Food today:

B-protein shake
L-turkey and vegetables, yogurt
S-1 cup orange juice
D-extra lean beef with BBQ sauce, whole grain roll, baby carrots

I haven't had my evening snack yet, but it will be a yogurt and fruit

Exercise today was 55 minutes of strength training. No time for cardio today...tomorrow is the weekend and DH will be home all day, so I'll double it up then.

Hi, hope everyone had a nice day. The sun was shining!
Thats good where I live. lots of flooding going on.
Boy,I am I glad I don't live on the other side of town. What a mess it was.

I did my work out today. Knowing I probably can't make it to curves in the a.m. They do have funny hours of business.

Will do the treadmill. Sat and Sunday.

Kept the calories low, just was to busy to pay attention to eating.
Did get to play with the granddaughter today! Got to love being a new grandma.

Calories were 1323 today higher than i would have liked but better than i though it would be today. My boss provided a pizza lunch today and only ate 1 1/2 slices.

I am going to try to spend some time on my eliptical tomorrow (after i dust away the cobwebs). I have really been slacking, i keep telling myself that i will do something but end up on the couch watchin the boob tube. Once the weather warms up i will start walking again but till then i have to get motivated to do something else.

cablgurl - wow, those calories sound pretty good to me!

Hi all,
I weigh on Fridays, and I wasn't to thrilled to be up... just a quarter of a pound, but it's still discouraging. I want to see the scale move down not up! I've had an extremely busy work week and have gotten home around 7 or later every night (I go in at 7:30). So the little bit of evenings I've had left have consisted of a quick dinner and making moves to get in bed. This week has made me realize I must exercise or the scale will not be my friend. I've been so busy that I haven't overindulged in food (except one day), and yet I still gained. So I need to get back on track with exercise tomorrow.

Glad to hear everyone else is having a good week!

Robin, it's interesting that you mentioned depression in regards to my symptoms; that was one option my doctor and I explored. Dr. even had me try zoloft to see if it would help. I actually thought I was depressed, but looking back it seems to have been a case of which comes first...the chicken or the egg? Even though I believe I was mildly depressed, I think it was a result of my symptoms not the other way around. It was darned depressing to have such weakness that I could not open a jar or get up the stairs in the house without pain. I remember a very low point when I was in bed, and my pillow fell off onto the floor. I leaned over to pick it up, and I literally could not clutch it tightly or lift it without a great effort. My hand was that weak and achy. It was at that point that my husband insisted I see a doctor. I remember thinking, Oh I must just be getting older... aches and pains are part of aging (mind you, I was not yet 35!), or well, maybe I'm just a little depressed and my energy level is low. But as the symptoms progressed and worsened, I truly felt there was something amiss in my body. I still believe that.

I never did get any answers and even now, typing this, I feel awkward revealing all of this. I haven't talked about it much, except with DH, my family, and closest friends. I think the lack of any diagnosis has always made me feel somewhat guilty (like I'm a hypochondriac) for talking about being sick when I couldn't call it anything. Anyway, I think (and hope/pray) it's behind now, at least for the most part. I certainly the symptoms are behind you too!

To all - my goal for the weekend is to have good workouts both days and make healthy choices food-wise. I need to get out of my lacksadaisical (sp?) weekend eating habits ('Oh, it Saturday, what the heck, I can crack down on Monday'). I'm posting it here to make myself a little more accountable.

Hope everyone has a great weekend... good night!

Hi all,

I'm too tired to read all the posts right now...just got back from 4 hours of skating, and was really trying to make the whole thing a workout as much as possible, so I am wiped! My sister had severe back problems at work this morning, so I spent most of the day with picking her up, taking her to the chiropractor, then to get her car, follow her home, etc. Did not get my exact calorie count today, but ate healthy and feel confident I was under my limit. Got 20 mins on my sister's recumbent stationary bike this afternoon, plus the skating already mentioned.

Had my very first weekly weigh-in today....six pounds down! Woohoo!
I kept getting off and on the scale to make sure it wasn't a mistake, lol. Sorry, it's the first time the scale has gone down in years, so I'm a little excited. I'll be back tomorrow to catch up on posts, but just had to stop in quick before bed and share the good news on my first weight loss. Thanks to you all for your advice and encouragement for a CC newbie!

yes, congrats cheryl...aweome week! 4 hours of skating? geez i bet you're sore/tired now

speaking of congrats...aphil, seems like you are doing AWESOME lately...every time i read a post of yours, the food is amazing and the exercise is great....you will be ready for that show in no time!!

no congrats to myself...COMPLETELY fell off the wagon last night; i'm not talking a little bit of ice cream or too much sugar...i'm talking 1/2 pan of brownies, 1/2 bag of big chips, and lots more kind of fell off the wagon. sometimes it amazes myself how much i can eat without getting sick, not trying to by cynical, it just honestly amazes me. i was so in distress after getting a cortisone shot in my back for my herniated disc...just so tired of all the constant pain. however, unlike my usual binges that last a week, i have written a big '1500' on my hand to remind myself of my commitment to eat less than 1500 cal today. one day at a time i WILL get to my birthday goal of 150 (april 23). ok enough complaining, sorry i get carried away sometimes.

bobb0link: hope you're all dug out; i just took my car out for the first time since the storm round 2 started, and half of the small city streets STILL aren't plowed well!

walkingtolose: don't feel awkward spilling your guts on here...i have found in my two short weeks that it really helps to be able to get stuff off your chest on here, even stuff you wouldn't tell other people!

littlered: um....cutest granddaughter ever? yup, i think you win. (sorry to all the other grandmas....haven't seen pics of your little ones!)

off to study for midterms next week!

