I would really appreciate an opposing point of view.

I don't like it because it feels like work and I don't mean in a good way. I am bored to death on it and it feels like an hour has gone by when its only been 10 mins. I love the treadmill and get so much satisfaction out of my workouts on it, same goes for the workout dvd's. I guess its just a matter of preference. I know people who have always ran and couldn't anymore cause of their knees who switched to the elliptical and love it. I bought a fairly expensive one (around $2000) so it's def not the quality. I just don't enjoy the time spent on it. HTH

Let's get some conversation going here...
[

Thanks Angela! you're so great! well here's me TOTALLY taking advantage of your invitation

you all have been warned !! (ps sorry this is a repeat post Angela from our thread ;) couldnt be bothered to type it out in another way, really wanted to share it with my blue team-mates! )

--------

so i have abit of a strange confession today. so bear with me !

so i met up with an old friend of mine that i hadnt seen for about 4 months. so i meet up with him for lunch and he comments on my weight loss, i'm wearing a big coat, so all he can see is my face. and he says , wow you're looking really healthy , your face i mean. and said i'm looking good healthy and vibrant or something maybe glowing, i cant remember his exact words, but all was positive - he then said - it looks like you've lost weight. so all that fitness exercising is doing you good (i had told him on the phone that i was getting into exercise a couple of months ago

and i smiled and said, "why yes i have, thank you" and then he continues to go on about it and then said, "well its almost like unhealthy skinny though" or something to that effect. which really annoyed me inside but i tried not to show it. and i said, what do you mean? i'm not an unhealthy weight, i still gota few pounds to go! so i just changed the topic.

but then it was really bothering me. and so at lunch i brought it up again, and i asked him straight up and said " what did you mean i look unhealthy ? face wise? i look unhealthy? and then he backtracked and said, no no not unhealthy, and i could tell he wasnt sure how to explain it and then he started saying " well i dont want to say..erm like those models" and i said, " so i look unhealthy in the face"? and then he said, no no you dont. your face has slimmed down and your cheeks...

i cant remember his exact words, and i was like, oh yah, but i prefer my face like that, and not the chubby one , and this was the way my face was like 4 or 5 years ago, before you knew me, so maybe cause you havent seen me in a while it seems like a drastic change for you.

anyways i felt abit better about it. cause i was like, why would he say i am unhealthily skinny. far from it! i would know. i do not want to have a skinny gaunt face at all. i really like my face now. i dont want it to slim down anymore. so i make sure i eat my BMR calories, and i am just exercising to lose my tummy fat and tone up and slim down abit more. and to lose my chubbyness on my back and especially my tummy area.

i am afraid though what if my face slims down more and i wont know it, or i wont know when to stop losing weight. that does worry me abit, which probably sounds ridiculous.

anyways so cut to the end of the story. he then sends me a text in the evening. and talks about his football match and said, hope you enjoyed your film (i went with my best friend) and then he wrote "it was good to catch up. i have to admit you were looking extra pretty. enjoy the film".

why would he say that ? its like one minute he's saying unhealthy skinny. weird! i dont get it lol.

anyways made me feel abit paranoid and i was looking in the mirror and thinking, but for the first time in my life, i actually like my face now, and thats the first time i've said that in my whole life. i've been sooooo critical of my looks and insecure my whole life. but now i feel more confident and happy. i wasnt happy when my face was all chubby and podgy. i like the new me

i dunno why his comment bothered me. but the compliment made up for it though (albeit only by a tiny bit! lol). but its so not like him to give compliments in the first place!, he hardly ever ever gives me compliments! so rare like once a blue moon lol.

anyways i just wanted to share. i told my best friend about it, and she said, boys dont know what they are saying half of the time lol. she's probably right. she told me to just ignore him and he probably didnt even know himself what he was saying!

but its like, even amongst the positive comments, we always tend to just focus on the one negative comment.

anyways thanks for listening

i personally still have a weight loss journey ahead of me. i want to lose my chubby tummy and slim down. but i dont want it to effect my face. so if i continue to eat my BMR calories and just workout hard. that should be okay right? im so afraid of the "gaunt" face look. but thats when you're really skinny though right? i've promised myself i will stop when i hit 140 and then just work on maintaining it. and then just live between 140-145.

its funny, but my friend who's my height , weighed once at 125lbs! i was like shocked and shes now 134lbs but not happy with her body. and i told her, i weigh 154 as of this morning and she looked at me and she said but you look slim! and you look really good. she complimented me on my face and my body which made me feel good. and i said, but i dont get it, i weigh more than you. and she said - maybe you have more lean muscle than me, thats why looking at you you look slimmer but you weigh more. i didnt think of that. but its an interesting theory. i dont feel like i've put on muscle, but its probably like lean muscle that jillian is always talking about.

