JB Blue Team Chat # 10
:dizzy:
|
Hi Josephine! How was CA?
|
I saw on the last thread that the new season of TBL starts on Sept 16th. That's perfect I will be coming back from vacation.
|
OK ... something is wrong with my elliptical. They have ordered some parts based on what they think is wrong from talking to us and in 3-5 days when they come in they will come and fix and service it.
I think we are going to have to have it serviced regularly since I am on it for 4.8+ miles a day on average. So until it is fixed it will be the bike and going over to use Mom's occasionally. SUCKS! I am though excited that TBL starts in less than 8 weeks (6 wks from the end of the challenge). I am going to push hard food and exercise wise to try and get down at least 8 lbs and 2 additional inches during that time period. I would like to be around 190 when we start ... will see how it goes. I have moved my food up a little based on the amount of exercising I am doing (whch is probably why the elliptical is broken - Murphy's Law). I am hoping that this will help get me more steady on track again. Have a good night everyone! |
GREAT JOB KELLY ON ALL YOUR 'little" MILESTONES!
http://dl.glitter-graphics.net/pub/6...k05ymdti0o.gif Come on TEAM BLUE, let's take this challenge HOME!!! http://dl4.glitter-graphics.net/pub/...ho5avprc32.jpg |
I have Good New, Good News, Bad News, and Bad News
As I said previously my elliptical was having issues. My DH made arrangements for parts and for a service person to come out an fix it, which all had to pe paid for up front (almost $280). Well, he got his tools from my Mother's house where he had been doing some work and took it apart last night because he thought he might have an idea what it wrong with it. Good News #1: He found the problem and can fix it himself once the parts arrive Good News #2: We can cancel the $139 service call and only pay the other half for the parts (get a refund on what we paid) Bad News #1: My elliptical is in pieces and I can't use it Bad News #2: The parts will probably arrive while he is off at Cub World with DS and I will have to wait until he gets home next Thursday to fix it So as of this morning I have no Elliptical to run on. So this obvious unmotivated me this morning and I slept in instead of working out on the bike this morning, doing Wii Yoga, Hooping, ... something ... anything. I need you all to keep after me to get my other exercise in at a minimum and to try and get the bike done to make up for the Elliptical. I am going to have to hit my Mom's a couple times or I won't be able to do my 30 minute runs anymore by the time mine is fixed. |
Ugh, I'm feeling frustrated about my online communities lately. Not this thread, of course, since BLUE TEAM ROCKS! But I post on some other boards as well (not just on 3FC--shh, don't tell!), and I just feel like I'm always trying so hard to point out the positive and be upbeat when it comes to giving suggestions or advice, and people just shoot me down left and right like I'm a moron. I just want to reach through the computer and smack some people :dizzy: If someone were to offer me a suggestion or personal experience, I wouldn't respond with something like, "That's not the exact question I asked." Umm, even if it's not, for starters, you don't have to be snotty about it, and, furthermore, the info I'm offering may still be helpful--it's not as if someone asks about flowers and I tell them to make sure their dog gets vaccinated--it's all relevant information to the topic.
Anyway, I'm probably just being oversensitive. Off to my doc's appointment in about 10 minutes. My weight is up a bit, so I may need to take a freebie this week. I blame my TOM, which seems to actually be becoming my time-of-every-other-week-or-whenever-else-it-feels-like-randomly-popping-up. I just had a full period a couple weeks ago, and here I am spotting again. I HATE these new pills with a passion. Wow, could I complain more, maybe be a bit of a bigger baby? :dizzy: |
Kelly -- Get your fanny out there and do some exercise, girl! You don't want to rely on just one piece of equipment anyway, so you should consider this blip in elliptical performance to be an opportunity for some lovely cross training and experimentation. I WANNA SEE SOME SWEAT! So report in...
