Angel.....just keep saying serenity now, serentiy now...sounds like pure jealousy from MIL....keep going, girl!
Kathyhegg - just in case you aren't familiar with how circuit training is supposed to work, here's my post when I found out from MrsJim I was not amused... I'm still not...it was much easier to do it the wrong way.
Oz & Shaunarae- the soreness does go away after a little while...
ledom...I might have to actually get a copy of People...that sounds like good inspiration!

Smile TBL Products

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE; May 2006 hold everything you wish for and much more!!!

I just had a few opinions to express on TBL products!

-----

I already have Jillians book and LOVE it. Wish there more pictures though!

I think it's great; as it goes into the actual SCIENCE of how to lose weight and explains HOW it all happens; rather than just telling you how to do it.

I've just started compiling a meal plan; so I'll keep everyone updated on how that all goes. Can honestly say I haven't looked into the "SWEAT" section too much yet, I'm just finding it a bit confusing.

I've been proclaiming my love for Jillian since TBL2 started, which has driven my friends CRAZY! However a friend of mine was leafing through her book yesterday & was actually in awe of how much everything was EXPLAINED. Felt very proud to hear them say "Umm, Can I borrow this please? when they went home

-----

Received TBL book for Christmas; It's obviously a LOT different to Jillians book, however I found a lot of it to be VERY useful - especially how the meal structure plan. However I do NOT agree where they state it's okay for someone who weighs 150lbs, to eat 1050 calories - especially when it's widely stated that woman shouldn't go under 1200 cals.

The background info on all the contestants are really great to read; not too sure on the recipes ... tofu in a milkshake? It's also a bit difficult, as we don't have most of those products in Australia. I hope they use Australian products in the Aussie version!

-----

I did have some questions about the DVD's though.

I'm currently in the middle of moving states; from Sydney -> Melbourne.

I'll be studying and don't know how my income will be; so I'm not sure how long it will take for me to organise a gym membership (not that i utilise it ... bad cath BAD!)

So; I was thinking of purchasing all of Jillians DVD's & TBL workout DVD, and incorporating them with walking a few times a week - until I join a new gym.

For those that own them; what would you recommend to do as a workout schedule?

Thank you so much & I'll try to post more regularly here!

Luv,
Cath

Cath- I just got Jillian's 5 DVD set and TBL DVD. TBL has a workout program recommendation on it for you to do for the first 6 weeks. It is really easy to pick and choose or customize your own workout. I did the low intensity workout today for the first time and it was tough. I was expecting it to be easy. It kept my heart rate up every bit as much as Jillian's workouts.

I have Jillian's book too and am doing the circuits in there. I've only done the cardio kickbox on cardio days, but then I added in TBL to make my 60 minutes. I've previewed the shape-ups but not the maximize series yet. They are much shorter in length than if you would do a circuit workout. I think I would use the DVDs if I was in a pinch, or wanted to get some extra workout time in, but since I have the book, it tells me what I should do for 12 weeks. I could use the DVDs in place of the book workouts, but I think the book is much more thorough than the DVDs. Does that make sense?

If you are going to buy Jillian's or TBL, I would have you pick one or the other. They are both good and will do the same thing if you stick with it. If you are trying to save money and walk too, just get the shape ups (front and back) and fast walk on your cardio days. If money is not a problem, buy it all. They're good and you can mix up shape ups and maximizes so you aren't bored and your muscles will constantly be guessing and do cardio kickbox on your cardio days.

Hope that helped,
Shauna

Smile Melbourne!?!?!?!

Chick in the hat, you were right the soreness has subsided. My sister however is still walking around like a granny. Bwahahahaha Anyway today the gym isn't open, how dare they take a public holiday. So I haven't looked at the day 3 workout yet but I can feel some improvisation coming on. Can't miss a day of the program yet, I just started it.

Cathcath, what are you thinking?? Moving to Melbourne?? Are you nuts?? Kidding only kidding. Actually it's good time to do it with the games there early this year.

Hey girls.....Hope everyone is doing well.

Last night was a blast!!....literally!!!....we bought a whole bunch of fireworks and set them off around 10pm. My inlaws are visiting and we thought rather than do what we do every year....(sit around and watch tv, they fall asleep and be bored all night) I cooked a wonderful rack of lamb dinner, did the fireworks and then lit a huge bonfire in the backyard. The boys roasted marshmallows and we had a great time. They still fell asleep mind you, but it was okay.(they woke up at 11:50, just in time for the ball to fall in NYork) I did much better NOT snacking on sweets and also for today. Can't wait to get all this stuff out of the house!!!

We've been shopping shopping and more shopping. Popped into Old Navy and couldn't believe the deals. I got 5 pr of jeans for the boys and only spent $38 !!!! Then I bought another winter jacket (a cool one since my ds won't wear the other one cause it isn't cool) and thought at $24 I was getting a great bargain from $60 but it rung up at $16. !!!! I LOVE SHOPPING SALES!!!! So I spent less money and now there will be NO FIGHTING him to wear his jacket. Puffy jackets aren't cool....who knew? lol Hope everyone is doing well or as well as can be......HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

PS....It must take MIL a few days to warm up.....she was gushing today about how great I look for losing almost 30 lbs!!! So unlike her, but GUSHING IS GOOD!!!! I take back what I said earlier.

So I just got home from the week 1 day 5 workout. It's all going quite swimmingly except one thing. I have an issue, I know only time will fix me issue but still it's an issue.

So I get into position to do the plank twist things and o-oh the bellie hangs down. This causes an interference when I attempt to bring my leg up and twist it across my body. In the picture Jillian practically brings hers up to her armpit and mine well it probably goes half way.

Well that's all, hope everyone is going great.

Default The Sonoma Diet

Yet another diet that doesn't stress exercise *cough*southbeach*cough* and leads people to believe just eating right will get you in shape.

Being not so far from the Sonoma area, I think I'll make "The Sacramento Diet." It shall include caramel corn from that really good place in Old Sac, every dessert at Rick's Dessert diner, and the cheeseburgers from The Tower Cafe. Of course, the key will be moderation...but people will be in awe of a diet that lets you eat caramel corn and cheeseburgers. (Even if you don't realize until page 37 that you get 1 bite of each per week.) Somewhere in the book I'll put an asterisk, and then on page 2,477 you'll read a disclaimer that the diet also only works if you exercise 5-6 hours per day.

Sorry all, the smart "butt" part of me had to come out for a post. Hope everyone had a good new year's eve!

Oz- This is what I am thinking about when you say you are having difficulty with the plank twists. On Jillian's DVD, she says she hates the words "I can't". Me being a kindergarten teacher also hate those words so I have read The Little Engine That Could to them the first week of school so that when someone says "I can't" the entire class starts saying "I think I can, I think I can." Jillian says that maybe you can't do it today, but maybe you will be able to do it tomorrow or the next day. Just keep trying and you will get there. I had trouble with these too, but kept pushing forward knowing that someday I will get there, just like the little engine that could.

Smart Butt- That was funny! You might get rich!

I am getting ready for week 2 beginning tomorrow. Today was a rest day for me. My weight has started moving down.

3 lbs! Way to go Shauna! I love seeing numbers like that.

I watched a bit of the biggest loser repeats on Bravo today, read the People magazine articles and feel re-inspired and ready to start anew.

In People mag, it says that Seth from B.L. wants to become a personal trainer and change his career. That's awesome. I think I'd love to do that some day, if I could get to a point where I could inspire people. What a fulfilling job to be able to help people!
