My "official" weigh-in day isn't until tomorrow... BUT, because of Halloween (UGH!) and TOM (who should be here tomorrow), I am going to take a freebie week. I'm bloated! So, I won't weigh-in again (or for my "halloween mini-goal weigh-in) until next week...yay!
ALSO, a very cool story to tell you all............ It's a long one (I tried to make it short, but there's no way to do that..lol)
Hubby lost job in January. Just recently got a job. We were barely making enough money to pay the bills each month. I kept telling everyone "if anything happened to our van, we wouldn't have the money to fix it....". Our van is very nice. '99 Honda. 78,000 miles. Fully paid for (we bought it after we sold our house). So, we made the decision to move in with hubby's parents. So, from our old place to the in-laws (where we now live) is about a 25 minute drive. This past weekend while bringing stuff down here, the check engine light came on.... talk about perfect timing! Not that I think that God made our van break down, but I did consider that to be a confirmation that we made the right decision by moving in here. One week earlier and we would have been without a van. We now have the money to get it fixed and don't have to stress about what we're going to do about it.
So.....we took it to a car shop in Tulsa Tuesday. They called later that day and said that it was a problem
in the transmission and something they couldn't fix. We'd have to take it to a Honda dealership. Oye.
Brett took the van to Don Carlton Honda in Tulsa. They called him with the update yesterday. So, I'm telling you the update now.....
Brett calls and says the infamous line "I've got good news, and I've got really bad news, which do you want first". I said "gimmee the bad news".
Apparently, long story short, the transmission is dying. And, something about a computer that keeps restarting itself. We have to replace the transmission. I ask the cost of this. Brett said "$3500 on the low end". My stomach sank. I thought to myself .... $3500.... that's about 2 1/2 months worth of Brett's paychecks.... not impossible for us though...
So, I said "what's the good news". Brett said that Don Carlton Honda was so shocked that a Honda with only 78,000 miles on it was having this kind of transmission problems that they took it upon themselves to call the bigwigs at the Honda corporation. The bigwigs were flabbergasted by it as well, that one of their Honda vans which has hardly even been broken in, is having to get a new transmission already. So........ wait for it........
Honda has to offered to cover 100% of the cost of putting a new transmission in our van!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We will have our van (with a brand spankin new transmission in it for FREE) back later today!!!
God is so good, people!