Jill -- Sorry the new pills make your TOM so nutty, that would drive me crazy, too. I'm sure the advice you are offering on your other board is great, but some people are just so hard to reach, aren't they? They are only hurting themselves in the long run by not really listening with an open mind. Nori -- Vacation was incredibly, super-duper, over-the-top awesome. :) I wish it could have gone on forever. I loved the area and DH I and spent the long flight back home pouring over maps planning another trip with lots of back-country hiking and camping. We just couldn't get enough! If you're an outdoor enthusiast, the area offers so much. We hiked, trail ran, and rented bikes. The only thing we didn't get to do that I think would have been outstanding is rent sea kayaks, we'll be sure to do that next time. |
Josephine - I don't really rely on my Elliptical as my only form of exercise, it is kind of like my warmup/wakeup in the mornings. I do my Wii Yoga about 3times a week, I do my lifting about 3 times a week, I do my hooping about 3 times a week, etc, but this is my 6 days a week thing. This is what I generally do every day ... it is what gets me going in the morning.
I feel like a slug without it and the bike just doesn't rev me up like the Elliptical. I will be on the bike tomorrow morning and on Saturday, I am going to get my butt up early and head over to Mom's house to run on her elliptical. Will probably get in some Wii Yoga, Situps, and Lifting in tonight. I am also going to try and get at least 1 mile in on Mom's elliptical as my lifting warmup (we do an areobic warmup before starting to lift to warm the muscles up and it is usually 10 minutes, but I can get a mile in 12, so I may do that. I will workout today, it just doesn't feel the same without "My" elliptical. It could be worse, it could have been broken beyond repair. That would have really sucked ... so I need to focus on that bright side and just suck up my lost week with my morning wakeup buddy. |
LOL, I forgot that you are a workout queen, lady (I still have vacation brain!)! I think with your motivation you will survive the temporary loss of your morning workout buddy, plus you have a good plan!
I missed this morning's run window (it's too hot out now) and will be heading over to my mom's house to run on her treadmill, too. Thank goodness for mothers with exercise equipment! |
Josephine - I don't think I qualify as the workout queen, since Amy has twice as many minutes as me, but I figure I do good considering I work full time, have a DH who works 24 hours shifts and is only home 1/2 the time, and a son who does Black Belt TKD, Soccer, Cub Scouts, and school. Sometimes I think of that morning workout as my time.
I can't wait until TBL though, when I get 2 hours every Tuesday of my time. I go down in the basement to the workout room and refuse to deal with anyone (unless the DH is working then I cut out for 20 minutes and get the kid to bed and back to me) It is my selfish time, but I only do it then and during the show season, so I figure I can afford to be a little "Me-ish" for about 12-15 days out of the year:) (or 24-30 if they do 2 seasons in a year). |
Good morning, Bluesers.
I'm still on-plan and waiting for the scales to respond. Yesterday, I pulled out the resistance bands and set up a workout for those. Hopefully, the inches will start dropping even if the scales don't move an ounce! Today, the stomach is calm but the head is hurting. Jeeze, it's always something.:dizzy: Jill - I have my places that I love here on 3FC ...my Bluesers and my 100lb Club. I love these places because of the friendly supportive atmosphere. I've ventured into some other areas, but I've not found the same atmosphere in other areas. Just hang with us, Hon. We appreciate you! Kelly - It must be so frustrating to have your routine disrupted. Just keep telling yourself that this is temporary. You'll have your elliptical back soon. I'm seriously considering putting the scales away during the hiatus between challenges and seeing what I can do. I'll really hit the exercise and get tight on the calorie planning and the menus. No promises....just seriously considering it right now. Hope everyone has a great on-plan day. :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3: GO BLUE! :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3: |
Rhonda - thanks for the sympathy on the loss of my Elliptical (that really sounds pathetic of me, but funny)
As for your thoughts on putting your scale away, give it a try. BUT, make sure you are committed to your new regime of food and exercise. I find that you need to use something to make you accountable. Maybe like some people you can count your days OP (I include exercise as part of my daily plan so I can only count myself OP if I get my exercise done and my eating plan followed). I find that in somewhay we all need that. The scale isn't the tool for all of us to use for accountability. I use multiple means, but my main one is the scale. I find it often tells me things I might miss otherwise, like the fact that I wasn't eating enough with my exercise plan. I found that the scale moved very little last month because of that, but I still lost around 3 inches over last month. Use what you need when you need it. Find your tool to help you on this journey ... we are here for you:-) |
Amy? Where are you? Come out of hiding wherever you are. Don't make us get on an airplane to come find you!
