I am losing inches but not pounds - but want some pounds off please - one week to go to finally contribute something here -

hope all have a great weekend

Mrs Snark 08-02-2008 10:48 AM

Jill -- I'm so glad to hear your dad's surgery went well, what an amazing thing to have even survived! I like that you guys get to keep the stone as a souvenir. I think you need to make your dad a t-shirt that says "I survived the great gall stone of '08"!!! Sending positive vibes for his continued speedy recovery!

Vix -- Congratulations on the brand new virgin number, WHOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer3: :cheer3:

Shay 08-02-2008 12:30 PM

A lot to catch up on and I think I had only not posted in a little over a week. Still doing okay. Actually eating less which is suprising to me. I used to always eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day and now I'm down to about 3 meals. That's fine because as long as I'm not hungry I am good to go. Got back on the exercise wagon for the 50th time. The ipod has definitely been helpful. I've actually been quite obsessed with it. Who knew, a binger with obsessive traits? I have over 400 songs on it and two different podcasts that I am subscribing to. I am at 130 days binge free as of yesterday. The way I am eating works well for me and I hate to mess with it because of the fear of bingeing so I know I just need to ramp it up when it comes to exercise. Started my 10K (thanks to Rhonda) training program yet again this week. Right now that's enough for me. In September I will add more.

Kelly & Kim--Congrats on onederland!

Doragone, Rhonda, & Amy--Congrats on the new sizes!

Jill & Nori--Your families are in my thoughts.

Regarding inspirational folks--Everyone on 3FC is inspirational to me. We have all decided it is time to take care of us and find the support that we need to get there.

Next challenge--I heard Julz (on her blog and from one of her team members) decided not to be the leader for the black team for the next one so I wonder how that will work out?

Nori71 08-02-2008 01:34 PM

I forgot to weigh in this morning before I ate and exercised - but I feel smaller and "think" I broke into the 230's. Will be oh so good today and weigh in tomorrow. I forgot to fast yesterday morning for my blood work - so I seem to be having a problem remembering things in the morning!

Jill - I'm os glad your Dad is rocovering as well as expected. What an ordeal!

I'm happy to report that even with all the family stress recently (starting about 1 month ago with my Mom's heart attack and now with Lucas...) I've been able to avoid my old habits of binge eating to cope with stress. That makes me happy!

Day 3 of chemo and steriods for L and he's doing good. He's such a happy baby. They did tell Amy that they will be inpatient at the hospital for another month. At first they had told her she could probably go home Tuesday and come up 3x/wk for chemo. But I understand. It'd be awful to lose him to a simple infection at this point. He did need anther blood transfusion yesterday. Numbers dropped so fast from his last transfusion last Thursday.

Well, I have a busy day planned and I think the weather is going to cooperate!

mj5 08-02-2008 03:03 PM

Hi everyone! I have my class reunion later tonight and I am nervous/excited about it. It will be great to see people and catch up. I was hoping to be in better shape by now, but I am happy w/ my progress, so no regrets there. I have a great outfit and as long as my hair will cooperate (although w/ this humidity, that is doubtful!), I am going to look GOOD!

Doragone 08-03-2008 12:30 AM

Hi Bluesers,

Congratulations, whoo-hoo, yay for Vix - a virgin 160# !!!! Great work!:carrot:

Jill - glad your father is doing as well as can be expected, I know this is a "weight" off your mind. Hmmm, will that help with WI? Yes, you got the Sybil reference right, clever one.;)

MJ - hope you have a great time at your reunion. That is such a hard thing to do, go see old classmates, but like you said, you're looking and feeling so much better now. Hope it was a blast.:D

Nori - great NSV, not turning to food for comfort. That's a biggie. Continued prayers for Lucas. Amazing how children can be happy through so much.

Hey you elliptical junkies, I did a full 30 minutes on mine today!!! That was with no arms though, but it's a start. Plus I worked pretty hard in the yard today, so I'm hoping the scales will smile this week. A maintain is okay too.:goodscale

Working Monday (home visits) Tuesday (charting and billing) going to the county fair Wednesday - the Doobie Brothers are playing and its included with fair admission. Going with my son, girlfriend, her baby and Jessie. Thursday, DH and Sybil, er Doragone are going camping for 5 days at the coast. Don't think they have wifi, but if they do, I'll keep in touch. Otherwise, you may not hear from me until about the 12th. Will we be done by then? And when do we sign up again?:?::?:

Hope to come back to big losses, yours and mine. Stay OP, drink water, exercise and be happy and proud you are taking such good care of yourselves.:cp:

Dora

vixjean 08-03-2008 01:06 AM

Hahaha, Dora, my mom used to always call me sybil. Mainly because I'm a Gemini, she said I always got bad when the moon is full.

