Blue Team - Week 6 Chat Thread

Welcome to Week 6! Some of you mentioned extending the dare challenge from last week, so unless we have someone else start a challenge thread, I say go ahead with the dares.

Echo 10-19-2009 10:53 AM

Thanks Dixie! :)

I just made a new thread for the food and exercise diary. i made a typo in the title, called ourself Nlue Team lol doh! :o so i closed that thread. hopefully a mod will come along and delete the thread. :o sorry!!!:(

Echo, I really appreciate all the illustrations and links you provide when explaining things. I didn't have a clue what you were talking about until I saw the pics. I definitely won't be doing any of those exercises. Hahaha...I'll pass them on to DH.

I don't mind if the "Dare" challenge is extended another week or along side another one. That's my vote.
Awwww thank you so much Isabella!! (what a beautiful name by the way! love it) That's so nice of you to say, I really appreciate it :) Thank you so much

I have great news! Hubby is back to working full time and that means I get to cut back on my work here as we'll no longer be depending just on me I can give more time to other things like taking care of myself now...
Thats awesome Skinnyjeans!

I think you are doing just awesome! I keep thinking I want to start going out to the track and attempting c25k but I always feel I can't do it, I'm too weak, too heavy, etc.
You should do it! its a great programe! i started it a month ago, and did week 1 for quite awhile, and today i'm going to do week 2.
you can get free podcasts from itunes.

Iwanawurkit and Diva

--

Dont worry - i also gained a pound from last week. lets just kick it this week so we have a greater loss this week!! we can be partners in crime hehe :cb: :broc: :carrot:
Besides Diva, you had so much on your plate and you were sick and TOM!! its to be expected. its not a real gain! you will be able to shed it in no time. besides when your sick best not to exercise and let your body rest so it can heal itself.

Oh, and my aunt stopped by too. Haven't seen her in 5 months or so, the first thing she said was "Wow!" and spun me around and told me I have no butt ( I wish!) so I took that as a huge compliment. She didn't even know I had been trying to lose weight, so it meant even more. Now, that's motivation!
Aww that's a great boost indeed! you go girl!

This morning the postman delivered my book!! Master your metabolism by jillian michaels, i'm so excited :cb:  i cant wait to delve into reading it :book2:

Echo- Happy Reading

Nella 10-19-2009 11:58 AM

Echo, I enjoyed reading that one. I did learn a lot from it.

Somni 10-19-2009 12:08 PM

I had a gain last Monday's weigh in... 3.0. I hadn't been quite where I wanted with exercise and had restarted weight training, but I still was rather surprised by the big gain. I took a freebie and just tried to work really hard this week. Lost 3.2 this week.. so well really just 0.2 loss after figuring in the gain but I'm glad I didn't let that gain linger around at least. (Trying to think positively here!)

I've been changing my routine lately but it feels like I'm finally kind of getting into the swing of it all. I like the improvements I'm making to my exercise schedule, I feel like the energy and motivation are picking up. I'm reading Slow Fat Triathlete and really enjoying that!

retiredone 10-19-2009 12:11 PM

Good afternoon Blue Team members. I see that a few of you gained a little this past week. Don't beat yourselves up over that.

Some of you were sick and that's stressful enough without trying to lose weight at the same time. Life has to be taken care of sometimes. And when you're sick with a fever, headache and aching muscles no one will fault you for not losing that pound or two. So don't fault yourself.

And some of you have done everything right and still gained. Well, give yourself a pat on the back and keep up the good work. Next week you'll see a difference.

And some of you just didn't care and ate whatever you wanted and didn't exercise. Well, sometimes that happens and this week you'll do better because it's not the team you're letting down--it's yourself. So do yourself a favor and stay on plan this week.

We've all been in each situation so if it's the first time for you, you're in good company!

That's my sermon for the day.

Echo, Isabella was my grandmother's name and it was her grandmother's name. Now, all I have to do is convince one of my sons to name a granddaughter after me when they have a daughter. :D Oh, enjoy your book.

