Hope you're doing well today! Hi everyone else.....have a great day!
  • Carrie ~ You are such a brave girl taking the twins fishing and hicking. That would be quit a workout. Yep, I think your DD needs to teach my 20 year old how to do it. She won't pee in the woods or in a hole in the ground potty. If it doesn't flush she has a fit.
  • Bobbi ~ Its nice to see you stop in and that you are still maintaining your loss. WTG! I really enjoyed the article and how it was written, kinda cute but so, so true.

Calories Wednesday: 1385 Finally below 1400.

WOW, I never realized how hard it is to stop eating 2 hours before bed time. I was so hungry last night and I made myself some blueberry tea. UMMM, seems as it has a side effect of cleaning you out. HEHEHEHE! Good thing students have today off because I have the feeling today is a stinky day beyond just bad weather, if you get my drift. HAHAHAH! Ok I am just full of it today. HAHAHAHAHA! No really the stress if finally off I a feel like my old self. I do not handle stress well at all and this past few weeks has been 8 - 9 hours a day extreme stress. The amazing thing is I didn't really turn to food to get thru it, I turned to reading my new diet book, exercise and prayer. Plus, I snapped several times. The look on peoples face was utterly priceless, that just isn't normally me. I complain but don't snap.

Well I better get going and pay some bills here at work and for home.

    Talk at you all later.
  • OH, I think I asked a very hard question of our biochemist. HEHEHEHE! I asked them why we can't lose more than 2 lbs of fat per week. One new the answer and the other said he would have to look it up and wasn't convinced that it was true. The one that had the answer explained it in detail and I totally unstood why, I just didn't want it to be true. HEHEHEH! Makes me want to take our biochemistry class but I don't want to take all the prerequisites.
  • My scale read 188.0 this morning! As I've said before, I weigh after using the bathroom, before drinking anything and in the nude. It's nice to get the lowest possible reading, but I mainly do it because I've found it to be the most consistent. But I'm plotting my weight daily on Excel.

I'll still keep my ticker at 191 because that's my clothed Curves weight. I REALLY need to get out and buy some clothes. Nothing fits me because I was about 175 before getting pregnant. I'm only wearing exercise pants, t-shirts and a pair of maternity pants (no panel, though, they don't look like it but the tag says "Motherhood" ugh!)

I have no idea what size I am. Can anyone help? My measurements are:

Bust: 42.25 (a D most of the time) (down from 43.5)
    Waist: 35.75
Abdomen (the biggest part of my stomach): 42 (down from 44.25)
    Hips: 43.75 (down from 44.75)