KimProbable 08-03-2008 01:15 AM

Just a really quickie post from me before I go to bed. If anyone wants to send me some good running vibes around 9-12 tomorrow, I'm going to be running my half-marathon route with my clinic group. I'm trying very hard not to be intimidated and to remember that it's only 3K more than I've done for the past two weeks. Gah. 21K. Sometimes I question my sanity.

I'll let you know how I do!!

mj5 08-03-2008 08:45 AM

Good Morning!

Dora--It was fun. I wasn't going to go, but one of my friends talked me into it...I'm so glad she did! 30 mins on the elliptical! That's awesome!

Kim--You can do it!!! Let us know how it went!

The reunion was a lot of fun! I was a little surprised, actually. Not sure why, but I was. One girl totally didn't recognize me (although I really don't look that different). Once she realized who I was, she kept telling me how fantastic I look--my hair, that I have been working out, etc--nice ego boost! One funny thing happened....two of my former classmates live right down the road from me. They kept telling everyone how they see me outside all the time w/ the dogs...no big deal, right? No, except I take the dogs outside in my pj's all the time...so who knows what they have seen me outside in! Oops!

And to top it off...I am down another pound. I am not sure exactly how, I have been really slacking w/ exercise since being on vacation. That will all change tomorrow--gym bag is already packed and mp3 player is fully charged!!

Have a great on plan day!

vixjean 08-03-2008 09:41 AM

Hi all, I had another good weigh in 159.9, how awesome is that? I totally believe I can lose that .9 this week. I posted it for the week. Hope we kick some butt this time around!

I cannot take credit for the grease. DH does all that. Congrats on the weigh-in BTW.

Great job, Vix!

Kim, I injured myself today, so I definitely question your sanity. But more power to you for pushing farther every week. I am really happy with 3.2 miles for maint and the occasional 4 when I get an urge.

My other news is that Petey died, and I am sad. We have no idea what caused it, but best guess is either heart attack or some sort of kidney issue. He barely drank anything Friday, but did not seem any different. I checked him before I went to bed at 12:30, and he was OK. We found him yesterday morning. He drove me nuts, but he was so freakishly soft. He used to lay on my tummy and watch Biggest Loser with me. For the most part, I will not miss having a rabbit, but I will miss my little bunny.

Wait, I have other news too. We are getting rid of our dish. We are now a Netflix only family. Yea.

amouse 08-03-2008 06:53 PM

i broke into the 250's this morning.. im on a roll atm.. its funny becuase im doing less exercise then i was before and now im losing??? weight loss is a funny thing.. lol .. i have to put in my exercise for the week over on the booty page to figure out how much i did.. i just know its less though.. and this week i lost 3.4 pounds.. :) cant be unhappy with that :)

KimProbable 08-03-2008 07:14 PM

Amy - WTG!!!! :carrot:

Anna - Yay for Netflix! Boo for the running injury. Are you ok? And  for Petey.

Vix - Congrats on the excellent weigh-in!

And for me...I had a fantastic 21K run today. My goal for this race has been to come in at under 2:30 (my best time 6 years and 40 lbs ago was 1:45) and today with the ultra-relaxed pace we ran at we came in at 2:26! I'm so totally going to kick my goal's butt on race day. I'd do the world's biggest happy dance if I beat my old official race time of 2:14 but that might be pushing it a bit so we'll see how things go.

After I came home and showered, we headed out to McD's (bad, I know but it was a quick and easy solution) and then shopping at Costco. I'm seriously exhausted now. DH is making coffee then I'm going to have a nap!

Mrs Snark 08-04-2008 06:52 AM

Amy -- Congratulations on breaking through another barrier! Whoo hoo!

Kim -- that sounds like it was an AWESOME run! I told you you were going to be faster than you thought, all that consistent training is paying OFF!

Anna -- Awww, RIP Petey, he sounded like such a cutie pie to me even if he did drive you nutters sometimes.

MJ -- Sounds like you had a great reunion, I bet you looked awesome!