SkinnyJeans, that's great news about your DH. Now, you have a choice about the extra work.

Dixied, you look great in your avatar. No wonder with all that running.

Nella, our DS bought an old house nearly 100 years old. When we first saw the house it was run-down and really dirty with cobwebs hanging off everything. I felt like Lily Munster walking around that house. (If you guys don't know who the Munsters were, you're way younger than I. Hahaha) DH and I helped them with their renovations and they eventually sold the house and made a handsome profit and bought a house that was only 15 years old (that still needs renovations). So I know what you were talking about. I'm sure your house wasn't as run-down as DS's first one but it takes heap of renovations to make a house a home. Great compliment from your aunt, btw. You must have been tickled pink.

I had a good walk this morning. Cold and a few snow flurries starting to fall but I kept up a good pace and wasn't chilly at all. I'm going to try to do more flapping arm exercises (jumping jacks) today. My right arm is still a bit sore so I'll skip the counter push ups until tomorrow. I guess I'll alternate the days with resistance and aerobic but walk every day. Now to check out the challenge.

Catch you all later my sweet team members.

I didn't know the podcasts were free! Thanks for telling me that, was wondering how I would time those seconds for the intervals.

SweetScrumptious 10-19-2009 01:31 PM

Ugh - I had to put a freebie in for this week! I started the week gaining back a couple lbs from all the sodium I ingested from Thanksgiving! It's just 'starting' to go back now. I have been really stressed from school too so I think some weight gain around there as well... Hopefully better this week!

dixied 10-19-2009 01:36 PM

Just checking in with a rant:

If you can search for clothes by color/designer/price/material, why the heck can't I search for workout pants by whether or not they have pockets!

Okay, back to our regularlly scheduled chat!

retiredone 10-19-2009 02:17 PM

I'd like to search for workout pants that didn't have to be hemmed! I could sew up the bottoms and have booties like baby's sleepers.

expatter 10-19-2009 02:47 PM

Hi all, I've been MIA from that chat for a few weeks, though I've kept up with the weigh-ins. I was glancing through the weigh-ins (I opted to take a freebie week) and was surprised at how many members we seem to have lost. I decided I'll make a concerted effort to check-in here when I can!

The one shout-out I'd like to make is to congratulate Echo on passing her PhD!! My closest friend has been working on hers for TEN YEARS (talk about a Master Procrastinator) so know it's a big deal - not to mention an enormous relief - to have completed it. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Narnia99 10-19-2009 03:04 PM

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been good with checking in this week. It's been one of those weeks were I seemed to be on the go everyday. I stayed on plan so I am happy about that, but I am not happy that I weighed in today 2 lbs heavier than last week :( It's that TOM so I guess that could be a factor, and I've also been having some tummy troubles this week. I wonder if I should have taken a freebie week. How does everyone decide if and when to take a freebie week?

Retire, I love reading your "sermons" :) I hope your arm feels better soon.

Skinnyjeans, that is great news about your dh.

Echo, I really enjoyed Jillian's book. I learned a lot from it. Have fun reading!

A big  to everyone else. Let's have a good week blue team!

Hello! Checking back in. Post swine flu, kidney's acting up, and then catching up from work... I am REALLY back!! I had my first good workout last night in about 4 weeks!! It felt so good :)

Can't wait to get caught up with all of you ladies. I think I think about this forum everyday to help with my choices.

Happy Monday all you Beautiful Bluesers !

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I pretty much sat on my butt all weekend. We went up to a friends' cabin in the middle of nowhere and it rained the whole time so got in a bunch of reading and movies.

I had great news as I was going out of town. Stopped at the Doctor's office for him to OK my scuba lessons and he has decided to cut my BP and Diabetese medications in half !! This is a huge step in the right direction. He also signed my Scuba forms so off I go in about 2 hours for my first lesson.

Have a great week all !!

Hi Guys!

