Red Team Chat Thread Week 1 (5/31-6/6)
Have fun everyone! This starts our first official week of the challenge. Your first weigh in will be June 6th by 10pm AST. Make sure you come back around Wednesday (mid week) for the combined (red and blue teams) weekly exercise challenge. Let’s get started!
|
Caring the chat over from last week.
Tina- I'm excited for the challenge too. I need to get my butt in gear especially for the next 30 days before I go home. Hope everyone has a great start to their week. The weather is starting to get nicer here. Enjoyed a nice long 13 mile walk again yesterday with the bf from one city to the next. Good times. Tuesday is his birthday but he has to work 14 hours, so we are celebrating tonight. Taking him out with our friends for some dinner and drinks. Then I'm ready to be perfectly on plan the rest of the week. What's going on with everyone else? |
**Just a reminder**
Each week starting May 31st we will have many ways for you to keep yourself on track and accountable. We will have a red team nutrition journal where you can keep track of your daily food. We will also have an exercise journal so you can track your daily exercise. Of course we will have the red team chat thread so we can chat all week long. Please feel free to participate as much as you want. You don't have to participate in the nutrition or exercise journal unless you want to use it as a tool to keep on plan. You do have to particpate in the team chat at least once a week in order to stay eligible for the biggest loser title and you have to weigh in once a week (except your two freebies). If you use both freebies, and still don't weigh in you will be eliminated from the challenge. There will also be a weekly exercise challenge for both teams to participant in if you choose to do so. There are many options here to help you with your weight loss and to help keep you on track. Good luck to everyone!! |
Sorry I've been quiet. Lots to do with work & tomorrow dh has minor surgery to repair a hernia (he has to check into the hospital at 6:30am- ugh).
I've been staying on plan fairly well, though strayed after a stressful workday and gorged on potato chips- it's always something, but tomorrow is a new day. Let's get rockin' team Red!! And happy Memorial Day to those team members in the states! |
hello everyone!
i cant wait to get my butt back into the gym.. Ive been watching too much sex and the city!!!! tomorrow.. i will get my bum back to the gym! |
This challenge could not have started at a better time for me! I'm really focused right now, and if you could see the big chart I made this weekend you would understand! I have decided to eat between 1550-1700 calories/day and do some form of physical activity 6 days a week. I plan to alternate pilates on the days I do not run or do strength training. For me it is something I think I can manage and hopefully I will reach my goal before I go home! I've never been so motivated at reaching a goal, I do not like to put time frames on my goals as for me it has always been a depressant if I didn't reach it! But this time I'm not working towards a specific number, just trying to do my best before I fly home!
Good Luck everyone!!! |
Good Morning
I have been looking forward to this challenge for a very long time. I just updated my weight in the weight thread and unfortunately I'm up a few lbs from my last weight:(. I'm crossing my fingers that its water. My plan for this challenge is to stay around 1500-1700 calories a day, get my workouts in and most importantly STAY ON PLAN. A lot of things going on the last few months have made my will power almost nonexistent. Hello to everyone :)Looking forward to getting to know everyone! Shan-a 13mile rock is AWESOME, wow...you go girl! |
Good Morning Beach Chicks,
I am enjoying the holiday weekend. I am so happy that I have been able to stay in my calorie range even though I have been out to eat several times and even had a big family get together meal yesterday. Yeah! However, I will be relieved to get back to the usual routine with simpler lo cal menus. I have one more dinner out tonight. I will have to look up the menu this afternoon and find something acceptable to order. I plan to steer away from the alcohol calories and I am heading out the door for a long walk in a moment. Hopefully with effort I can stay out of trouble! |
Hello every one.
Well i have been op for two weeks now, i am going to star today chalean extreame , so let see how i do. |
Hi Everyone, sorry I have been missing for a few days. We went camping for the holiday weekend . I tryed to bring good food choices for myself, but of course I needed to have some stuff that my husband enjoys also...For the most part I did okay, but today at home I'm having a hard time. I'm getting ready to get out with the dog to get my mind off of food.:hungry:
It was also such a hot:hot: weekend here I didn't get in much exercise while gone. There is'nt enough room in my camper for a workout so I really need to make up for lost time...:exercise: Hope everyone else is doing okay! *talk* to you later. |
Yay, we're officially started again!
I had a great weekend - very busy playing all weekend and stayed OP in spite of that. :) Went on my "long" walking route today - about 4.25 miles in 60 mins. Doesn't seem like that long ago that I could barely finish 3 miles in under 60. I love seeing progress! It was only 85 degrees, but it felt sooo much hotter than that. I could have gone longer, but the poor dog just didn't seem to be fairing as well in the heat... Hope she can handle it this summer, it won't be long before 95 is the norm. :) Anyway, hope everyone has a good, OP week one! It's going to be a great summer! |
Hi All,
Wow, it was harder to start this on a holiday than I thought. Didn't do great today, but will make sure to be back on track for the rest of the week. I am so glad it is June, bring on the sunshine finally! And I am thinking about starting C25K. I will be swimming at night when it is hot but need something else to really get my heart rate up. I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! |
Hello All!!