anyways i feel better talking about it ! thanks for reading, i appreciate it :grouphug:

Echo.... I have a theroy after reading abotu your day... and i may be way off but then again.. I want to share my lil suspicion here. I think your friend may have really thought you to be very attractive in all your new-you-ness and once he complimented you thought O! well maybe that was too forward and being a man came up with a really bad "save" thinking then that once he made a negative-ish comment you wouldnt think anything of his previous compliment if it had been infact too forward and be offended or shocked or whatever men think..lol but then when you questioned him on why he thought that he had no answer cause I mean whats he gonna say.. I wwas trying to cover up that I think you are super cute now and didnt want to appear inappropriate? no. Men do not think that quick when it comes to women n being on the spot lol haha. SO then he felt bad for making you feel bad, so decided to jsut text his real feelings on the subject so then its done. You know? Just a thought... lol :)
But ethier way.. do not let it get you down.. you lookk incredible and about the lean muscle mass .. that makes ALOT OF SENSE. People ask me all the time how much I have lost and when I say 17.. they say really thats it? ..Because it looks liek so much more..
Now I have lost 17 before n no one noticed.. this time i exercised and yea.. ppl are noticing the heck out of it! lol haha
And do not stress on your face looking gaunt.. It does not.. you look radiant.. and I mean that sincerely from my heart.. and I think you will know when when is when... you have this whole weight loss thing down to the science it actually is... Please do not stress.. you are doing phenominal.. keep on going in the exact direction as you have been!

Thanks so much Angela!!! hahaha i like your idea lol, definately puts a new perspective onto it. i never thought of it like that. thanks so much:) i do feel better. its a cute funny theory -;) well that definately makes me feel heaps better about it all now.

thank you so much for the lovely compliments and for the message, i REALLY REALLY APPRECIATE IT :):hug::hug::hug: and for the incredible support, you're so right! i will continue going in the same direction -dont want to sabautage myself . thanks Angela :)

Hi ya all. I'm dead tired making cookies and Christmas fruit cake. But that's behind me now (until tomorrow, lol). And I didn't eat any cookies. I wanted one so badly but I knew I could wait until my dessert day on Saturday. After all it's not the only cookie in the world and not my last chance of ever eating one.

Echo, now that story of yours made me curious about your face so I took a look at your profile picture and you look so happy and sweet. You definitely do not have a gaunt face. It looks healthy and glowing. No wonder he texted you. And men really don't think things through all the time and Angela's theory may hold some significant water.

QOTD
: I usually walk on nice days but once the ice builds up on the roads and side walks I'm finished with walking. I've bought tracks to go on my sneakers or boots but I still won't walk on hard packed ice. I've had one to many side walks come up and hit me in the head. So on nasty days, ice filled road days I take to my stationary bike. I also have a circuit routine that I do. I found the exercises in a magazine a few years ago. It was based on the "Curves" program. I made a tape telling me when to change stations and have music playing. It's a good thing I still have a tape deck, hahaha. So I have my own workout tape that I do. It takes about 45 minutes to complete and gives me a good sweaty time of it if I put forth any kind of effort at all.

Anyways, I'm off to bed. Have a good one. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Morning Ladies!! Had another great day yesterday. Scale is continuing downward (175.8) today. Should be back to where I was by Monday. Didn't workout last night. Fell asleep at 7:30 but I really needed to catch up. Felt really good this morning when I woke up. We have parent/teacher conferences today so I have to go back to work tonite so no workout tonite. My plan now is to start Sat. morning.

Echo-You look amazing. I agree with Angela mostly and with you. He has never seen you at this weight so he is used to your chubby face. Seeing you with out it was probably a shock for him. Look at it as a compliment. If you hadn't started this and put all that hard work in he might have asked "have you gained weight". Pat yourself on the back for all your hard work and rejoice in people noticing it;)

Retired-My Lord lady you have willpower. I love your philosophy (not the only cookie in the world) and I am stealing it! lol!!! I am going to work on that frame of thinking. :D

I love working out to the dvd's. I have Jillians 30ds and have gotten to the second set have never braved going to part three! lol! I have Jillians frontside & backside but have never tried it. Love turbo jam for the mere fact of the amount of cals you burn. In 45 mins I can burn 550 cals.
I have tried power90 and it is kinda monotonous but you def feel it the next day. Do love the ab workout on power 90.

....such an awesome catchphrase

well thanks girls! you're the best, i'm feeling so much better about the whole thing and i'm rearing to go!
i have 2 weeks to go till my cousin arrives, and i'm abit scared that i will gain weight... so that bridge the gap challenge will come in useful. you know how it is you tend to eat more with company and relax abit but luckily she is watching her weight too, so we can encourage each other that just cause we're on holiday doesnt mean we go nuts. also it wil be nice cause i can go play badminton with her, i thought about organising a few fun activities, maybe tennis aswell. but yeh i'm really going to have to watch what i eat, cause i get so easily tempted to eat more or eat naughty things when i'm in company. so i bought myself a little notepad where i can keep track of my calories, even when i'm not near my computer.

when does bridge the gap challenge purple team officially start? will the first unofficial weigh in be 21st dec?