|
Rhonda ... I'm game to head to Australia to help you find her ... just let me grab my dive gear:D
|
Wait... DO make us get on an airplane to find you... I sure could use a trip to Australia! ;)
But really, we'd love to hear from you whenever you get a moment! Hope everything's ok! |

LMAO we have been very busy.... OK .. I'm sure you guys know I'm not a drinker.. the last time i drank anything alcoholic.(1999). i ended up sick for weeks and pregnant.. to boot.. lol << making up for being so sick over new years hubbies birthday etc.. I'm actually allergic to most drinks.. as i cant handle preservatives.. i get covered in a rash from head to toe, got bright red.. and then end up with Gastro type symptoms.. for a week or two.. well Wednesday night hubby took us all out for dinner .. he bought me a lemon ruski.. ( which is OK doesn't set me off to bad ) and then two glasses of sweet white wine ( also OK for once) .. i was drunk.. lol .. my head was spinning and i was quite enjoying the loopy feeling i had and hubby bought some more wine on the way home.. which we drunk at home along with some Baileys.. LMAO.. I drove my hubby insane.( after he got what he wanted anyway ). he said i was just talking.. and talking .. he was trying to watch a movie.. lol ... .. i had enough brains to drink heaps of water mind you.. i would have had nearly 2 liters.. before i went to sleep.. and Thursday i was fine.. not head ache nothing.. Thursday was Leah's first day of kindy.. i felt so lost.. i was jealous of everyone with there daughter with them at the shops.. when we went up to look at the toy sale.. ( birthdays and Xmas coming.. Labs for Xmas now) i was fidgety couldn't make up my mind and couldn't stop thinning about Leah.. When we picked her up she has a rash from her bottom to her ankles and was miserable.. silly girl went in the sandpit.. ( even though i had told the teacher she couldn't). but i gave her antihistamines.. and we took the kids tenpin bowling yesterday afternoon after kindy.. :) they loved it we had 3 games .. Cameron beat me in the first game.. i got 70 something lol.. and then i got 120 in the second game and 90 in the third.. yup i suck but it was funny as ****.. without the kiddy bumpers i would have had alot less. This morning John flew out again.. so the kids were upset we went out early I took them to playgroup and then to my mums for the rest of the day.. we had dinner late and the kids went to be.. just after they ate.. ( Cameron's school did school swimming this week so we gave him and extra week off school.. its freezing here and the middle of winter last year he got very ill after going swimming theirs time of year had a temp of 42.8c degrees and got pneumonia.. i told them if they didn't change it he wouldn't attend.. and daddy was home anyway).. they was about as short as i could tell your's whats been going on.. i was down to 263 earlier in the week but I'm not now after my bender Wednesday night too many carbs this week and not enough exercise ( the right kind anyway ;) ) lol |

Morning Gang, TGIF!!! :cheer3:
Anybody have any fun plans for the weekend? |
Amy- Glad to see you back!!
Rhonda- I was thinking the same thing about the scale, but like Kelly said I think I may need the accountability. But I'm still thinking about it. Heck just jumping on the scale on weigh in days is hard for me. I had to put away my scale so I would only get on once a week. :) Keep up the good work with being OP I know the scales will show you some love next time  Josephine-I have an all day scrapbooking crop tomorrow from 9am to 6pm and I'm hoping to get a lot done on my son's album. They usually order pretty bad food, so I'm thinking of bringing my own lunch and snacks so I won't be tempted. I have been OP 17 days! No binge eating and I have tracked my points every day! :D I'm looking forward to day #18 OP today! Hope everyone has a great OP day!! |
Man, my little foray into strength training Wednesday night caught up with me this morning! OW! I haven't been sore like this in months.