Dora -- It sounds like you have a busy week planned! Have a great time camping this coming weekend!

Vix -- Way to go on dropping even further, w00t!!!!!!!!! You are in the groove!

I've just posted my final weigh-in of the challenge, I can't believe it all went by so fast! It seemed like it was going to last forever and yet flew by in a blink!

Congrats on all your weight loss, now you just have to wait for the throwdown with the other 2 teams biggest losers, but I am proud to say that the Blue team has the biggest loser of them all ... I know we do!

Nori & Jill - sending  to you and your families. I hope you all breath easier soon.

jillybean720 08-04-2008 08:06 AM

Well, I guess stress and travelling does well by me--I am down a pound this morning from last week. I'm not going to post it yet, though--see if I can get a lower number for this LAST weigh-in! I don't mind waiting till the last minute for this final week since I won't have next week to include anything I lose later this week!

My dad is doing okay. His pain is increasing, but that's because he's getting up and walking around instead of just laying in bed. His fever did not return at all yesterday, so that was good.

I think the hardest part for me, really, is just seeing him laying there, feeling so helpless. I am a 100% daddy's girl, and it kills me to see him in that hospital bed. I know he's recovering well and doing just fine, but I still tear up about it at times. He's only 55, though, so he's got lots of good years left in him after this!

vixjean 08-04-2008 08:23 AM

Jill- thanks for the update. I am really glad to hear that dad is okay. I'm thinking of you and sending all sorts of good vibes your way!

Mrs Snark 08-04-2008 08:36 AM

Jill -- I'm glad he is doing so well! I hope he won't have to be in the hospital for too much longer, I'm sure everyone would rather he be at home! Sending more positive vibes to his healing will continue uninterrupted, already up and around sounds GREAT!

Hopefulpinkangel 08-04-2008 08:45 AM

Jill-Thanks for the update  Keeping you guys in my prayers!

Josephine-Way to go! If you are not the biggest loser of the whole competition I will be shocked!

I'm sad that today was my last weigh-in of the competition. I'm not ready for it to be over yet. :(

onthetee 08-04-2008 09:20 AM

Jill--I know how hard it is. I watched my dad after his bypass. I am glad he is up and around and doing better.

Yay, Amy.

It is upper hamstring, not sciatic, which is good. Ice and ibuprofen.

GirlyGirlSebas 08-04-2008 10:43 AM

Good morning, Bluesers! Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.

I must confess. I did go off-plan yesterday. I'm not really sure why, but I'm right back on-plan today. As long as I keep going, I'm going to win this battle eventually.

MJ - So glad you had fun at the reunion. I'm sure you looked beautiful.
Amy - Congrats on the 250's!
Kim - Congrats on your 21K!
Jill - So glad you Dad made it through the surgery and is on the mend.
Anna - hope your hamstring heals quickly.

I haven't been on the treadmill since Thursday. I really need to get more consistent with the exercise. Hubby and I have decided to join a gym for the weights and for some classes for me. Hopefully, this will make my body shape start to change quicker.

Hope everyone has a great on-plan day!

:cheer3::cheer3::cheer3: GO BLUE! :cheer3::cheer3::cheer3:

mj5 08-04-2008 12:40 PM

First day back to work...so far it hasn't been too bad...still trying to find the top of my desk, but I'll get there!

Kim--Great job on your run!

Jill--So glad to hear your dad is getting up and around!

Rhonda--Great job getting right back on plan today! I think it's great that you and dh are joining a gym.

Hi to everyone else! Have a great on plan day.

tkglenn 08-04-2008 01:16 PM

Anna Im sorry for your loss and your injury i hope your hamstring ans heart heal soon :) .

Tawnya if you want to move that much and your hubby has already suggested it.. then what is stopping you?

Doragone 08-05-2008 01:57 AM

;)Hi my soon-to-be-former Just Beachy fellow competitors,

Like Jennifer, I'm not ready for this to be over:(. I am encouraged though that i have gained new skills and strengths over this time we had together.

Also, like Rhonda, I went off plan this week-end. It was if AF was here, I scarfed down mixed nuts, crackers and peanut butter on toast. All better now, and that was after 125 days op, so I feel confident I can fall back into good behavior. Today was great and exercise is on target. I do much better too, when I enter it all in on Fit Day.:book2: It really helps to see I'm on target to reach my goal weight by April 2009.

