He's said that I can do whatever I want as it's my body, but he doesn't like them. Bleh. I think I'm going to work on changing his mind and designing something really cool so he approves :)

What do you want to get???? :)

I'll probably get something small, I draw this little kitty >^..^< as my siggy when I write notes or text people so I might get that or something that relates to my success of losing weight. But when I hit my final goal of reaching 150, I'll be getting a tiger on the side of my right thigh, it'll be a continuation of the tattoo I have on my right calf. :)

One of our returning red teammates has over 100 days on plan, and someone has over a year! So I'm setting my first short term goal as 10 days on plan. Anyone else wanna join in with that?

Me! I have a little calendar and some stickers so everyday I'm OP I'm putting a sticker on that day. I did it with exercise, it's an awesome feeling to see all the stickers. :high:

1. What would you like us to call you?

Heather

2. What eating plan are you using?

Nothing specific, but higher protein than what I'd normally crave, and less sugar.

3. What is your favorite way to exercise?

Walking with my kids - which actually entails pushing the 40lb five year old and 28lb two year old in the double stroller while wearing the 25lb one year old on my front or back!

4. What is one area of weightloss that you struggle with?

I have to say two. One diet, one exercise. For diet, late night eating. I get so busy during the day, I don't take time to eat enough, then I'm ravenous after the kids go to bed and I over-indulge.

For exercise, finding TIME to do it. Making time for myself. I'm actually considering a gym membership in the fall even though money is already tight, b/c I really need to make myself a priority.

5. What is one area of weightloss that you excel at?

I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.... I keep at it.

6. What is your short term goal?

1 - I have prediabetes, and I'd like to get my fasting blood sugar under 100
2 - To fit into a certain black dress

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal?

Mmm... wearing it out someplace nice
maybe? :)

8. Best weight loss tip?

Protein with breakfast!

9. Bob or Jillian?

I need both. Some days I need someone to kick my butt, other days I need a hug!

10. Tell us a little about yourself!

I'm a SAHM, homeschooling my oldest (of three), DH is in grad school and will be done in one year. Done having babies, ready to get rid of all the baby-weight!

Yea! Tattoo girls :)

I have a small butterfly on my right shoulder blade and the symbol for Capricorn on my left wrist. When I reach my goal weight I'm going to get a sorta pin-up girl type design, just not sure where yet.

mothermavis 04-28-2008 08:24 AM

I have Harley Davidson wings on my left shoulder and am thinking of a Christmas type wreath around my belly button when it's flat, maybe with a BB ring. :o

Good morning everyone :D

Hope everyone is doing better than me today, I'm still dying with the flu, so its not pretty here  I think I actually came down with it again, since it felt like it was going away there before the weekend, but its back with a force. Ugh.

Diva the nice thing about Tris is there are all kinds. The most popular short distance ones usually are halfmileswim/12-15milebike/3mile run. Those are called "Sprints" There are also "Super-Sprints" which tend to be half that distance if you just want to get your feet wet. One of the ones I'm doing in July is a Sprint. A womans only one run by Danskin. I know people who have walked the 3 miles of a sprint so really as long as you can swim and bike some... I really believe almost anyone can do a sprint with a few months training. You don't even need a fancy road bike or anything starting out.

The one I'm doing in Aug is a Olympic or International distance (like they do in the Olympics!) That one is going to be 1mileswim/26mileBike/6mile run. It's a bit of a stretch for me to do this one, but I'm just looking to finish, and I'm fairly confident I'll be able to do that by Aug. I currently can do all the distances for that just haven't done them all consecutively yet! :)

From there there is the 1/2 Ironman (Twice the Olympic) and the Iron man (Four times the Olympic) Those are a bit nutty. The Ironman has a Marathon at the END of it and thats AFTER swimming 2.5 miles and biking 100. Not sure I'd ever try that but if I like the ones I do this summer who knows I might try the 1/2 next summer.

I think you should totally try a sprint or super-sprint!!! Get on that bike girl! Go read the book "The Slow Fat Triathlete" by Jayne Williams. It's very inspiring she is the one who got me thinking I could do it. :)

Thanks so much for the info girlfriend! I think I may try the ones you mentioned. All I know is I want to be an athlete! What better way than this to become one, yanno? Ali (TBL) totally inspired me and she got so athletic and I wanna do the same.

K, I have a couple of pages yet to read, lol.

Good morning everyone!!!

Good morning, everyone!!!!!

I am sooooo thankful for this challenge. I've been stagnating for about two weeks. I did Karate the week before last, but last week.... nothing. I needed to get back on the wagon soooo badly and this challenge has done that for me... I hope!

So, this morning I went to the gym and I ran for 16 minutes, walked for 14 minutes for a total of 2.10 miles and 250 calories. I'm pleased with that. I started doing the Couch to 5K plan back at the beginning of the year and I was up to running 20 minutes straight (just over 2 miles), but I've slacked off and wanted to start slow, so I ran for five, walked for three, ran for seven, walked for three and ran for four minutes.... with warm up and cool down. Tomorrow I have Karate which is destructively hard.... and then I'll run again on Wednesday.

To me, it is key that I exercise. If I'm off plan food wise, but still exercising, I'm still in control and I find that whilst I might not lose, I don't gain. When I stop exercising as well, that's like the end of the world....

This is a fabulous idea! I'm going to start today!

Oh, something else. There is a site called "Walk, Jog, Run" where you can use Googlemaps to plan out routes. So, I started a route in Key West and every time I go to the gym, I edit my route :) My aim is to see how far I run total over the year..... and then just keep it going forever. I wonder how many years it's going to take me to run to Boston??? :)

Good Morning my fellow Red Teamates :comp:!

I thought it would be fun to see what foods you absolutely have to have in your house everyday. Foods that you would never even think of buying when you weren't eating healthy. It will be fun, and it will give everyone some ideas (I know I can use some ideas).

Okay for me I always have to have in my house

Pretzles (I like the Honey Wheat ones)
Whole Wheat Bread
Crystal Light
Tons of Water
Lettuce
Oatmeal
Tuna Fish

I've always kept healthy foods on hand but the problem was I kept junk also! So now it's just healthy foods. I have been using more veggies and fruits then ever. I'm making myself try one new fruit or vegetable a week (branching out a bit). Last weeks discovery was that after 27 years of nearly gagging at the thought of broccoli, I now really like it! This week is a white nectarine.