Cape Breton Chick 12-03-2009 01:11 PM

Hey Ladies, Sorry I didn't get a chance to pop in this morning, I overslept, through my alarm and all. I never do that I am usually up between 530 and 630am... I opened my eyes and my clock read 7:14.. I have to be at work to start at 8:00am.. I jumped up pretty quick..lol
I have done really well so far today in regards to eating.. I had breakfast and a small snack.. so I am back on the "mend" as far as getting in my meals.

Mary, I really enjoy the Turbo Jam videos as well.. She really gets you moving! I wish I had a heart rate monitor to track my burned calories ~... I have a (i think i still do anyway...) pedometer that used to track my calories burned.. might have to find a battery for it... IF I can find it..lol

Echo, Turbo jam is like a dancy-ish kickboxing/marshal arts.. it is really effective and really fun and upbeat ..here is a link to the site for it, down near the bottom there is a lil video you can watch, and you can look it up on you tube as well. http://www.beachbody.com/product/fit...mum_results.do

Isabella..you rawk! I agree.. I am taking on that mentality as well.. reading what you wrote about your cookie baking really helped reinforced my motivation! thank you!

Alright ladies.. I will be back this evening.. I hope everyone is having a great day!

Soon2BFitChick 12-03-2009 03:33 PM

Hi everyone!! I'm 210.0. Down from 229 in Sept. Still can't taste food from having this tonsil surgery. I looked online and lots of ppl still can't taste normally and sweets taste awful. Told my husband too bad this couldn't be a weight loss surgery. I have no desire to eat junk at all. Only fruits, veggies, milk, etc. It's so weird. So lost about 20 lbs since end of Sept. Yay! But I'm a little depressed because I can't enjoy food. Haven't since Sept. 23. I just think about getting it into my stomach so it'll stop growling and that's it. Once it stops and I feel better, I stop eating. No matter what food it is. It really has made me see how people who don't crave sweets, etc. must live daily. They eat what they think their body needs. I also heard that some ppl are Super Tasters? Dr Oz or someone said some of us taste food more strongly? Now I must be the opposite. It's like thinking you r drinking Coke but then it's really half water and half generic cola. Just no taste and a hint of yuk taste. Wish me luck that my taste comes back enough to enjoy a meal but not enough that I'm a Super Taster again! LOL!!!

Otherwise, I guess I'm glad this happened. I'll grieve for my tastebuds and then move on. At least I'll end up pretty thin. If it stays this way because I can't hardly smell either since they took out my adenoids too. So when other ppl eat it doesn't bother me like when I'm normal and dieting. I just hate I can't taste because when I cook for my family I can't make sure it tastes right. So that is not good. But I am stuck with this for now anyway. Some ppl said it took 2 yrs to get their taste back but then another guy said, What if they just got used to it!... We may never get it back!! Scary thought.

Talk to you all soon, when I get some time!! I miss you guys!! Oh and I posted my weight just for fun. Started at 229 and I'm 210 now. So down 67 total from my heaviest. And I had no idea this surgery could even affect tasting much less take it away. Isn't that crazy?? All I was hoping really was to lose down to 202 or so by March next year! LOL. So guess I'll make it. :)

Bye for now!!

Hugs, Selina

maryshady 12-03-2009 04:59 PM

Selina-I remember when my sis had her stomach stapled. She was really angry for the first 4 months or so cause she couldn't eat the things she used to love. She could still taste them but they would make her so sick. She was over 300 lbs when she had it done and now some 8 years later her weight holds at about 160. When she started to lose the weight and get her life back she eventually missed those foods less and less. So I guess she just got used to not being able to eat those foods and since she was so happy with her new health and body it didn't matter anymore. kwim?

I know its not exactly the same but count it as a blessing for now and pray for some taste back.

My son had his tonsils out at 19 was very sick for about 3 weeks but it didn't effect his taste buds at all. I never even knew it could.

Will be praying for you and your taste buds!

and hey no need to apolagise!

Sorry to hear that Selina about your taste buds. you poor thing. i remember when i had my tonsils out. i cant remember whether i could taste things or not. but i do remember i wasnt able to talk for quite awhile and then my family would force me to try to start talking and using my throat. i was just 8 at the time.

im sure your taste buds will come back soon enough when everything is settled down. i also didnt know they can be affected.

great job on the weight loss though!

i've also heard about super tasters. someone once told me thats why she doesnt like vegetables cause she's a super taster!