This is my first challenge and im pretty excited! Ive dealt with trying to lose weight my whole life and im hope with everyones help, i can get the motivation and encouragement i need to move pass that hurdle. Its wedding season and with wedding season come delicious food....so the past two weekends have been hard but hopefully ill get back on it! Hope everyone had a great weekend!! |
Hi Red Team! :carrot:
Well, haven't been that good lately - spent the weekend away and didn't really bother with staying OP. Attempting to kick start it all again this morning. I cycle to work every day and it's good exercise because there are lots of hills but I'm off work for the next week so I'm going to need to be more disciplined with my exercise. I might get a start on doing C25k actually. I'll check in again later :) Have a good day everyone. |
Hello ladies. Still looking for the red team to start checking in. We are still missing about 15 of our girls. Hope to see some of you on here soon. Hope everyone is having a good start to the week.
I started out all right yesterday, but went downhill yesterday evening and all day today. I totally take the blame for it myself, even though I would rather blame it on the bf's birthday. But that would be dishonest and unfair. Please note, I do feel the pressure to do well because I am team leader but I am human like everyone else. I struggle with my weight loss the same way everyone else does. Have mercy on me! Hahahaha! :) Kicking it back into gear tomorrow with 3 days straight with my personal trainer and then one solo day at the gym on Saturday. I want this weight to start dropping dang it!! |
This is it. We are officially challenged to lose some weight! I'm excited.:dizzy:
My challenge today is to get through dinner. Sounds simple enough but I swear it is such a chore for me to come up with something good for supper that is not fattening and within my rather limited cooking skills. If I could, I would just go out to eat but that is even more difficult and costs money to boot! Well I have all day to come up with something. Tonight I go to the Y for 60 minutes of body sculpting. I will probably add 30 minutes of cardio but I have not committed myself to that yet. Go Red Team. Let's knock Blue teams socks off.:cheer2: |
I had so much fun on Memorial Day that I forgot the challenge was starting!
I ate off plan yesterday, but it was a girl's day out with my mom and 22yo sister, so I'm going to let it slide. But today is a new month and a new challenge, and I'm ready! |

Hey everyone... I'm so ready to start this challenge. Had a great day yesterday with my family... got to see my dad get honored at a veteren's memorial in my hometown yesterday. Had a perfect day food wise and swam for about 45 minutes. I didn't get enough water, but I feel I did pretty well for Memorial Day! (no funnel cake, or sausage on a stick or any other horribly fattening things that were available at the city celebration).
I am hoping to be able to get on the elliptical tonight, but my little one has decided that I am the only parent he wants right now so getting him to bed has been a chore all weekend... hopefully he cooperates tonight... I desperately need some time for myself tonight. |
hey guys im so excited this is my first challenge and hope it will
motivate me to do my best and lose the baby weight after i had my son the weight has been harder to lose than i thought it would be....well good luck to everyone! |
Hey ladies. Sorry I've been absent. For those of you who don't know me, I'm Ashley and this is my third BL challenge. I just moved to Nashville from Atlanta, so I have lots of unpacking and job hunting to do. The 6 weeks prior to the move I was working as a long term substitute in an art classroom. It was so draining and between that and the move, I've been soooooo off plan.
Tonight was my first time cooking in ages. It feels good to be back on plan, but I have one more blip coming up. Tomorrow morning I'm doing a Church's Chicken breakfast taste test. Not too healthy, but what can I say, they're paying me $50 and I'm unemployed. It shouldn't be too bad if I'm on plan for lunch and dinner. Hope you ladies have a good week. Burn it! |
Hi everyone! I'm excited to be a part of this challenge. I'm worried about my first weigh in already because I just had a whoosh this last week. I'm going to up my cardio this week and continue to stay on plan (I'm on WW).
|
Hey Everyone!! I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! I didn't do too bad while traveling over the holiday...only gained one pound, and it is usually 2 or 3.
Aclai how are you liking TN? I am moving out there from KS in about 1.5 months. C25K Ladies- I am up to about 20 minutes on the aggressive program.....it is just SOOO hot I haven't ran in about a week. Also, I alway get super terrified before I have to up my time again and 25 minutes is only 1 more run away :yikes:. We went to the lake today.... wore a bikini probably not the prettiest site, but it was just the Hubs and I-- so no innocent eyes were wounded for the sake of me getting some sun! Best of Luck to everyone this week! |
Hope everyone is doing good. We are halfway through the week here in SK! I'll be posting the combined weekly exercise challenge for both teams later on tomorrow morning (Wednesday evening for anyone in the states).