However, like Anna, I've injured something in my knee. I've looked it up and as best i can tell it's hamstring tendon inflammation and/or posterior cruciate ligament strain. The outside of my L knee is painful as well as the back of the knee. Sometimes i can't straighten it, but it affects my walking only minorly. I have been using a TENS unit on it and Capsaician cream with fair results. I think it must have been the squats with weights. I put some weights together that each were supposed to be 4.4lbs (2 to a dumbell bar) which I thought was about 10 lbs total. When I checked on the scale, they were actually 15 lbs!!! More elliptical and gentle walking for me I guess.

Yeah, thanks Kelly for your encouragement on the elliptical. That is huge for me. Someday I'll be like the real junkies and even use the arms!!! Here's hoping your parts get here soon. (The ones for your elliptical too, hee hee;))

Kim and Jo - you two are the most serious athletes I know. Kim, a 21K - WOW!!! And Jo - you just do, well, everything! You've inspired me to work out both day and night, if I can discipline myself. i like the changes I'm seeing in my body and I know its the exercise. Thanks to you both for your inspiration.:thanks:

Vix - Now you're talkin!!!! you're rockin' the game now - I know it feels so good.:carrot::cheer3:

MJ - Looks like being strong enough to face your fears (reunion) really paid off with all the compliments. The snowball effect is in force - lose weight, get compliments, encouraged to lose more weight, more compliments, etc. Good luck.:woohoo:

And Amy is on her way too, and all she had to do was quit trying so hard. I'm afraid to try that strategy, but hey, whatever floats your boat :beach:(and on the booty challenge, you've been to America and back a couple times I think!) Congratulations.

Tawny - you've got me interested in step, though for me, it would have to be at home (live too far out, hubby doesn't like me going to town "just" for that kinda stuff, etc.) But I think I'll look into it. Good luck on "storming" your way outa town.:stars:

I took a little side trip today while out working to a Cash 'N Carry in Eugene and bought the DaVinci sugar free flavors. They are awesome!!! No calories, no fat and taste delish! Going to try some in my shake tonight and in my cereal tomorrow. Here's a pic. (Also got a container for the nutritional yeast that should be here tomorrow)

http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...e7/misc019.jpg

I may not be back in time for my last weigh-in so I'll just call it 25# and be real happy with that. Here's hoping our team gets the rich reward we all deserve - shaplier bodies and winning the Just Beachy Biggest Loser Challenge!!!

Hope to see you all in chats somewhere soon.

Dora

dgramie 08-05-2008 09:41 AM

After having an awesome week last week im struggling today. Im hungry..had eggbeaters and toast for breakfast and im starving..i hate days like this!! I am on my 3rd bottle of water already. Maybe going for a walk will help curve the hungier pains... i truly dont understand my body!! lol
hope everyone has a great day
debi

tkglenn 08-05-2008 07:14 PM

amy-we just don't have the money to move and we have a house we're trying to sell but needs to be fixed first.

dora-yeah, i absolutely love step. May I ask, what are the flavors for? Can they be added to anything? Are they expensive? Will be working on my letters this week for DH. Thank you again from the both of us. Are you not signing up for the next TBL challenge?

We just got alot of rain and wind. Nothing happened here. Kind of boring. I even got to go grocery shopping. My kids were scared before going to bed last night.

We finally got our Wii. Woohoo!!!! I am so happy. Now to get WiiFit.

Doragone 08-05-2008 10:35 PM

Amarie - so sorry you're having this tug-of-war with your will and your body. Say, are you still coming to Eugene? We just spent the day there shopping - got a nice MP3 player, a video game, some special face cream and a few Costco items. Hope to see you in a town near me, soon.

Tawnya - the flavors go in anything, they're what they use to make flavored coffees. They were very reasonable -$3.88 each at Cash and Carry. So far I put Butter Rum in my morning Wu Yi tea and Dulce de Leche in my steel cut oats and both were really good. Oh yes, I'm in for the next challenge -which I guess is in September. And your very welcome for any help the letters provided. Good luck in your struggles with the government - but hang in there, it's worth it.

See ya next challenge.

Dora

AMY - YOU LOOK GREAT, thanks for posting your pics, you look so different. Your legs are teeny tiny and everything is so much smaller. You should post them in the mini goal section!

I can't remember if I congratulated you on your win last week (brain fart!) so...

