Cassie, try the FAQ thread. I was kind of confused about the same thing, but since my weigh-in day is Monday, I'm going to do it then and post that night. If you're a Tuesday girl, you'll prob use today's, but you can check with the ladies over at the FAQ to answer your question. Where do you go to school and what's your major? I hope you have some fun classes this semester! I just graduated from Cornell last year, and the college lifestyle makes it SO difficult to lose weight! Unfortunately, as a recent graduate it doesn't seem to get any easier. My days are now completely packed with work, and my friends still want to go out and drink and eat junk at night, so I think it's almost harder. More and more I'm discovering that in order to get in shape, you REALLY have to make it a priority. My friends/coworkers all tease me (good-naturedly) about my healthy cooking/workouts, but it's all worth it when they then come to me asking for tips because they see I'm losing and they want to learn how. Unfortunately, most of them don't really like my recommendations ("no, you really can't just get anything you want from Chinese takeout, and you probably shouldn't drink 10 beers in a night either"). I'm so glad I have a community like this where we're all in it together to make the right choices!

Thanks for your response, I'll head over to the FAQ question this evening and put in my question. I wasn't sure since it was the first week.:p
I am actually going to school online through a local community college right now, and then once I get my associates I'll transfer to Wichita State University. I should have gotten my degree long ago, but this is my first year back, so I'm a bit behind, lol. I'm going for a degree in Criminal Justice, and so far, so good! I'm working with a 4.0, and for the most part my classes have been great. I am a stay at home mom, so I don't have much to worry about in the way of a social life and food...hehehe...but it IS hard for me not to sit and snack while I am at the computer writing research papers or taking quizzes! It's so easy to eat without thinking, and I've really had to change that and be aware of every single thing that I put into my mouth.

She wants me at 23% to 25%. I am around 20 to 21% most of the time. Driving me crazy. I just don't eat that much stuff with fat in it.

Shy~ what about nuts and do you like avacados? Those might bump up your fat, and they're good fats.

Question of the Day:
If your fairy god mother visited you tonight and told you that she could instantly transform you into your dream body composition but as a result you could NEVER eat your favorite food again if you did it would turn you back to your composition right now
and you would lose all your hair, Would you do it? And what is your favorite food?

Sure! I'd get something pretty tattooed on my head. My favorite food is anything Mexican.

*I'm such a goof, I totally misread the question!! So I'm changing my answer to No, I wouldn't have my fairy godmama give me back my body before kids and marriage. lol. I'll do it myself. :)

Cathy and Rennie - do either of you ladies know any good low-cal brands of yogurt, but ones that AREN'T filled with artificial sweeteners? Plain is fine, because I can always mix fruit in, but I haven't found anything really low enough to make it easy to incorporate into my calorie counting plan. Especially since I have a hard time eating just one serving of yogurt - I find that it's not very filling.

I eat the Dannon Light. There's a greek yogurt I saw at the store that I was thinking about trying, it's called Fage. Also have you looked to see if there's organic yogurt? I wouldn't think those would be filled with artificial sweetners.

Oh yeah, I'd take it in a second. No more pizza for me. EVER.

Cassie, I am the worst at needing to snack while I study/work/read/watch TV/etc! For the at-home things, I try to work out while I'm doing them, which takes away my need to snack (I definitely don't feel like I'm eating while working out, though it would be interesting from an in/out perspective... see if I could make my feet keep up with my mouth!). At work, I just try to stay really really busy, which makes me forget my munchies :)

Cathy, Dannon Light has sucralose. I've tried Fage (both the 0% and 2% varieties) and it was good, but still not very low cal (130ish cals for a 6 oz serving). My problem is I can eat yogurt SO quickly, and I love pairing it with granola, which is also high in cals. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll do much better than the Fage, but I will certainly keep looking!

Normally I would have dumped my favorite food without hesitation because I wanted to be "normal" THAT bad... but you know what? I'm happy to say there is a shift in my thinking these days and since I KNOW I can do it on my own I guess I'd have to say no, because it's only a matter of time once I get there. Now on the other hand if I could trade away all my loose skin when I'm done? I'd definately be tempted. :)

Idealmuse 01-15-2008 06:04 PM

Scenestealer - I think I'm going to have to try that soup on your blog. We make butternut squash and turkey chili which is good, but it would be nice to have a different type of butternut soup!

CountingDown 01-15-2008 06:09 PM

Laura, I like "Sizzlin' Salsa", "Dancing off the Inches: Fat Burning Jam", "Crunch Fat Burning Dance Party", and "Prevention Dance Yourself Thin".

I agree with you on the Yogurt - Light 'n Fit if you don't mind Splenda, otherwise the Fage.

Question of the day: Funny - if you had asked me 7 months ago, you would have said yes - in a heartbeat. It would be worth giving up pasta. But now, 7 months later - nah - I think the journey has been good for me. I wouldn't want to have missed out on 3FC, learning to like exercise, getting back to healthier eating, etc.

Cassie - good to be on the same team with you again! I believe that you are to post today's weight before next monday. You will then post next Tuesday's weight for next week.