I'm doing better. Now that all of the bf's parties are finished I'm back on track. Had a great workout in the gym today. Proud of myself because I did it all on my own with no personal trainer and I really pushed myself hard. I can't remember the last time I sweat that bad. Haha! Hope I can keep it up. That's the plan for Thursday, Friday, Saturday! How is everyone else doing? |
Morning
I've got an awesome workout planned for today, so far this week my eats have been right on track. The scale is barely going down though...im just getting back on plan after a very long break so it may take a few weeks for the scale to start dropping again. Shan-Nice job on your workout! I love those sweaty workouts, haha Hello to everyone! Have a great day today!!! |
Just time for a quick post, so much drama going on with work right now haven't had much time for online.
I''ve been doing pretty good, recooping from more dental work. The scale went up due to all the mushy food, but I'm trying not to stress out. I've stepped up the workouts and am back on a normal diet so I'm still hoping for a loss this week. Shan - I'll check out the other threads tonight. Thanks for all you are doing! Hope you all have a great day! |
This has been a rough weekfor me so far, my son will NOT go to sleep at night (he is 21 months old). He doesn't want anything to do with my husband right now, he is on a mommy kick at the moment. Last night I managed to squeeze in 30 minutes on the elliptical while my husband was fighting with him to go to sleep and about 15 minutes of muscles with the resistance band. I am at a loss, I generally try to do an hour on the elliptical, but right now I have no time at all. I work full time and the first oppertunity I get to work out is after little man goes to bed and the past 2 nights that has been after 11pm.
Just venting, but I figured this was the place to do it. If anyone has any wisdom about getting a toddler to go to bed, I would love to hear it. He was doing fine until about a week and a half ago. So I am hoping this is just a phase. |
So I woke up late for my taste test thing this morning. I had JUST enough time to get there if I didn't get lost. But of course I got lost. In all my visists to Nashville prior to moving here, I hung out in west Nashville, but I moved to east Nashville and I don't know how to get around this side of town at all. So I got there at 8:00 on the dot (which is when it started but I was supposed to be there 15 min before). Turns out it was perfect timing. They had too many people so they didn't need me, but they paid me anyways for coming out. $50 and I didn't even have to eat a greasy breakfast. Wahoo!
After leaving the taste test I went to Radnor Lake which has a beautiful trail. I have no idea what the distance is but it's a good walk and there is always wildlife (I saw a deer with her fawn and two owls today). Now it's back to more unpacking, then movie in the park with my sister and some friends! Doc- TN is going pretty well. I haven't been out of the house too much since I'm still unpacking and such. But I visited Nashville many times before I moved (my sister has lived here about 5 years), so I already knew I'd love it. Amy- OMG is he wearing a DHARMA shirt in your avatar? That's so awesome! |
Well, today my fiance and I joined the country club. Actually, today we just went to have a look around but tomorrow we will officially be joining so that'll kick my butt into gear. I'm really excited - I've wanted my DF and I to do an activity together for ages now and there are so many things to do at the club so we decided to just go ahead and splurge on a years membership so starting tomorrow my fitness will hopefully get a kick up its backside. I'm also hoping to begin taking ice skating lessons shortly - something I have long wanted to do!
Anyway, eating wise, I've been doing fairly well the last few days so I think I'm pretty much on the right track. Housework has been keeping me busy as well. I hope everyone is doing well. :) |
AClai - you are the FIRST one to notice that (or at least the first to mention it)... yes he is wearing a DHARMA shirt... see momma is a LOST geek, and had to outfit her baby in the proper apparel :) It has a mom bending over a baby on a changing table and below the dharma symbol it says "The Changing Station" I laughed out loud when I saw it and had to get it for him.
|
misspriss- How did your workout go? Hope all is well!