:congrat: CONGRATULATIONS!!! WHOO HOO!!!!!! :congrat:

I'm sure it is water weight from yesterday, hang in there and be strict today and it will drop! :)

pintobean 08-06-2008 07:55 AM

:sunny: Morning Everyone :sunny:

This is the last week of the challenge. It's a little sad  for me as I know some of you won't be returning for the next challenge. I hope you guys still chime in from time to time to keep us motivated :) This challenge has been great for me cuz it has given me what I was unable to do myself - accountability and motivation. You guys have been such an inspiration. Yes, I slipped and fell few times (only human eh!) but I was able to jump back on track cuz of all of your support and seeing your dedication to achieving your goal. I will be returning for the next challenge and will kick it up a notch for myself :D

 to all of you on the team!!!
Especially Chelle for doing all the hardwork and keep track of all the records. (Well, also getting me hooked to Twilight  )

Mrs Snark 08-06-2008 07:58 AM

Amy! You look wonderful! How AWESOME is it that your pants are falling off of you? Whoo hoo!!!! You
are doing GREAT! :cheer3: :cheer3:

Dora -- I always love the idea of those syrups but can't bring myself to eat Splenda any more. :( I love how you've put them into little squirt bottles! Have you had the nutritional yeast before? I'll be interested to see if you like it. I really like the nutty, earthy flavor, but I have read that alot of people don't.

pintobean 08-06-2008 08:12 AM

Amy, I can't see the pics :( Damn work network...they block stupid ****. But I'm sure you look great :) Haven't seen you on plurk lately :(

dgramie, Congrats on being BL...and don't worry about the gain. It's probably a fluke. Good you're back OP.

Dora, I hope you're returning to for the next challenge. We cannot do without you :) And thanks for posting the syrup info...I'm definitely interested in buying couple SF ones. Butter rum sounds yum!!!

Tawyna, glad you got Wii...it's wonderful. Keep trying to call the stores regularly as they get shipments every so often for wii fit.

Anna, How are you feeling now? I hope you're feeling better

Rhonda, we all slip at one point or the other and lot of times there's no reason. The fact that you're back OP is what matters. Keep moving forward girl...you can do it...Just 2 words for you - Energizer Bunny ;) Did you sign up for the gym or did you say you're going to do it this Friday? Brain freeze here :(

Jill, How's your dad doing now?

Alright Ladies! I have posted my final WI this morning with a slight drop, which is normal for this is my TOM.

I finished up with a total of 20.8 lbs lost, which is 9.5% lost for the challange, not quite up to Josephine's quarter of her body weight, but I am proud of it none the less. I missed only 1 goal this challenge, which was to get to 195, but I made the rest.

I look forward to seeing you all in the next challenge, and I look forward to hopefully getting even closer to my final goal. I plan on being at or below 195 to start the next challenge, and hope to drop another 12-15 lbs during the challenge. Just have to keep inching closer to that goal (which would be much easier if the parts for my elliptical would ever come in).

Good Morning! Today I am wearing a pair of capris that I could get up over my hips at the beginning of summer!

tk--Glad to hear you didn't get blown away.

Amy--You look fantastic! Thanks for sharing the pics!!!! LOL! It's funny you say that....the other night, dh was outside w/ me and said that I do look a lot different outside in my pj's than I did at the reunion....we both laughed. Oh well, I'm out there to take the dogs out, not to impress the neighbors!

Dora--Ouch! Hope your knee is better! Thanks. Yea, I am really glad I went to the reunion. I will plan on going to the next one, believe it or not!

debi--I hate 'hungry' days! Hope the walk helped.

Kelly--Great job!

Tonight I am going to the gym right after work. It is really hot here today, so I may just do some cardio, but I AM going!

How was your week everyone? Im home from camping and did not have a very good eating week. I had healthy snacks planned but in the end ate chips and chocolate like everyone else. It even took me a few days to get back on track which was starting to scare me because I do NOT want to go back to what I was. Anyway, I feel a little more in control now.

I hadn't been to the gym in about 2 weeks and when I went yesterday and Monday I was pretty discouraged because I can NOT do what I was able to do before. I am amazed at how fast our bodies go out of shape. I almost feel like I am starting over again. UGH!

I start my new job tomorrow (the training) and I am getting nervous but excited. I am looking forward to having a few hours away from the kids LOL. School can not come fast enough!

Anyway, I dont have time to read all the threads from the past week and a half so I will just jump in here. I hope you all have had a great week.
