Red face Considering Liposuction...

Hi! I'm new to this forum and I guess this is my first post here.
I'm coping with weight for a long time.. but my efforts never give long-lasting visible results - the fat returns again (quite an ordinary story, isn't it?)

Now my doc suggests me having a liposuction...
I dunno what to do. I really want to lose weight but I don't want to waste my money - I'm afraid the fat returns after some time. Also it's quite unsafe to have surgeries in my country... I will have to go abroad..

I've found a large collection of lipo before-and-afters(if someone's interested: plasticsergeant.com/home/body-procedures/liposuction) but I'm not quite sure with the results in the pics... Some of them are awesome, and some - not so visible.

Someone who had a lipo done, please... Is it worth it?

Welcome to 3FC, MilkyWay! I moved your post here to our forum that deals with issues like lipo and skin removal after weight loss.

I don't know a lot about liposuction but I've always read that it's not a weight loss technique. Rather, it's for fat deposits that won't go away with standard diet and exercise. If the problem you're having is that you lose weight and then gain it back again, I don't think lipo is the solution. You can gain fat back after lipo just like after a diet. And then you've spent all that money and been through surgery -- for what?

For lasting fat loss results, you need to change your eating and exercise habits permanently. That means never going back to what made you gain weight in the first place! Instead of considering surgery, how about looking around at the different diet plans here at 3FC and seeing if one of them might fit in with your life? You'll get better, more permanent fat loss results with a lifestyle change than with surgery!

Once you reach your goal weight, then you can evaluate and see if lipo would be helpful to you.
