I think that there are some of us just starting this journey of wonderful eating and keeping track of your carbs and food is a good way to start and learn good habits and then there are people like ME, who need to do this Induction thing every once in a while to shake the body up (and maybe a Fat Fast) so
Please keep track of what you are eating (Post Menus, Calories, Exercise calories burned (if you wish)) and comments on how you feel and your weight (loss) of course! This Challenge is just for 1 week 6/09 to 6/15. Such a short period of time in our life. Tho the results will resonate for our whole life!
What a wonderful ending to this short week if we do our best! Lets GO!!!!
I'm in, I need a severe "back to basics" approach right now.
I had a BAD weekend, the worst in over 8 months, an really no rhyme or reason for it - except self-sabotage, of course.
I really REALLY need to break this cycle I've done for years of losing a chunk of weight and then immediately beginning to regain it. I'd like to lose more weight, even a substantial amount more, but even if I don't lose another pound i absolutely MUST stop regaining and then spending so much time and effort working the pounds back off. It's bad for my health, it's terrible for my morale.
Monday June 9th
B : bulletproof coffee
L : bulletproof coffee
S : bacon (55g)
Thank you for joining Sarah and Satine! and Me too.. I need this also.. Just another KICK in the pants! LOL and to get the head(s) on straight. I was bad the 1st day tho.. I ate 7 raspberries and had the 8th one in my hand and the LIGHT went on over my head (Silly.. Raspberries are the OWL phase.. booooo ) Raspberries are in the freezer for Next week! Onto day 2! I hope it wasn't too bad for you all and that you did not have a Opsy moment like I did...

I had a good day - Sue, like you I had berries in my hand today, but I managed to grab a knife and cut it up for my 1 year old daughter instead of popping in my mouth.
I'm glad to have the restrictions of Induction for a few days - I need it (I'm also back to dairy-free except the butter).
Mostly, I'm bracing myself for going through all the yuck of getting back into ketosis, the hunger, headaches, grouchiness and fatigue. So darn stupid, I just did this LAST WEEK and then a bad weekend and have to do it again...
Before I get to work, I will go re-read the rules of induction just to make sure I don't make an accidental mistake...
I've been double checking on Induction, most of us are old-hat low carbers, but a few reminders
- Atkins said no caffeine. I'm not following this, today there are several studies showing caffeine has no negative impact on blood sugar or weight loss and in fact may help, so I am ignoring this rule
- no nuts. I will do my best on this, but have a busy week and macadamias are my staple emergency snack, so we shall see... I do think nuts pack quite a calorie whallop and it's generally easier to lose weight when I'm not eating them or at least eating them very infrequently. I'm itching to try a recipe that would use madadamia nut butter (to replace another nut butter) but will put it off for this week due to this challenge
- for those of you who eat dairy I'd go double check the rules and limits on this. I'm back to dairy-free (except my butter) so I didn't look in detail, just my general memory that dairy is easy to overdo... especially cream and cream cheese!
- Small daily amounts of the following foods can be added (count the carbs, however):
2-3 tablespoons of lemon or lime juice
2-3 tablespoons of heavy cream or one ounce of sour cream
10-20 olives
Half a small avocado (Um, I ALWAYS eat a whole one!!! yikes!)
Sue - lots of travel...planes, trains and automobiles!!! I actually blipped up but I'm at 172 today so I'll take it!! I don't usually get to worried about the usual fluctuations in the scale...they never have any rhyme or reason when I'm eating on plan but when I eat off plan....watch out!!
Not eating at true induction level so I did eat almonds on my salad for breakfast this morning .....I know it sound funny but I wanted a "big" breakfast" and salad is so satisfying for me! Something about the mechanics of eating that adds to my satiety...I know sounds crazy but it is what it is!!
I'm in! I'm doing Induction until I'm within 15-20 lbs of my total goal - so for a really long freaking time lol
But that's ok, there is still SO much you can eat and the weight coming off is totally worth it!
I don't really remember yesterday, and while I didn't have anything not allowed, I was super low on calories and carbs, spent most the day working outside with hub HA! So I'll just start with today:
B 3.8 carbs: 2 slices of bologna, 3 scrambled eggs with shredded cheese (I must admit, usually only have 2 eggs, but was STARVING this morning - worked outside all day yesterday and didn't eat dinner night before) L 3.5 carbs: Deli ham (6 slices) with mustard, a thin slice of cheese (1 american slice for all 6 pieces) and 2 slices of tomatoes D: Pork Chops on the grill, with low carb BBQ sauce; broccoi and cauliflower (subject to change - will update with total carbs after dinner).
Oh well.. I weighed less last night HHHMMMM Well only had 4 1/2 hours of sleep ... that coulda done it too....
Breakfast - 1 egg, 2 sausages, 1 cheese = 2 carbs
Lunch (Capital Grille with a client.... Ceasar salad (small) with Ranch and a Parmesan crust/shell and grilled chicken... Guessing 10 carbs... but everything is on plan.. that Parmesan circle crust was Salty!!
Dinner - 2 eggs, 4 sausages and 1 oz cheese - 5 carbs
Water - 55 oz
Tea - 48 oz
Carbs: 17+ carbs.... guessing

Yesterday went pretty well. I did end up eating an atkins bar and I had planned on leaving them off a week or two to see if it made a difference in my weight loss. But I caved last night when I got off work! It was either that or something worse so I ate the bar.
I did leave off the nuts and I increased my water to 100 oz. I have really been slacking on it!
