Hi, quick question, as the teams have not been allocated yet and Im not sure who to ask.. I have signed up for the challange starting soon, but I am away on holidays from the 6th to the 14th sept. Can I weight in early, on the 5th? or am i going to miss vital parts of the challange by being away that week?

You'll need to submit your weight on the 5th to me via pm before you leave in order to make sure you'll be assigned. Everyone else will start submitting on the 6th in the thread that will be made.
The closer you wait until the 5th is probably better for accuracy.
ok, thank you, I will do that. is that all I need to submit?
As soon as you get home on the 14th, come here and look to see what team you are on (RED or BLUE Team Weigh In threads) make your make your weigh in post. You'll see how everyone else does it. Remember that Monday nights at 11:59 EST is WI dead line for the previous week.
OK, so just so I am not confused, I need to pm in my start weight on the 5th before I leave and then when I get back on the 14th update my weight for W1 before mon 15th 11.59pmEST? There is an incentive not to put on any weight while away! Thanks

You don't have to weigh right away when you return from vacation.
Since the challenge (and week 1) start on the 14th, Week One runs from 9/14 to 9/20, so the weigh in deadline for Week One is 11:59 pm EST on Monday 9/22.
Essentially you are taking vacation during what I would call the "verification stage." This is where we take all the names of those that have signed up and wait patiently for them to weigh in before we tally and divvy up the teams. You really aren't missing anything in the actual challenge itself.
Hope that clears some stuff up for you... Have a great vacation!
Ah ok..brilliant, so I give you my weight before I go away on the 6th and then ahve two weeks to have a holiday and fix any damage I cause (hopefully minimal) before weighting in again on before the 22nd. OK got it. Thanks.
Yes the sign up thread will be closed and then you'll have to post your starting weight in a new thread that Chelle will start. She uses that information to build teams. She likes them to start out fairly even in weight.
I've signed up and sent in my starting weight. But I'm going to be on vacation and without internet access from 9/12 to 9/28. Since I won't know what team I'm on until after week 1 is finished, I need to let both team leaders know that if I'm on their team, they should use a vacation week for the first week for me. Who are the team leaders? I think Chellez is one, but I'm not sure. I'll PM them with this information once I know who they are.

After looking at the calendar, I came to the conclusion that this is a really risky move for a few reasons.
The first week is really when you get to know your team etc. You'll be missing out on not just that week but the second week as well. I'm not saying that your team won't welcome you with open arms, but coming in 2 weeks late may be awkward.
Probably the most important reason I can spot is that you leave before you even have a chance to weigh in for week one and come back pushing a really tight deadline for weighing in for week two. If you use your 2 freebie weeks (Note: there are no vacation freebies this round), I fear that it sets you up for a situation that you may need those weeks later and you won't have them.
I'm not trying to suggest that you not participate, just offering outside analysis to point out potential risk factors.
Thanks for the thoughts. This is my first challenge, and I'm willing to give it a shot. It's a pretty active vacation (backpacking in the Grand Canyon, woo hoo!), so I'm hopeful that I'll only need to use the one freebie week.
