WoooHooo! Another week!
Well, I am feeling a lil' better, but I'm not gonna push it. I have felt like **** and just when i think I am better, I get up and do tuff anf then feel like poo again. I haven't lost anything; nothing at all and I am so discouraged, pissed and stressed about it. I mean come on! I hardly ate anything the past few days because I was sick and couldn't really stomach much. Geeeez... I was reading to success stories from the Woman's health email's I get and one of the gal's say's she did the Atkins and lost 16 lbs in the first 2 weeks. Anyone here ever tried it? I have an Atkins ebook and Atkins recipe ebook on my pc but I have yet to open it up and read it. I know I am a carb addict and it would be hard. I mean, I just ate an apple and you'd think that would be good, but after I logged it on fitday, that badboy had 32 carbs!:dizzy: I am almost to the point of desparation here! I am thinking of talking to my doc about the lap-band thingy. I dunno... I am just sick of wearing this fat suit! Sorry to sound negative. That's not how I wanna be or how I wanna sound at all. I'd rather be my goofy upbeat self, but dang. I feel like such a loser, and NOT in the good way. |
Diva...I had been doing Atkins until last week. I think that SBD is a healthier way to go about lowcarbing (thats just my personal opinion) There is a right way and a wrong way to do lowcarb that is for sure. As a fellow carb addict I can tell you the first couple of days are pretty hard, going through carb withdrawl, but once you get past that its a piece of cake. I stopped craving breads and pastas, my cravings turned into fruit cravings, thats really why I stopped doing the strict low carb and started doing a healthier approach. But, because I had several off plan days I'm got those carb cravings again so I gotta detox again!! GRR! LOL! Okay I'm rambling! Time to get the little one from school!
~melissa |
I think the detoxing will suck but I am hoping once I get past that it'll be ok. It's gotten to anymore whenever I consume a good amount of carbs, I get a headache and my vision is blurry. I don't know what that's all about! Does it happen to any of you? Sodium gave me headaches too so I had to cut back on that a while back.
Anywho, I am gonna read that Atkins book before I decide 100%, but I can say I am already a good 75% there. :) |
Diva, I really enjoyed Atkins when I was on it. I can't do it right now because I'm nursing. Yes, the first few days are terrible, but it's worth it. The cravings really disappear, at least they did for me. Good on you for reading the book, so many people just jump into it thinking they can just eat a bunch of meat. I hope you enjoy it!
|
Thats a very good point Leeda, its not just eating meat, too many people think lowcarb means no carb and thats just not the case. Your body still needs carbs. I lost more when I stayed over 20 carbs (which is very strict) and could feel it when I didnt get that many. I need to detox off the bad carbs though. I'm really looking forward to getting that crap out of my system again.
Off to check weigh ins, I really hope everyone got their numbers posted! ~melissa |

1. Why do you want to lose weight?
Several reasons: a. To hopefully NOT be diabetic anymore. I want to live a long healthy life and NOT have the horrible health conditions my mom has. I always seem to follow in her footsteps. :( b. To not be uncomfortable in my own skin. I want to be confident. c. To look sexy and have a "rocking body" as my finace' puts it. I want him to be proud of the woman on his arm and maybe he'll appreciate me more and "notice" me. Right now I am feeling VERY neglected. d. I want a sex life again. 2. What is one thing you plan to do for yourself once you reach your goal? Buy a brand new wardrobe! 3. What is your short term goal? It is always to lose 5 to 8 lbs a month. so far this has NOT happened. 4. Where have you found success so far? I haven't. 5. What area are you struggling in and would like help? Menu planning. I seriously need some help. I am so picky, yet I wanna get rid of the carbs and sugar yet NOT feel deprived and hungry. 6. If you could have a personal trainer or a personal chef which would you pick? Person Chef. Exercise has never been a problem. All it takes is me getting my butt up out of this chair! A Chef would be awesome because he or she could plan and make my meals for me. Less thinking about food would be awesome! 7. Name something about your body that you love? I like my hair. Does that count? 8. What is something you can do now that you couldnt do before you started losing the weight? Well I haven't lost any wieght, but since I have been exercising, my lung capacity has improved greatly and I don't get winded near as fast as before. 9. What is your favorite part about your plan? Undecided. 10. What is your Turkey day goal? (approx. 3 weeks from now) 6 lbs |
Diva, I would really give lowcarb a try, it really does what you want...gets you off the sugar and I was never hungry, in fact I had to remind myself to eat. The thing is though that on lowcarb you CANNOT cheat. Because if you do you throw yourself out of weightloss mode and it can take you days to recover. I kinda like that kind of rigidity but it can get frustrating if you arent strict.

I think so too Mel. I can't start until Thursday when I go grocery shopping and I am a lil' confused as to what my menu will be. I really love my bowl of cereal in the morning's, so that will prolly be the hardest part. :( How many carbs is recommended? What is the usda's healthy guidline? Can we do a in between? Being strict with myself will be hard as well. I get discouraged so easily. Right now I am just trying to steer clear of that damn scale. THAT right there discourages me the most.
I know all this is prolly in the book, but I haven't finished it yet. BTW, Mind if I add ya to my aim or msn thingy? I promise not to bug you much, lol! :) |

I need ALL the help and advice I can get because this is completely new to me. It will most likely be the HARDEST thing I'll ever do, but something has got to change because rather than lose weight during this challenge, I have gained 5 lbs. That's so not good!. Even if it means leaving the room when my dude so rudley eats my trigger foods in front of me with NO consideration as to what I am going through...Sometimes I hate his guts, which is not good being that we are suposed to be married next year. :o |
Diva, I'm sure you've seen the diabetic chapter in the atkins book. I have known a few diabetics who went on atkins and a lot of them were able to go off their oral meds once they were well into the diet. I will tell you my favorite parts about atkins:
1. After the first couple of days of induction, I would sometimes have to make myself eat because the hunger that ALWAYS seemed to be there was gone. 2. I ate more veggies than I ever did before 3. If I had sweets, I would feel really sick. IT made me think twice before I binged on unhealthy foods. 4. I liked OWL (the second phase) because it helped me identify foods that caused cravings or slowed down my weight loss. It's not for everyone, but if you like structure, and a little help with cravings, it's a killer plan. It can be done for life, if it's right for you. |
Hey everyone,
A Red win! Isn't that fantastic? It has been a tough few weeks for our crew d/t people dropping out and not posting. So it's great we were still able to pull out a win.