I've been such a slacker lately, and haven't posted for a couple of weeks...just too busy with so many family things going on...but I *hope* to get back on track here.
I hope everyone is doing well with your goal!

Have a wonderful week!

LOL Echo!

I can't wait until you read the book, it was life changing for me. Really, until I read the book I don't think I would have maintained my weight loss, or changed my life for that matter.

I also read winning for losing, it is a good companion book.

Me thinks that Buble is FINE:D

Hi Blue team, I'm baaack!

Our wedding was absolutely amazing - I couldn't have asked for a more amazing day! The whole weekend was full of family, friends, and good fun times. We just spent a week in San Francisco and Monterey for our honeymoon - the longest vacation either of us had taken in more than 3 years!

After 2 weeks of not working out and eating whatever we wanted, I was pleasantly surprised to have only a 3.2lb gain when I weighed in this morning. We're back in action now that we're home from the honeymoon, so I'm confident that weight will disappear soon.

Can't wait to get back in the loop around here and get back to being a good Blue team member!

Nella 10-19-2009 10:16 PM

Practice - Congrats on the wedding!! Glad you had a lovely honeymoon! Many wishes for a long happy life together!

Congrats Practice! You sure can't beat that--a great wedding/honeymoon AND a great weigh in!

So does anyone else HATE changing out their clothes with the seasons? I do. There's bags and bags of clothes everywhere. And sorting them out is awful. Which ones do I like? Which ones don't fit anymore? Which ones don't fit and haven't fit for the past three years, but I've kept hanging on to them thinking maybe they would magically just slip on? Oh well. It must be done.

Bigsexy - I did that last week. I had a HUGE trash bag full of stuff to take to Goodwill. It felt good to purge some of it, and even better to fit in a lot more of what I do have.

So, stupid TOM ruined my day yesterday. My weight yesterday was 175.4 (-1.0) which was cool, it was a loss, but today it was 173.8, which would have been a (-2.6) loss. Oh well, next week will rock! lol

Hope everyone has a great day!

practiceliving 10-20-2009 10:43 AM

Yeah, I hate this! Right now my struggle is that most of my fall/winter clothes don't fit, but I don't want to buy much more in my current size. How can I make my summer clothes stretch through fall/winter? Can I creatively make last year's stuff work without looking silly?

retiredone 10-20-2009 11:44 AM

Welcome back Mrs. Practice. So glad you had a great wedding and honeymoon.

Bigsexy, I'm of the opinion that we all have way too many clothes. I'm not saying that you do, though. I volunteer at the Goodwill Center and my church also has a free clothing store and I see so much good used and badly used clothing come through. We (women, in general) are slaves to the fashion industry...sigh... Good luck with your sorting. :)

Leslie, have fun with those scuba lessons. You've got more nerve that I do.

Hi Suzie. We miss you when you're not here.

Nella, you're doing great.

I did the exercise challenge today that Echo posted yesterday or maybe the day before. If any of you are at a loss for a good workout check out the challenge thread. It says week 5 but we're continuing on into week 6 with it.

DH bought home a huge bag of wind fall apples last night. So I made applesauce last night (8.5 pint jars) and today I made up the last of the apples into 3 pies. The pies are going in the freezer for entertaining but they look so good sitting out there on the kitchen table.

Keep up the good work, Blue troop. We shall overcome.

happeningf 10-20-2009 12:59 PM

Leslie, congrats on the medication cut!

My bf surprised me with a trip to Maui, and all we did was snorkel. It was EXTREMELY scary at first because I am not an "open water" person that was the scariest part, but I got used to it and as long as he was holding my hand I was fine. I don't know if I could ever dive! I tend to panic and pant easily when scared.

I do also get VERY sea sick and in that crazy boat ride to Molokini crater 3 miles off the island I was extremely queasy. I didn't even want to get off the boat but sitting in it rocking was worse. So we jumped off with our snorkels, and we were told that we cannot feed the fish/animals/birds on the crater nor touch anything because it's a protected reserve.