Nicoya - we are together again for BL :carrot: Fantastic job with the workout! That is awesome!!!!

Jen - hope you are on the mend!

Karen - I love Walk and Kick too! It isn't to hard and with Leslie leading - it is fun! Mary Kay sure looks like she has taken some classes in kickboxing though - she does an awesome job in the video :)

I gotta run - time to make supper - I will try to catch up more later.

Hello to everyone else - we have a wonderful team!
I'm glad that everyone is so excited about the challenge!
Go RED!

jlbake 01-15-2008 06:54 PM

Hey Red Team! It's great to hear how well everyone is doing.

Thanks for all the well wishes! I'm still sick in bed, but I'm on antibiotics now, so hopefully I'll be better quickly. I've been watching snatches of Biggest Loser Australia on youtube.com while I've been down.

I'm not sure if I'll get any exercise in today since I'm feeling worse than yesterday, but my calories are good.

No, I wouldn't do it. I would rather transform my body on my own. Going through the hard work, not only transforms us physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually as well. I don't want a quick fix; I want the total transformation! And my favorite food is Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie Ice Cream.

I hope everyone has a great day and enjoys TBL tonight. I'll check in with you all tomorrow.

Hun.e.B 01-15-2008 07:27 PM

Okay...long day, I'm going to attempt to get caught up on personals!

Laura...I think everyone should question their goals! Besides who cares if they think you are crazy LOL! You might want to compare the fat free yogurt with the full fat yogurts and see if there is a difference. For them to make it fat free they have to add other stuff and that adds calories. I'm not sure it can go much lower than 90 calories a serving thats a really low cal food as it is.

Donna...welcome!! I'm so glad you are jumping in with the group!! Not to worry you'll be excelling in no time!! We can do this!

Tina....ooooh a scary movie!!! You are brave! Let us know how it is!

utahgirl...EXCELLENT answer to todays question!!

Optimist...broccoli is your all time fave food! You are amazing!! I wish I could say mine was so healthy but I'm on board with that chinese food one! LOL!

Mom2scott....Welcome!! Jump in where you can!!

Cassie...I can sympathize with the busy class schedule, my last semester was **** on earth, hopefully this one will be better! Way to go on that loss!!! You are doing GREAT!! The weighin for Week 1 is due next monday, its up to you which weight you want to post. You can do the one from today or you can wait and weigh in on Monday again and use that weight.

Andi...great attitude! Its great to see that you KNOW you can do this and not have to give up something you love!!

Nicoya...see we pass the inspiration, so you've inspired me to get up off my butt!

Kari...wooohoo!!! way to go with those points girl!! And I love your answer to the question!!! Such good strong people we have on the red team, we are gonna kick some butt!!

Karen....aww I'm sorry you got the wrong dvd..what a let down! LOL @ the broccoli comment!! Thats funny!

Whew...okay turning the page!

1. What do you prefer we call you? Cat

2. What weightloss plan are you using? I am doing a sort of trial and error calorie counting and focusing on the right foods to eat before and after I train.

3. What is your favorite exercise? I lvoe swimming but there is no child care at the pool, so running has become my new favorite cardio and I also work with a personal trainer 4 days a week and take a few cardio classes.

4. What is one area that you struggle? I cannot seem to get into the right rythym with my eating and exercise. I am either eating too much or not enough. I also stress eat, which I have been doing better at.

5. What is one area of your weightloss journey that you excel at? I am 100% committed to working out with my trainer and at home as well.

6. What is your short term goal? For this challenge I would like to lose at least 20 pounds.

7. What will you reward yourself with when you reach that goal? A new haircut and being able to open up a box full of clothes I already own that don't fit currently.

8. Best weight loss tip? Don't focus on your mistakes - move past them and try again.

9. Bob or Jillian? Jillian - Jilliam all the way. My trainer is a lot like her.

10. Tell us about yourself! I am 27 (almost 28) and I am a SAHM to two boys ages 3 1/2 and 5. My husband is in the Army and is deployed so I am parenting alone with no breaks ever. I tend to stress out a lot over smaller things because they all look big when you're stuck alone. I just started training with a personal trainer about 6 weeks ago and I am really dedicating myself to working out. I just need to focus more on the eating plan and getting to a point so I can begin to lose more.

Hun.e.B 01-15-2008 07:33 PM

LOL Cathy...love your response!! Never thought of the tattoo on the head thing. Can you believe my dh thought it would be worse to lose all your hair than to cut off a few fingers? LOL...he was helping me come up with the consequences this morning. Oh so vain he is!

jmoon...no pizza ever!!! oh you are a strong strong one!! Pizza is a serious weakness for me!

muse...great answer!!! when is someone gonna invent the lose skin remover! That doesnt require surgury!

Counting....you've got a great mindset!! We all need to just embrace this journey and all we can learn from it! Way to go!

Jen..aww I'm sorry you are sick!! I love icecream too!! Feel better soon! Dont push yourself before your body is ready!

Okay, whew I think I got caught up! LOL!

Hun.e.B 01-15-2008 07:35 PM

oops Cat I missed you there!! hello! So how do you like having a trainer? I've always wanted to do a session with one just to see how it was.
