Awww - thanks Meg. I am still dealing with getting the meds right and I have HUGE anxiety issues - crying jags just about everyday (lately about the hair )- but I think the weight is something I have found I CAN control. My emotions are a disaster and I feel like my head is so out of my control - but that scale and making it move I CAN do and it is empowering. When I get the overwhelming fear and anxiety I try to hop on the treadmill - I may be crying but I'm burning those damn calories !!!!!

Witchy, when I got to my lowest weight 2 years ago, my hair had stopped growing by the end of my 8 months of dieting. I didn't notice it falling out (thank goodness, it's quite fine to begin with), but it definitely slowed/stopped growing, as did my fingernails. I went to the hair stylist shortly after and mentioned that I thought it hadn't been growing well and I had lost a lot of weight, and I don't remember exactly what she said but she did agree. By about 6 months later, it had started again. My stylist said "It's really growing in well now. You've got a lot of new growth back here!" (indicating section in the back of my head). I had also gotten as low as I could go "healthily" calorie-wise, ~1200/day, and was probably low in fat. I took a multivitamin and calcium supplements but I'm betting I was nutrient deficient too.

I had some hair loss during my weight loss but, taking 5000 mcg a day of Biotin & using Tresseme' Anti Breakage Shampoo & Conditioner has helped greatly!

Thanks everyone. I am taking the Biotin now and have been using Nioxin - but I think it's making my hair and scalp dry so I may try the Tresseme. The Nioxin is supposed to diminish the DHT in your follicles and help slow shedding and hopefully help regrowth - but since I recently added an oral antiandrogen I think it may be overkill to continue the Nioxin. If I could definately say it's from the weightloss I'd feel better - but I truly have no idea when it happened although my son does remember last year there was tons in the drain. OK - this is how neurotic I am - went upstairs to my room to get something this afternoon - socks on - kinda saw something on the rug (no glasses on and VERY blind without them) so I rubbed at it and it was TONS of hair. I reached down and there was qyite a bit on the rug where I normally comb. I started to freak - even though I hardly see any in the drain - on my clothes or when I comb - but then I realized it was my 10 years old sons job to vacuum upstairs and he probably hasn't done it for a while. So over a period of a month or so I guess it wouldn't be that much (I know - I need to vacuum myself) . I mean if it was coming out in bunches I'd see it in the drain and all over my clothes - right ??? I had a new haircut Saturday and the hairdresser said she didn't see any in the sink when she shampood me - I am a total nut job.
Sorry guys - severe anxiety issues.