Amy - Glad to see you back to posting. Sounds like you had an adventuresome time... ;) Josephine - TGIF is right. This week couldn't get any longer. Tomorrow I'm going on a hike up to some waterfalls. Unfortunately the route is an out-and-back, which is kind of boring frankly, but it's closer to town than the loops I want to try. So I'll settle for this trek since it's supposed to show me the highest waterfalls East of the Mississippi! I'm not quite sure whether I'll have company for the hike or not... DH and I are in a little tiff (well... More like he exploded and I sat there in the ruins wondering what happened), and aren't really talking about it. So I'd be okay if he wants to have his pity party alone while I go do fun stuff in the mountains. We shall see! |
Jennifer - WTG on being OP 17 days and not binging! That's wonderful! Bringing your own food to the scrapbooking thing sounds like a great idea. You wouldn't want the convenience of the bad foods to throw you off track and mess with your awesome progress! You are doing so well!! :cheer3:
|
Morning everyone :sunny:
TGIF indeed!! Amy, very glad you're back... :D Fun plans? ummm...lets see... Tonight, we're going for Happy Hour with bunch of friends to 'Howl at the Moon' in downtown Baltimore. One of my friends won something at this place and she can invite 100 people. Drinks are like $1 and first 2 are free with complimentary appetizer buffet. I'm not much of a drinker or to put it another way it doesn't take a lot for me to get drunk :D We're taking the metro to the harbor so it should be cool. Buffet might be a problem but I'm thinking I might be ok. We'll see. Saturday, I have relatives coming over for dinner tomorrow night. My uncle (dad's brother), aunt and their family (sons and DILs) and my grandfather from VA. Oh and they've never been to our place before. So we had to cook for about 9 people (all cooked in advance and frozen) and clean our place. We still got our office to clean up which we'll work on tonight. Cuz I know they'll want a tour of our TH. There's still so much to do to make sure things go flawless :dizzy: Sunday, is pretty much going to be recouping from all relatives overdoze ;) BTW Thanks Jaime, I found a No Sugar Added apple pie for my uncle @ Safeway. I've never had it before so I hope it's good. Jen, that is awesome!!! Keep it going girl...OP days are the best. |

I love scrapbooking just don't have time anymore and really miss it so I am jealous that you are doing a crop. CONGRATS on 18 days OP! Quote:
|
jillybean you made me laugh - it is great to read and write here on our blue team site
not much moving here - I am going over all measurements today in hopes of inch loss since the needle doesn't waver on my scale. hope all have a fine day linda |
Hello everyone! My pee is back to normal, and I am buying a cheap timer to remind me to drink my water. How sad is that?
I was up this week, but not surprised. I did not get to run while camping, and hiking with Meara is not really hiking. It is more like a super long dawdle, uphill. We have a good weekend planned. A friend of ours lives out in the country, surrounded by corn fields and holds a CornFest every year. Lots of fun for the kids. They have flamingo races, which are hilarious. On Sunday, there is an RC Air show, and I think we will go to that. Or maybe just Chris and Will. Meara and I neither one care about RC planes and copters. OK, I need to get the oil changed in the truck and hop to the bank. Friday always makes me happy, but PAYDAY Friday is the best! |
Pinto - Have fun tonight! It sounds like it'll be a great time.
Jaime - The hike sounds like fun! Hopefully you and DH will have patched things up by then so you can both enjoy it together. Hopefulpinkangel - I'm so very jealous of the crop you're going to! :) Running has totally cut into my energy/time for scrapbooking these past few months but the idea of scrapping for 9 hours seriously has me salivating here! Josephine My plans for the weekend include taking DH out on a date tonight (I think I'll take him to the batting cage to help relieve stress from all the stupid stuff at work), helping a friend move tomorrow, and running my second 18K on Sunday. And sleeping. I really need to incorporate more sleep into my life! And for me...I'm in Onederland!! I finally realized a couple of days ago that I was scared of crossing that threshold since it's been so long and I was making dumb food choices to keep the scale from moving. So I was smarter yesterday and now I'm 199. I'm giddy. :D Last night I did my hill training and I kicked some serious butt. I'd only ramped myself up to do 7 reps last night but my running buddy and I pushed on and did 10! The total distance ended up being 9.9K and I burned 919 calories. I think I know where I lost that pound! I took care to do lots of cooldown and stretching and then an ice bath once the kids were in bed. My legs were still achy throughout the night but I'm not limping today at all. I'm taking a day off from running and I'll do some abs yoga instead. Off I go to change my ticker! :carrot: |
Congratulations on ONEderland, Kim!!!!
So exciting!!!!!! :congrat: |
KIM - CONGRATS ON ONEDERLAND ... I'm so jealous, I always eems to be a couple pounds behind you. I am hoping for 199.8 by Wednesday's WI for me. I really want to see that "1" at the front for a change.:D
|
Hiya, Bluesers! TGIF!