Fitin10- Work drama? Whats that? Haha just kidding. I hate that kind of stuff. Hope your doing well! Are you feeling any better after the recent dental work? I'm going in later this month 3 times for 3 cleanings before I go home to the states. Then when I come back here in August I have to have a root canal. Yuck! Haha. AmyMw- Your baby is so cute! Sorry about him not sleeping though. That's a bummer. I don't have any kids myself so I don't have any advice for you, sorry. But, nice vent! I love coming here for a vent myself. The best place for me usually. :) Aclai- Woohoo! $50 and you didn't have to eat anything! Awesome! I'm so jealous of you being in Nashville now. Before I came to South Korea I lived there for a year. My best friends live there. I love it there!! Everytime I fly in to Nashville it's like coming home. Do you like country music? What are your interests? I could give you some hot spots to hit up once you get settled if you like. Did you find a teaching job yet?? When I lived there I lived in downtown Nashville and taught at Hume Fogg High School for my student teaching. Can't wait to hear more about how your life is there. Hope unpacking is going well. Beautyandthebeast- Ooooo a country club! How cool! What is it like? Hope it kicks your fitness up like you said it would. What kind of gym do they have? Do they have classes there? Sounds fun! I love the pools and the country clubs. Great way to beat the heat in the summertime. My parents have a timeshare with a golf resort in town and we spend our weekends at the pool there. Good fun! Well ladies, I'm back on plan and doing well. Food today is prepared and on track. Heading to the gym after work today, and then will head to bf's work to have dinner together. We went last night and bought some cereal, bananas, and milk. I guess I'm on a modified version of the special k challenge right now because for awhile that will be two meals a day or one meal and a snack a day. 27 days to go!!! |
im back onplan!! finally after a couple of downer weeks (laid off.. no motivation and all that comes with that!) and tonight im going to the gym.. i cant wait it feels like its been ages since ive been!!!! :) im really happy for this challenge.. its the one thing i was forward to:)
|
Hi everyone!!
This has been a busy crazy week at work!! I wore my pedometer today and walked 4500 steps considering my job is mostly at a desk that is a lot of walking! I am excited for this challenge! I look foward to getting to know all of you. Tammie |
tammies00 - That's a ton of steps for a desk job! That's good motivation to break mine out of the sock drawer ;)
2phatinvictoria - Sorry to hear about the job, the + side is now you have lots of time to focus on your health. shan84 - I'm feeling better, thanks. 1 root canal a replacement crown and a couple of fillings, I'm just about done with the dentist. Good luck with your special K! AmyMW - That's an awesome onsie. As for your little one is he still doing multiple naps? If so this may be your cue its time to drop one. Otherwise if you can stand it, go through your routine, add extra cuddle time, verbally walk him through the bedtime process, tell him good night and leave. Eventually he will go to sleep. It gets better pretty quick, they are smart little guys. BeautyandtheBeast - Good luck with the country club, hopefully its an inspiring new start. |
Morning Girls,
I have been under the weather lately but feel a bit better today. I may have to skip the exercise today though. Still doing fine food wise. Not feeling so great makes that pretty easy. phatinvictoria-I was laid off one month ago. I have been on a serious lifestyle change ever since. Probably spending too much time on exercising and logging my food and exercise stats and not enough time searching for a new job! I have been better this week since I am not really up to exercising. |
Morning
My DVR isn't acting right...i recorded a few shows last night and this morning there is nothing on it:mad: stupid &%*~ thing! I will have to call about it today...argh Today will be legs. Im not too excited about working my legs right now, there still sore from that full body the other day. But i will stick to my rotation and quit the pity party;) Shan-Workout went great...a real sweat fest! Have a great workout today! Terapet-I too was laid off, i have been looking for a job ever since sept. of last year. Its so tough...Im sending out Resumes this weekend(again) Good Luck to you! Amymw-Just wanted to comment on your adorable little baby in your avatar..so CUTE! Hello to everyone! :) Have a great day today! Have a great day! |
I'm finally checking in. It's been crazy around here with school being out now and getting into a new routine.
I've been OP all week with my calories between 1300-1500 (one day 1292 but that was close enough.) I've been at a stall for nearly 3 weeks. I had the 188.5 that I reported when I joined this challenge, but then it moved up to the 189's (I think it's been from .1 through .9) and have been stuck there for nearly 3 weeks! I started 30 Day Shred in that time and I honestly think my body freaked out somehow because of it. So I've stopped 30DS for now to see if my scale will start moving again! My body has definitely changed during these three weeks, but it's so frustrating to be totally OP and not have the scale move. I've tried upping my calories for a week thinking I needed more calories due to the heavier exercise. But no budge. I usually aim for 1400-1600 per day. Now I've lowered my calories to 1300-1500 per day and am sticking to mostly cardio with a bit of resistance work. Anyhow, I'm starting this challenge a pound up from what I originally reported so I'm hoping and praying the scale will move down in the morning for my weigh in! |

Hello Everyone! :)
Sorry for checking in so late in the game here, but better late than never, right? I am really excited because this is my first challenge and I really want to see the impact that it can have on me if I'll let it and stick to it. As far as calories are concerned, I think that right now I am going to shoot for 1800-2000 and start out with 30 minutes of aerobic exercise. I HATE exercising (scratch that, the exercise wouldn't be bad if I didn't have to sweat because I HATE sweating!) but I figure by doing 30 minutes a day, I shouldn't get completely bored or burnt out. Who knows, I might surprise myself and find out that I actually like this sweating business... ;) |
