I hope everyone is having a great weekend! It has been so beautiful here this weekend, a little windy, but I'll take it! Yesterday morning I met my friend at her gym, I did Week 4 Day 1 of C25k training, I ended up jogging/walking 2.25 miles in 30 minutes. Ended up working out for an hour yesterday at the gym. Around 11am, my son and I went to downtown Omaha and walked around a couple of the parks in the area, we ended up walking for over an hour! After we were done, my hubby met us at Spaghetti Works for lunch. I kept it healthy with the salad bar and shrimp skewers and steamed veggies with a half serving of spaghetti with pesto sauce on the side (i took half of this meal home for dinner last night). This morning I went for an hour swim and then did grocery shopping. This afternoon we may be going to a large play area, I may try climbing the rock wall (this will be my something new for the REDWINS if we do go). I am still feeling sore in my core from Thursday, tomorrow may be a rest day, we will see.

Hey Red! I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend! Mel, how is the hubby?

Well, I finally broke down and had the hip looked at. One week of non-exercise is ALL this girl can take. I'm telling ya, I get downright grumpy! Anyways, it's Hip Bursitis. I was told to take a few more rest days and given a script for some pain meds that I most likely WILL NOT have filled. I mean a couple of ibuprofens and the the boo-boo bag (iced) Melissa gave me works pretty dagum'ed good. Also, I rested an entire week! There is NO way in **** I am not hitting the GYM this week. Jess had (has) bursitis on his knee and worked right through it, and even has to work directly on his knees everyday and his is better so... It recommends weight reduction, and stretching exercises, well DAH! That's what I was trying to do when it happened! LOL!

I have gotten to where anymore, I stay OP much better when I hit the GYM to workout than I do when I am @ home to exercise. In fact, when I am @ home, I can find MANY excuses NOT to workout, yanno what I mean??? The scale has not moved at all, and it's frustrating. apparently, I have to exercise AND eat healthy to lose weight! Who'da thunk it? :dizzy:

SoulBliss 04-06-2008 04:15 PM

Diva, glad you got it checked out and are okay. I stay OP better when my exercise is where I need it to be too.

Here's something for everyone on mindfulness:

Open to awareness

"Mindfulness means moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness. It is cultivated by refining our capacity to pay attention, intentionally, in the present moment, and then sustaining that attention over time as best we can. In the process, we become more in touch with our life as it is unfolding."

-- Myla & Jon Kabat-Zinn

Why do we want to become more aware?

If we remain unaware, we:
- repeat the past,
- remain stuck in relationships,
- live superficial, literal and one dimensional lives,
- lack experiences of love and beauty, and
- have limited connection to others and the universe.

With awareness, we are fully involved with life. Awareness is sensing deeply and sensitively for what really is. To do this, we need to approach the present as totally new. When we can be open and attentive in each moment, we begin to free ourselves from the conditioning of the past and the suffering that it so often brings.

"If moment by moment you can keep your mind clear then nothing will confuse you."

-- Sheng Yen

Just wanted to pop in real quick while I had a moment to say Hey! Hope everyone is doing well and having a good weekend. Talk to you tomorrow!

CountingDown 04-06-2008 08:55 PM

Just a quick fly-in to say hello. We are back from TN. We did lots of hiking and walking, even though we saw quite a bit of rain. Stayed OP, but I think all of the restaurant food as affected the scale. No loss, but no gain either this week :)
Thus, I finish the challenge with 16 lbs. lost. I'm already looking forward to the next BL challenge :D

I am so excited and I just wanted to post that today was my 100th day perfectly On Program. I am sooo happy to have reached this goal. I have lost 34lbs in my first 100 days and I can't wait to see what my next 100 days OP will bring me.

I hope everybody had a great weekend. My weekend was full and busy as usual. I can't wait to go back to work tomorrow so I can rest. LOL

Melissa73- what an inspiration you are!!!! bravo! :cp:

Counting, I always think of it as being great if I come back from a vacation without a gain. Eating is always a little off because your eating is off, not normally eating the same stuff you would at home or at the same time. Congrats on the 16 pounds lost during this challenge!! :bravo:

Melissa, you are doing awesome! Congrats on 100 days POP! That is quite an accomplishment! As well, losing 34 pounds in those 100 days is fantastic!! Keep up the great work!!

Hey all - just stopping in to say "hello." This week is going to be tough for me - getting back to the "normal" every day life of work, gym, etc. (I was on Spring Break). The kids are nuts, too! I came to the boards to get encouraged. This website has been amazing for me!

ksk571 04-07-2008 09:44 AM

So for the final weigh-in on this challenge I weighed in at 168.5. This is a milestone for me for several reasons:
  1. I am now in the 160's. :cb:
  2. I have gone from Obese to Overweight on the BMI (however accurate that may or may not be). :woohoo:
  3. I have lost 10.5 pounds on this challenge. :cheer2:
  4. I have broken though whatever barrier I have been on the past 6 weeks of this challenge (mostly mental I think). :dancer:
  5. This is the lowest I've weighed in 4-5 years. :cheer:

Thanks so much for all of the support I've received here. You gals are the best!

When I get home tonight I plan on posting my before and current pics and measurements.

Dont forget that your final weigh in is due today!! Good Luck Red team I hope you have all met your challenge goals!! And I'm really looking forward to having our amazing team again for next challenge! Hopefully my life will get back to normal by then and I can focus and contribute more.

Have a wonderful Monday!

Good morning ladies!!! Well the ex is finally gone, and the kids went back to school. Yay! :) things can start to get back to normal now. We bought a minivan this weekend so DH can drive himself to his classes and I don't have to get little man up so early. Hoping that I can use that time and get some exercise in. Tomorrow will be the 1st day, hoping I do it! I acquired another little one to watch during the day. I must be a glutten for punishment. lol So need to get her into the routine and get school work in a routine and things will be great here. Can't believe this challenge is over already! I did horrible! I haven't posted my final weight yet, will do that in a minute. I am very excited for the next challenge, and I am going to kick some bootie this time around!!! Really hope to get the red team again, cause you guys are so awesome!!! Ok, need to get moving, check back later!

Idealmuse 04-07-2008 12:03 PM

Congrats Melissa! 100days is awesome! (Apparently it's day 333 for me)

Well I'm not down anymore then I was mid-week, but that's OK I'll take it because it means I get to change my ticker to the 100 mark! Woo Hoo! I was getting on the scale this morning and my hands on my waist... and I thought holy crap not only do I HAVE a waist, but it feels pretty firm under there.

Today is day one week one of official 20 week training program for my Olympic Triathlon in August. Eeep!

It's been a great challenge guys! I had fun hope you did too!

Diva 04-07-2008 12:15 PM

Good afternoon Red! I can't believe the challenge is over. :( I need to find me a place where I can weigh in still in between to keep myself accountable.

Well, as you all know, I couldn't take it any longer, so I headed out to the GYM today! I feel excellent, even though the hip is tender (Hip Bursitis)....I'm about to ice it. I'm telling ya, I get downright GRUMPY when I can't exercise.

Anywho, I did:
1 hour on the Treadmill
15 minutes weights (Chest & legs)
15 Yoga stretching.

The doc wrote me a script for Main meds but whatever, I am not even getting them pain meds filled. I don't like how they make me feel. If and when I get pain and soreness, I'll just pop some ibuprofen or Aleve and ice it. I can't allow this to slow me down. I wanna drop 10 more by May 10th (Dollywood company pic-nic)!!!