Jennifer - Congrats on 17 days OP! :carrot: Amy - It's so good to hear from you. We were worried. Around here, when someone quits posting it usually means they are struggling. We don't want to lose you. Kim - Congrats on Onederland!:woohoo: Well, I'm with Jennifer at 17 days OP. However, my scales still aren't very impressed with my committment. I don't believe I've ever eaten this healthy in my life....lots of fresh veggies and fruit, whole grains, lean meats, healthy fats in moderation......no refined sugars...no sneaky milk chocolate candy bars or Chikfil-A coffee caramel milkshakes and waffle fries. However, the scales haven't moved for the last 12 days. Winging the calorie counts is obviously not working very well for me. I feel hunger when it's time to eat, but I really don't know how many calories I'm consuming. Today, I'm back to calorie counting every single bite. It is very possible that I'm overeating on the healthy stuff.:dizzy: Hope everyone has a great on-plan day! :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3: GO BLUE! :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3: |
Rhonda - Isn't it Anna's signature that says "Eating the best food in the worst portions." This is my Dad. Everytime you say something about what he is eating, you get from him that it is a good food, and the next words out of my mouth are in the right portion size. I applaud you though for the fabulous improvement in your eating habits. I still have too many processed things in my diet. Something for me to work on, huh!
|
Congrats, Kim!!!! It must feel wonderful!!
I agree, Friday's are wonderful, and payday Fridays are even better. It's not one today though! Rhonda - I know how you feel. I've logged my food diligently each day this week and not lost a dang oz! I have been TERRIBLE with exercise for 3 weeks now with all my traveling and working, so this doesn't really shock me. Life is back to normal starting tomorrow. I really do not know how mothers working full time outside the home manage it all. I couldn't do it regularly. This will make payday next pay period very nice though. But not worth it, IMO. My lack of exercise makes my back hurt also. I am ashamed at how I've not been able to fit exercise in. I'm so hitting the gym for 2 hours in the morning!!! Cannot wait. |
I totally just turned down a chocolate cupcake that was wandering around the office. No thank you, Mr. Cupcake, for I had two delicious organic dates after lunch and have satisfied my sweet tooth. Besides, who knows WHAT in the heck is in you. And ... someone could have sneezed on you earlier. Ew.
:D |
Jaime: I love that you're addressing the cupcake. Totally cracking me up!
|
Friday seems to be a big pizza night for many families. It is here. So here is my pizza dough recipe:
1 1/2 c unbleached white flour 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup hot, but not boiling water 1 packet or 2 1/4 tsp yeast 1/2 tsp salt half pinch of sugar 2 tbsp oil mix it all in a bowl, minus 1/2 the oil. knead for five minutes. roll into ball and cover with rest of oil. wet and wring a dishtowel. cover and let rise in warm place (in the winter, I set my oven to 200 and sit it on the vent burner). this all can be done in the bread machine in about 3 minutes. changes that I make: for 1/4 c white flour, sub 1/4 c wheat bran or almond meal; for 1/4 c ww flour, substitute 1/4 c ground flax seed; add garlic powder, oregano and whatever makes me happy that day to any commercial sauce: steam some veggies; everything works better than broccoli-nothing works better than the squash family, though avocado is not bad. put in blender. add to sauce. |
Im leaving to go camping in a couple hours. I'll be gone for a week. See ya when I get back, have a great week!
|
Kelly - what's the status on the elliptical? I am always SO impressed with your little 5k guys - You go girl!
Rhonda - very inspired by all your working out and eating change, I need to jump on my game again. Let me ask you, What made you jump back OP? Momof4Girls - have an AWESOME TIME camping. I used to love going with my family as a kid. Jamie - I hate office food, they get me about once a week still. I have got MUCH BETTER. Nori - I am back on track today too! We can do it! Anna - Pizza sounds AWESOME, I love squash stuff! Kim - WOW CONGRATS ON ONDERLAND!http://dl5.glitter-graphics.net/pub/...jh6hfx5lpo.gif Amy - Good to see you around! I love you getting drunk, I can only imagine! Me - Weight is up a little less than 2 lbs, I have no more freebies left, so I will have to post a gain this week, I think that will be my first one this round, so hopefully no one hates me. I am going back on plan today, not really because I feel like it, but more because I have to. I don't need all sorts of lbs creeping back up on me. |
