Thanks for the help. I had chicken and beans... worked out great.

I just got home from my FIRST CURVES WORKOUT!

You know... It does not look like much. but to a chubby out of shape lady.. wow!
We did 45 min. Normally its 30 min.
I followed my daughter Magan, she was having trouble with coordination. But. we did it. So I actually worked out for a grand total of 1 hr.!! that includes my time on the treadmill.

Hey! I even was giving people the name of this website and fitday!
They had not heard of either. But my trainer said to keep track of everything.

I am doing just what I promised my daughter. Teaching her and myself to live healthy. I am the food planner for both of us. She is used to that anyway. And we are both moral support.

Oh, I have been drinking like a fish, got well over the 64 oz. I was told to drink.

How often do you girls go work out... before its to much for a beginner?

Hi Ladies,
Just a quick post to introduce or re-introduce b/c I'm stressing about school so I need to get back to it.
28, Law Student, gained a ton of weight as a summer associate...trying to lose it, lost 10 and sort of fell off the wagon b/c I got sick...finals and papers looming isn't helping the situation. So I'm trying to get back on the wagon with the Easter Challenge.

For the newbies...welcome! I've found this place to be extremly helpful. Collective knowlege and/or opinion can be very helpful

Hi everyone~
it seems as though everyone's doing the 'reintroduction' thing so i'll make mine short and sweet:
25 year old grad student at the U of Minnesota...
used to be super skinny runner in high school/college...since then began emotional eating/binging that i can't get rid of. went from 120ish to 160 in about 2 years. icky.
well, i only joined 3FC about a week and a half ago; everything going well until tonight I was doing ok until dinner, but then just started munching and munching and almost (a little bit) got into my 'all or nothing' binge mentality....i think i ended up at around 2300 cal..icky. (the last 600 from cinnamon toast crunch cereal!)
anyway, sorry this is so long,
hello to those of you I haven't met yet!

tomorrow will be a better day, right?

Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a good day yesterday. I weighed-in this morning and I'm pleased to say that I've lost 2lbs I haven't found things too easy this week, had a bit of a struggle over the past couple of days, so I'm hoping for a better week next week.

alinnell ... I know how you feel about the exercise thing ... I really need a kick in the butt too ... I'd find it so much easier if I had a buddy that I could exercise with.

littlered ... I noticed that you've just joined Curves ... I would love to have the confidence to join. Curves opened a gym here in Hong Kong a couple of months ago, but I just can't face joining alone ... I've got as far as checking out all the info on their website, but I just don't have the confidence to go along on my own I wish I had someone to come with me. I think it's the thought that most of the local women here in Hong Kong are sooooo skinny ... I'd just die of embarassment walking into a gym full of locals ... Now, if it was full of Western women with fuller figures, I may just give it a go.

I have a busy weekend ahead of me so may not be around much, but I will catch up with you all on Monday, if not sooner. I'm out with the girls from work this evening for dinner & drinks, so I'm going to have to be carefull!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Allison-I don't know if it helps or not, but what helped me to find fitness buddies and like minded friends, was to start participating in things on my own-shopping in the health food sections and greeting others, signing up for a walkathon in my area, signing up for a local exercise class...basically just joining in with healthy activities, and slowly meeting new people.

Now I have a lot of friends who dance, exercise at the gym, are vegetarians or health nuts, take yoga classes-that sort of thing. It is much easier to stay on track when your friends would rather go to Panera Bread for a coffee and salad after an exercise session together-than with friends who would rather eat big mall cookies and shop.

Whatever you can find in your area to participate in-go for it, and you will start meeting people!

littlered-As long as you are motivated, and excited, and don't feel too sore-then you are fine. For some, at first they have to start at 5-10 minutes a day and hate every minute at first...and others can assimilate to a longer workout immediately. Just listen to how you feel, and don't burn yourself out by trying to do too much at first.

Hello to everyone else!!

Saber had his 6 month checkup yesterday. He is 28 1/4" long, and weighs 20 pounds, 2 1/4" ounces. His height is really tall for his age-he is honestly about the size of your average 10-12 month old. There is a Mommy & Me yoga class at the Athletic Club that started recently that is held right before my Wednesday night dance class, and I was thinking about taking it...but boy that would be rough trying to do poses with his big behind. Especially with all the other 15 and 16 pound 6 month olds in there.

Today is strength training. If I have time, I might get a quick bit of cardio or something in as well. I have a huge performance the beginning of June, and I am trying to get some of this baby weight off by then, and to get some more muscle tone. I am having a costume custom made for me...and it should be here at the end of the month. When I ordered it, I ordered it just a smidge smaller than my measurements were last month-preparing for a few more pounds dropped. In May, closer to the event, I can then alter it to my measurements at the time. (I do custom seamstress work/costume making as well as dance.)

Food has been absolutely excellent for the past 8 days or so...my calories are zig-zagging in the 1200-1600 range, depending on the day. I usually try for lower through the week, and the higher end on the weekends. I am crossing my fingers for a good weigh in at the beginning of the week.

Yesterday's calories came in at 1388 with 38% coming from fat.

Hetox Level - 7... If I hear one more song on the radio about love and how it all went wrong, I'll scream!

Detox Level - 10... No quit date set yet but give me a week in the gym and watch that drop to a glorious 1.

Have a good day, kids!

Good Morning everyone!
Let me see ... I feel like I had a good day yesterday.
I worked, walked, did weights and cardio and had ice cream. However, I used more calories than I ate so .... although the day had it's flaws, I'm takin' it as a good one.

