Default Anyone Doing Any Type Of Exercise???

So it's been 3 weeks on Atkins for me now and I am still feeling pretty good so I decided that I am going to try and bring it up a notch by also trying to add at least 30 minutes of some type of physical activity when ever I can. So this morning I embraced the cold and went for a 30 minute with my dog. She seemed to love the walk and it helped me keeping going b/c she kept pulling me lol

What have you done or doing to incorporate some physical activity???

I haven't started yet but I plan to start walking at the local Rec Center on the indoor track - (I'm allergic to the sun so it has to be indoors) my plan is to have my clothes and shoes laid out Sunday night and dress in them first thing in the morning so I am set to go after a cup of coffee. I figure I need to go for 2 weeks during the week to get it to be a habit then I won't think about it at all - will just get up and do it - but that first two weeks suck establishing the habit

Sounds like u have a plan packed down. YOU GO!!! I am going to try your idea of having my clothes ready to go the nite before. This morning I spent some time trying to figure what to wear to go out there. Also I am thinking of maybe trying out a 5k to help me have something to look forward too maybe one that will take place in the Spring.

I need to get back to exercise. I used to train pretty hard with a personal trainer, twice a week for half an hour. And I never lost weight, though I was pretty fit. When I'm low carb I lose weight but I don't have the energy to train hard like that on an empty stomach (but I'd have to get up crazy early to eat and digest breakfast first). I just hit the wall, completely dead. I'm so not an exercise in the evening person. So I got lazy, while I was adjusting to eating lower carb all the time. I could totally cope with a walk though, I should get back to doing that each morning.

While it may seem like such a simple thing, walking is great exercise. It can be done outside or inside. One of the best programs out there is Leslie Sansone's Walk Away The Pounds. I have many of her dvd's and love them. They are simple to follow. Some incorporate light weights & stretchy bands. They're a great alternative in rainy or cold Winter weather when walking outside isn't feasable.

I hadn't thought about a walking DVD! I don't usually use exercise videos because I'm in an apartment building and the jumping around would drive people downstairs nuts. But walking would be ok. Thanks for the tip, Jerseygyrl!

I need to start, but so far I keep stalling. I got a bad knee, and keep using it for an excuse. It's too cold for my arthritis. I'm tired today, it was a hard day. etc etc etc.

I just found the shape magazine fitness book at the good will for two bucks. I've just started reading it and plan to start small with some of the ab, strength and yoga type exercises. I also got a "beginning running" book at the good will - I fantasize about being a runner, but there's no way right now. But the books were 2 for 1 so I had to add something. It gives me a long term goal.

I haven't started yet - I've been kinda punky this week - going to look into the tapes and see if there are any DVDs of them - I used to do the Leslie Sansone tapes ages ago - and I enjoy the Wii step and also the walking one but need to get hubbies business stuff off the floor (which actually means he has to do it lol) but I got stuff off the couch and can see the couch so there is progress at least

I swim in the mornings. I tell myself I'm going for the hot tub and that gets me out of bed. once i get there I know I can do some lengths. I go every weekday morning now. It feels so good to float around that it hardly feels like exercise. Also, there are all shapes/sizes/ages/abilities at public pools so it feels more about exercise than trying to impress someone. I feel really relaxed afterwards and I'm not a morning person so that feels great. Plus, then I'm awake and showered and ready for the day! (bonus exercise of walking to the pool too!) I started when I quit smoking and eating lots of sweets. I've been able to maintain my weight with the swimmig but after two months of chocolate, tomorrow I start my diet! Hurray!

Yay Emily - welcome! And big congratulations on the swimming everyday - exercise is the hardest thing in my opinion - I know others will think that is opposite of their thinking but for me the idea of getting up and exercising is hard!