Well after a few stroked I straight up vomited straight down underwater, it was disgusting. And next thing you know... fish Swarmed all around me to eat it up! Then everyone else snorkeling around me saw the swarm and got really excited "look, something's happening over there! The fish are all around her, let's go over! Awesome!" and they all came around my area to touch/see the fish. Not my best moment, and no way did I tell anyone what I did to get those fish around me (but my bf thought it was hilarious)

Practice, congrats on the wedding! Hopefully a wedding in my future, maybe a few more public humiliations under my belt to keep the guy entertained first... :)

Let's go girls, I need you guys more than ever these next two weeks! This gal is wearing boy shorts with fishnets for her Halloween costume!

maryshady 10-20-2009 05:38 PM

I'm still here just feeling lousy. My sciatic is acting up again, back is killing me and TOM started. it would be funny if it wasn't so painful. Needless to say no working out this week but I am watching what I eat so hopefully I will see another loss next week.

Practice-So glad everything went well. Congrats!!! Many happy wishes for a long life together. I will be celebrating 22 years of marriage on Nov. 7. Marriage can be such a wonderful thing if you go in expecting it to have its ups and downs and believing the ups will be better than the downs! Maybe try some consignment/thrift shops to find cheap clothes that fit.

Happening-LMAO! funny story thank God no one knew the real reason for all the fish!

Hi to everyone else!!

I'm glad you had a nice surprise! And I'm sorry, because this was the funniest thing I have read/heard in the longest time. I can't imagine how you felt at that moment, I would have been mortified, but in retrospect, it's going to be one of those stories you tell forever.

Ok, now down to business - You work it girl!! Fishnets and boy shorts here you come!! I know you'll look great!

Nixmom 10-20-2009 11:23 PM

practiceliving - :carrot::carrot::carrot: Yay for being a Mrs. :carrot::carrot::carrot: Sounds like you got a well deserved celebration! We are talking about getting married in June 2010 and I want it to be like that. Family, friends and fun! God bless your marriage! You deserve a fantastic life!

LeslieB- nice work on cutting the meds! What an NSV!!! And scuba diving! I have often thought about looking into taking lessons. We are river junkies and I hear there are some good finds after big weekends at Lake Havasu! I am just petrified I may end up feeding the fish like HAPPENING! lol!

Maryshady - sister, sister - heres to a speedy recovery. Nothing like be gained up on by your on body. Take good care of yourself, and fuel your body right, you will be back to good in no time! Our bodies know when its time to rest!

I completed my 2nd night with crazy instructor woman at bootcamp. I swear she has got to be the closest thing to Jillian without actually being on the show. Standing on my quads while I'm doing wall squats. Smacking my booty when its sticking up during my pushups. 20 more of whatever if anyone drops their arms, weights, legs. SHEESH. And I'm the less than strong newbie (the only one by the way) feeling like I am just learning to walk. But the results on the scale have been great and I put on pants today that I haven't worn in 6 months. Times they are a changing in my house ladies!

Off to watch TBL!

Wow, I need to visit more often, I'm way behind in my reading.

Sorry so many have struggled this week, I know this time of year is so hard to stay OP, but we all can do this, just one day at a time.

Practice-Congrats, enjoy wedded bliss, and welcome back :carrot:

Leslie-:carrot: :D:carrot: Here's to no more Medication

happeningf-Wow!! Maui, so wonderful, not so much the suba diving, but hope the rest of the trip make up for that.

Mary-Hope you feel better, not much you can do when the back is in pain, everything hurts, and you can never get comforable. Just try to take it easy, and keep moving as best you can.

Nixmom-Wow that sounds like quite the workout, I know at my work they have a bootcamp starting up, and it's being taught by an army sergent. I would sign up, but it's during my work hrs, don't have that many vacation days left, but it sounds like it's a butt kicking workout.

retiredone-Apples are so delicious, nothing like a crisp sweet apple, and homemade apple pie is Yumm-O

bigsexy-I totally agree, and now it's getting cold so can't put it off, I must also go through my "Winter Stash", the only good thing about it is, I plan to just get rid of my bigger summer clothes, no plans to ever fit into any of it again. So that means a shopping trip is in my near future, since all the summer stuff is on sale right now. ;)

dixied-I know I only have one pair of those workout pants with that cute little pocket for my ipod, and they are bright orange, I love them! Good luck on your quest, for yours!