Good morning lovely ladies!

It is sooo rainy and dreary out today, but I guess it's better then rain and it will not stop me from getting my walk in.

Walkingtolose, I had extremely similiar symptoms as you did about 12 years ago. I was also tested from everything under the sun and was never diaganosed. This may absolutely not be pertinent to you, but looking back at it now, I believe I may have been depressed. Just a notion I came up with.

Diva, you are too funny. What with your on line dating life and prisons and all. Oh gosh. Someone is gonna snap you up in no time, just watch yourself, will ya?

Aphil that Mommy & me yoga class sounds like you could get quite the workout with your ahem um "little" boy.

Alinnell, I know you know this, but the only one that can kick you in the butt is you, unless of course I was there, I'd be more then happy to kick you in the butt, but in a good way naturally.

Chloe, yes today will be better!!!!

Fatinhongkong, Please don't feel badly about going to a gym being overweight, I mean isn't that who they're supposed to be helping. Anyway everyone is so caught up doing their own thing, no one is gonna be focusing on you as much as you think, or at all.

I had an interesting day yesterday. Didn't stick to my usual menu. It was crazy hectic and I just couldn't find time to cook my regular stuff. It was very weird, I was definitely out of my comfort zone. So although I didn't have my usual highly nutrious veggies and protein (sad face) I am glad at least I stayed way within my calorie budget and got in my exercise, although it surely was late in the evening, but that counts too. I was before midnight.

Thursday's calories - about 1200 (though mostly devoid of nutritional value )

Have a great and healthy day everyone.

Good Morning!

Aphil, I know you are right about not doing too much at first.
I did not really entend to do the 45 min. Magan had so much trouble, I just followed behind her in the circle.
Doing more than her.
It was ok, I might not follow her next time.

She wants to go back today. I know we were told every other day...
But with her its always all or nothing.
I have to keep HER going too. for her health reasons.

So far its not been that hard. I worked LOTS hard at work. (recently retired)(factory closed.) Any way I think thats why it has not been as hard as I expected. I just pray it stays this easy.
Can you have muscle under all this fat?

skinny in hong kong. got to be more positive.

I know what you are saying about not wanting to go alone. Thats why I have not joined before.
I was nervous as h...
but....
I told myself I would do this, no matter what.

I see me and wonder how my hubby would want me. we have to do it for what ever reason works. (Thank God he really loves me.)
You can write me any time. I do understand.

Hey! my scale is cheap. But it said I lost 1 lb this week.!
Good incentive for me.!

My goals for calories is about 1400-1600 and fat 25/30 %.

Still trying to figure out todays menu.
That seems to be the hardest part to me.
got to go get some food for us. later.

Anyways, I was a thin girl up until I had kids....after baby #2 I went back to smoking and thinned back down...ONLY til 3 yrs ago when I decided I needed to quit, then I slowly gained back PLUS some....EEEKKKK!!!! on my way back down though!!

Okay, I'm going to introduce myself here. I post from time to time in calorie counters but haven't been on the chat in ages. Don't know if I'll manage to stick around as I post a lot in 300+ and the 100 pound club.

I'm 41, college professor, married with no kids and 2 dogs, and someone who has struggled with weight my whole life. I was obese from my sophomore year in college, tried a couple times to lose (always ended up heavier than I started) and then gave up and let myself get really fat! I've never liked to exercise and after giving up on weight loss just let myself eat whatever I wanted.

Those days are over. I've lost almost 120 pounds, and while I know I will be dealing with food issues forever I hope I never get back there again.

My diet is completely different than it used to be, and while I count calories I am also focused on nutrition. I exercise regularly (though it's a fight!)

Yesterday was a good day. I stayed within my calories and even had enough for a piece of pie. Today was weigh in day, and I'm down 2 pounds. I'm happy that something finally came off. Today has started off okay. I ended up going to breakfast with my brother (who is the type that can eat literally anything and barely gain), and I had a sun-dried tomato bagel with veggie cream cheese. I've only eaten half of it right now, and I'm waiting to have the other half later. I still have to be careful today, but I think I can manage.

Aphil: Thanks for your comment. I really appreciate it.

Aphil~you're right. I need to motivate myself and just go to a gym and frankly, just do it. I need to. I wonder if I will.......

Fat in Hong Kong~if you didn't live so far away, we could work out together. But that darn ocean just gets in the way!!!

Robin~thanks for the kick. I guess I should either sign up for that boot camp or get out the yellow pages and go visit some gyms to decide what one is right for me.

I didn't check my calories yesterday, but I'm sure I was low. My weight is back down almost to ticker weight. Fridays are usually my bad day due to going to lunch with DH, but dinner will be very light because we're going to my DS's Karate belt ceremony. He has moved up to red belt. Tonight's ceremony will be interesting. Two girls will be getting their black belts. I imagine DS should be ready for his black belt in about 2 years. The Sensei really makes you work for that one! These girls were at the dojo every day for at least 2 hours a day for the past 6 months practicing for their belt test.

Everyone have a wonderful day!

Allison-there is martial arts taught at the athletic club where I teach dance, just on different nights. I may mention it to my husband...I think he would enjoy it.

There's oatmeal raisin cookies in the kitchen. I'll go hide them somewhere inconvenient. For someone my height, that's not too hard

I went for a walk/jog tonight. Short and chilly but a start. I really need cardio.
