  • H Red Team,
Happy Tuesday, it's biggest loser day so I need to get my behind in gear and make supper. I think it's going to be stir fry because that is quick and easy. I haven't been feeling the greatest today, slightly dizzy and haedache, but I'm learning to live withit. I went ahead and did my workouts anyway, my yoga dvd and WATP 2 mile. Saturday I get to buy new running shoes!! I've had a little foot pain when I've been using the treadmill, adn I know I need new shoes. Thisis supposed to be our last above normal temp beautiful day for a while, I don't know if I'm ready for winter.

    Everyone have a great week.
    Bette
  • Hello red Team!

Hope everyone is having a great day.
I'm happy as my kids went back to school today, so we can get some semblance of routine back into our lives.

    I'll be back later
  • Good morning, Just wanted to report that I made up this week for last week losing 4lbs this week...WOOHOO!!!!!.....I am OUT OF THE 270's!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Congrats Wuv2b!! You're looking fantastic!
  • :wave everyone
Today is my official weigh-in day and I only lost 1 pound. It's frustrating as I feel like I have been doing everything right. I'm not going to get too down about it though as it is still a loss.

Wuv2b - Congratulations! You are doing great, wtg

    Going to workout now

    Have a great day everyone
  • Congrats to everyone who's lost this week! The prospect of a weigh in on Friday makes me ill. I will never get over my scale anxiety, I don't think. :\

I'm making this for dinner tonight -- Lighter Chicken and Dumplings (from Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition by way of my friend)

    Ingredients

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    1/2 onion, finely chopped
    3 stalks celery, thinly sliced
1 cup baby carrots sliced thin
    1/2 cup frozen green peas
2 Tbsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped or 1 Tbsp. dried parsley
1 tsp. fresh thyme or 1/2 tsp. dried thyme
    2 Tbsp. no transfat margarine
    2 Tbsp. flour
1 1/2 cups reduced sodium, organic chicken broth
1/2 cup fat free half and half
1 cup low fat Bisquick mix
1/2 cup milk or buttermilk *NB: I use 1% milk*
1/2 tsp. each sea salt and fresh pepper

    Directions

    1. Place chicken breast halves in saute pan and cover with water. Place over medium heat, uncovered, and cook for 10-12 minutes until chicken is poached and cooked through. Remove water and set aside to cool.

    2. Heat olive oil in large pot over medium heat. Add onion, celery and carrots, saute for 4-5 minutes until carrots are just tender.

    3. Remove from heat and add frozen peas, salt and pepper, parsley and thyme.

    4. Cut cooled chicken breast into bite-sized pieces and add to vegetable mixture. Set aside.

    5. In small saucepan, heat margarine until melted, add flour and stir well forming a paste. Add chicken broth and fat free half-and-half. Continue whisking over medium heat until just starting to thicken. Add to chicken-vegetable mixture and return to low heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.

    6. In small bowl combien Bisquick mix with milk and fork until just mixed. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough on top of chicken-vegetable mixture and cover and continue to simmer for another 7-8 minutes until dumpling is done.

    7. Serve in bowls, garnish with a sprinkling of fresh parsley.

(1/4 of the recipe is 9 WW points)
  • Hey everyone!

Mel - It's funny you mention sleep. Since my BF left me I've gotten tons! True, it is also post-college graduation. But I've been exhausted by 10pm and waking up by 7am. Not my usual sleep schedule, but I'm certainly not complaining.

I bought new running shoes today. They're heavier than I'd prefer, but they're trail shoes which is what I need. Plan to do a trail run once a week in my half-marathon training. Also, because I've gone crazy, I signed up to do a 6 mile trail run next week, *at night*. I'm doing it to A. Keep myself busy and B. There's supposed to be a social event after and I'd like to meet runners in my area. Assuming that the run doesn't kill me. I haven't run 6 miles since Thanksgiving.

Aaaaand I ate pizza today. Living at home is going to kill me. All they eat is junk food.
  • Hello Red Team
Congrats to everyone on our first weigh-in.

I am happy to say I am finally out of the 180s and hope to never return!

Remember to keep drinking your water- divide your weight by 2 & that is the minimum number of ounces of pure water you should be drinking each day.
This is a good idea to keep in mind. I actually love water but sometimes go too long without and end up with nasty headaches.

I wish everyone continued success this week
  • ^ Wow, I seriously need to drink more water.
  • I'm a daily weigh-er and my scale hasn't been super positive. :/ I'm hoping I'm just retaining water because of my new exercise program. It sure has left me super sore. Although I can already tell a difference. I tried some girly pushups after my pushup sets and managed two although not very low. ^__^ I think by the end of the seven weeks, I should be able to manage girly ones
  • Excellent excellent article on connection between exercise and diabetes and exercise and fat.

    Very interesting!!
  • Today I ran my intervals on the treadmill because I skipped them yesterday. Which means I also I have to do my regular run today. It's a little chilly outside, but not *too* bad. I'm sitting on my deck, trying to decide if I'll want a long-sleeve shirt once I've been running for a few minutes...I overheat easily.
  • HI Red Team,
Iowa finally has snow and it's still coming down, or I think it's still snowing it's hard to tell with all the stuff blowing what is old and what is new. I've got a good sized drift forming across the yard. I'm not ready for this but it's way past time for it so I guess I will live with it.
Yesterday was a horrible day I went to workout and got a real sharp pain in my knee. I was tryingsomething new (squats) and I pretty much was done for the day. I did go on the elliptical for 35 minute afterwards because it is low impace and my knee feels better now. I just have to start doing my knee lifts to build it back up again. After that I drove my dad to the eye dr, he didn't get too great of news and he has to go back next Tuesday. My brother needs me to take him to the eye dr on Wed so I'll be doing a lot of running next week. (they go to different drs in different cities) Finally last night I got home late, and DH got home even later so we ended up ordering pizza for supper and I ate too much. Then later in the evening I ate some sweets so it was a huge overage on the calories. But today is a new day. I'm going to rest my knee and get my eating back on track.

I hope everyone has a great week.
    Bette K
  • I'm going to remember this if the scale is meanballs at WW tomorrow ...

... I just did a 5K in under 45 mins. I did the Week 3 C25K intervals until I was done ... 90 sec run/90 sec walk then 3 min run/3 min walk. I know this is hardly fast, but to me, it's like a world record. I ran for three minutes straight and I didn't die!!!! Or quit!!!! And I did it four times!!!! Maybe five? I have to chart it out.

I'm actually kind of bummed that I won't get to run again until Monday.
  • Hi red team!

Congrats wuv2bloved, Narnia and Canuckgirl on your losses already!

Everyone seems to really be on form with the exercise this week, well done!

I haven't eaten particularly well this week (giving in to friends when the invite me for meals..grr at my own weakness!) but I have taken up yoga this week, which I've discovered I LOVE!

Hope everyone has a great couple days and good luck for the weigh in, we can do it!!