Hi to everyone that I missed-hope this week is a better week for all, sickness and struggles will be gone.

****************
Well I just finished my first week of CLX {ChaLean Extreme} Wow, I'm so sore, but in a very good way, not pain sore, it's just letting me know how much I need to weight lift. Which by the way is what I needed, I have no upper arm strength, know that by how hard those planks and pushups are on me.

Need to get my act in gear, have a dentist appt :(, and need to get moving
have a great day.

Nella 10-21-2009 09:48 AM

Nixmom - Wow! that does sound like Jillian!! Sounds awesome though, and you're right, the scale is telling you it is working!

Mary - I hope you feel better soon!

Practice - Great quote!

Hope you chickies are having a great week! I am proudly wearing my "test" jeans today!!! These are the jeans I tried on once a week to check my progress because they have zero stretch to them. When I began this they wouldn't go over my hips, now they fit and button comfortably, close fitting around my legs, but loose in the waist (I have large hips/thighs in proportion to my waist, so I get that annoying gap in the back). Needless to say, I'm pretty pumped.

retiredone 10-21-2009 10:33 AM

Happening, that fish story was so grossly funny. Poor you. Glad you escaped without undue humiliation.

Mary, hope you're feeling much better today.

Nella, WTG with the test jeans. That's awesome.

Nixmom
, sounds like brutal workout was survived by you. Congratulations on fitting in those pants again. Nothing like a NSV to brighten up the day.

Practice, thanks for the quote. Very inspiring.

Institches
, sounds like you're doing great with your exercise program, too. Have a great time at the dentist.

It's cold here again today. It's even cold in the house. I'm wearing a scarf around my neck that I had on while walking. I lit the wood furnace a while ago but it hasn't warmed up yet. By lunch it will be so hot I'll be ready to walk around naked. Although it was cold it wasn't windy this morning and when I walked by the bay the water was as calm as a mirror. There were 3 pair of loons floating and ducking and calling to each other and one lone seagull. I stopped and watched longer than I usually do because it was so peaceful this morning.

I'm home alone most of the day as DH has a bus driver's inservice with the school board today. School's out for the next 2 days for a district wide inservice for all teachers and school board employees. So no time constraints on me today to get dinner on the table by 12:15 pm. DH won't be home until 4 or 4:30. We'll have dinner tonight instead of our usual lunch time.

Must go and put another dish away. I'm slowly emptying the dishwasher. http://www.veggieboards.com/boards/i...ilies/grin.gif Catch you all later.

Hi everyone, I've been struggling to stay on plan lately, but so far I have. I don't normally have a hard time with my TOM, but for some reason this one is wiping me out. Anyway, I am glad that I didn't give in to comfort eating as the extra two pounds that appeared for Monday's weigh-in are now gone.

Marianne - Welcome back. Congratulations on your wedding. Glad that your day was perfect and that you had a wonderful honeymoon!

Happening - Maui - what a nice surprise!

Mary - I hope you are feeling better

LeslieB - That is awesome that you are able to cut your meds. Congratulations!

Nixmom - Wow, your bootcamp instructor sounds intense! Good for you for making it through the classes. Congratulations on your pants that is fantastic!

Institches - How are you liking CLX? I've had my eye on it for awhile so would love to hear what you think of the program so far.

Retire - Sounds like the perfect walk.

Nella - Congratulations on the test pants, that is awesome!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day :)

Just sorta an update / checking in - I have finally gotten FULLY back to my work outs, at least doing 500 calories a day for the past 4 days!!!

Hopefully I'll pull some weight loss this week for the team!!