I'm back to gab for a very short time, DH is eager to go into town to run errand and get our Fitness session in. (The roads are finally opened up including the Interstate)
Robin...You consistantly stay around 1200 calories, good job! It was fun to read your short Bio, Now I can joke with you about using the bathroom. With 3 teenaged girls you problably never get to use it. I have a red bucket you can borrow!
Cablegurl...I checked out your "Looneyspoons & Crazyplates" cookbooks, they do look fun and those two girls really have something going. I could see some of the pages on their web and I like all the tips they give. If I didn't already have a zillion cookbooks, I'd order one. I see you can buy them pretty cheap on E-bay.
FatinHong Kong...How many stones make a pound?
Mami...Are you tired of the snow yet? I can't imagine cooking without vegetables, makes me wonder what his mama fed him as a youth. Can you blend some up and sneak into meatloaf, etc. ?
Diva...We're so glad to see you back among the living again! Now I have to get my dictionary out again! For all you newbies here, Diva is our Spelling Bee Queen.
Athenac...I love the picture of the baby Tiger & Chimp. I just saw the story about them on the T.V. Green beans are my favorite veggies too, I use the ICBITBspray and sprinkle with garlic seasonings, yum! I'll have to try the Feta cheese, I have a new package in the frig not yet opened.
Littlered...15 minutes of exercise is better than nothing. I for one hate to exercise and that's how I started out on the Nordic Track in my basement. It's not that I couldn't do more than 15 minutes, it's because I HATED to exercise and 15 minutes seemed like an hour. It'll get easier, trust me.!
Allison... Thanks for the lasagna recipe, we both love it. This summer I made it with long slices of zucchini instead of noodles and not only cut the calories but it was delicious, DH didn't even know it was zucchini until I told him.
Susan...I still have a 8-Track player and lots of tapes in my basement, wish I had all the money I invested in tapes. I love the "Kick Butt" animation on your last post. How did you get it on this thread?
The Pickle... Self Sabotager are common here, we all do it sooner or later.
Cheryl... Challenges are great motivators and you have about 4 months to reach your 30 pound goal. That's about 1.9 pounds a week and easy to do if you keep your calories down and exercise up, good luck.
Allison...It was fun reading your short Bio too, who's on the picture with you?
Walking...Glad you're on the mend, with the medical technology we have it's surprising they couldn't pinpoint it.
DH is ready to go and I haven't even showered yet, gotta run. I've only read the first two pages of four on this new thread, I'll have to catch up with the rest of you tomorrow. See Ya, Bobbi

Good morning everyone!!

Bobbi~I'm glad you liked the lasagna--I'll have to try it with zucchini. The girl in the photo with me is DD. She's 16. I used that photo as a before and after type thing on another thread and then decided to add it to my signature. Here is the before/after again. We belong to an organization of mothers and daughters and each year we have a tea. These photos were taken at the tea. So from November 2005 to November 2006 here is my progress:
2005 tea photo 1.bmp2006 tea photo 1.bmp

DS got his new Karate belt last night (red) and he wanted to go to Applebee's for dinner afterward. DD is a hostess there and she was able to take a break and eat with us. It was nice, but the calories were high from two meals out and my weight is back up this morning. I'll be really good today, though. I'm off in a bit to get my hair done.

Cheryl~congrats on the loss!!!

chloeone~don't feel bad about falling off the wagon--just get right back on. See my quote on my signature.

Susan~step away from the cookies!!!

One thing that our dinner at Applebee's did for me was that it put me in the mood for dinner salads again!!!!!! DH had a salad and I had an appetizer and we split each. The salad was soooooo good. I've got a lot of salad fixins on my grocery list for today. It's been so cold lately that I just don't want salad, but I think I'm finally over that! Next week, we'll have salad at least twice for dinner and we'll go back to daily (except Friday) lunch salads. This may be the spur I need!!!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good Morning.
Hope all is well for everyone today.

First off, I have a little question.

Which piece of exercise equipment do you think is the best for at home...Including as one that can grow with me as I get stronger?
I do have some problems with a bad knee. Hereditary Osteoporosis. Will have surgery somewhere in the future. I am trying hard to loose the weight be for that has to happen.

Cloeone, I think my granddaughter is the cutest, No... I not prejudiced!

I would love to see everyones pics of their little ones too.

Skinny in hong kong...
How are you today? Haven't heard much lately. I made it the 2nd day at CURVES. Yes, I do feel like I am being stared at.
Oh well! They will just have a good pic of me in their head.
You should try one of the places for like a week.... some have a 1 week trial. If you are uncomfortable. check out somewhere else. To bad you are not here in Ohio. you could join Magan and me.

Bobolink, How long did it take you to get in more time? on the exerciser in the basement? I am going to try to do it 2 times a day. As long as my knee lets me.

have to go cook a turkey breast!
here is my calories average for the week.

Average Calories

Total: 1360 per day.

Cheryl - CONGRATS on 6 lb. loss!! That is excellent!! Reading about others' successes is so motivating to me, and I'm sure to everyone else too. Allison, you look so good in your pics (both, but yes, especially the second "after" one).

Bobbi and Chloe - thanks for the encouraging words about my health. I agree it's strange not to be able to pinpoint something in this day and age. I did have a borderline positive test for lupus, which my sister has since age 24, but a rheumotologist ruled that out (no inflammation in my bloodwork). At least my symptoms have diminshed almost entirely. I mainly posted about it because, even now, I feel so much less fit. I still exercise of course; the intensity is just much lower.

Anyway, I'm off to have a healthy lunch and a nice long walk (I coerced my husband into joining me-- not an easy feat). Have a great Saturday girls, and keep up all the healthy living!
