HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!

I have managed to stay OP today. I, too, find myself wanting to eat more food and junk food at the points when I get no sleep. My 21 months has started having foot cramps and waking up all times of the night. So, I get no sleep at night either.

I only gave the kids a little heart w/4 pieces of chocolate and well, they are gone. So, I should be okay about candy.

Everyone have a great day.

I'm taking Osteo Bi-flex right now. Of course, I forget to take it on most days, so I need to really start remembering to take it everyday. Did your trainer say how long to ice for? Does anyone else here know? I'm also a little worried about injuring myself, but I find myself wanting to break into a run when I'm doing my walk on the treadmill.

Dionne, Congratulations for staying on-plan today! Hubby bought me sugar free candies along with some roses. After more than a year of me trying to lose weight, he's finally realized that I'm serious about it this time. :D

THAT is a breakthrough! The hubby bought me full fledged chocolates for V-Day :censored::drill::club::rollpin::frypan::kickbutt: But they sure taste good. ;)

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY, BLUE TEAM!!!

Gotta love our supportive men!!!

Rhonda - That thread was so amazing about LisaMarie's goal! I get so stoked when I spend time in the goal section here on 3FC. No, he didn't say how long to ice for. I would think 15 min? I'm also bad about taking my vitamins/others stuff. I probably remember every other day. I just pulled out an extra bottle and set it where I'd see it in the bathroom as well as having a bottle in the kitchen. I'm also a little self-conscious about running at the gym in front of others. I've seen a few overweight gals jogging, but no truly obese ones. Oh well...

Hi, everybody! I thought y'all might like meeting my new "baby." We picked him up this afternoon. His name is Jasper. He's an 8 week old Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy (just like Franny, my other dog...the one in my avatar picture).

Anyways, happy Valentine's Day everybody!

Nori and Anna..and anybody else who's interested in starting C25K...there is a group of us who are planning on starting on March 1st.

I will jump in around week seven. I did two miles last week with no problems. I did over 5 K total. I just need to work on stringing them together again. It really depends on the weather here. I do better outside, which is a big change from when I started. Last summer I did much better on the treadmill. Now I prefer to be outside.

Nori71 02-14-2008 06:51 PM

Treadmill vs. outside totally depends on the surface for me. If it's a dirt track/path I'm loving it outside, but if it's cement my knees hurt. We used to live close to a school that still had a dirt/clay track and that was wonderful.

He's cute and LITTLE! Take a pic of him with your hand as a reference.

Hi all. Happy Valentines Day. Hope everyones special someone was better than mine. I just had to go buy my valentines day present. I picked out a ring. He said he didn't know what to get me, so he got me nothing. I'm not wicked angry but boy we've been married almost 7 years. By now he should be better at it. And next week is my birthday. Guess I better start looking. Been pretty good today. Finally got to the gym again. Between scheduling and weather I haven't been able to go.

Rhonda and Nori - Think about adding some fish oil (or better yet fatty fish) to your diet when you start running, too. I've heard it can be helpful for sore joints adjusting to the impact. I'm so excited for you guys, I've heard excellent things about the c25k plan.
Ice should be 15-20 minutes on, then at least 15-20 off, then you can repeat if you want. Make sure you ice AFTER you exercise, and if you are really sore you can heat the area with a heating pad right before you run, but never ice before.
Also, as far as surfaces, the least impact is a treadmill, followed by dirt outside, asphalt, and then the worst is concrete. Hope that helped a little.

Nori71 02-14-2008 07:37 PM

We do salmon at least once a week, but that's hardly enough I suppose. My DH takes fish oil, so we do have the pills. Gosh, though, they are H.U.G.E.!

We don't do gifts on V-day here. DH is more of a flowers-for-no-reason sort of guy, and I like that. (Actually, I think that's how I trained him. They do need to be trained, Karen!)

GirlyGirlSebas 02-14-2008 07:44 PM

Jordan, Thanks for the advice about the ice. I'll be running on the treadmill unless I can get Hubby to start running, too. I'm very very afraid of big dogs coming after me.

Karen, I'm so sorry that your sweetie didn't remember you for Valentine's day. How is he on a daily basis? If he shows you that he loves you daily, then don't worry about today.

SCgirl- Jaspers is an absolute darling! What does Franny think of having a new baby around?

KrisR 02-14-2008 10:04 PM

Good luck C25K people! It's on my list of things I'm interested in doing but I need to get a bit more weight off before I tackle it due to existing knee issues. I'll be rooting for you though (and taking notes!).

Love the new furbaby! He's just all face isn't he? What a cutie - reminds me of a Littlest Pet Shop creature.

I did the c25k prgram last spring, and i have to say, it was the best month of my life i think! i felt so good - even went and got fitted for a pair of running shoes at a real running store, you know, where you try on like 5 different brands/styles and get what's right for you. I stopped bc I couldn't progress and had breathing problems - learned after the fact that I should have just repeated weeks until I could move on and not focus on running fast. For me running 4.8 on the tmill was just fine, but it felt odd if I didn't get up to 5 or 5.2.

There is a terrific forum on the c25k site as well. They'll start threads with all the newbies who start one week and you can all go thru the pgrm together there as well and share notes. It's an awesome site. I downloaded the pod casts, but the music was WAAAY to techno-pop (and I like club music) and I hated it. I found it better to just run by the timer on my treadmill and watch tv or my own music, and not listen to the podcast. So, just my opinion - you may want to listen to them b4 you go thru the trouble of downloading.
