Glad to hear these results Rho! I was very skeptical about Atkins at first...how can eating fatty foods be good for me? Getting my test results was a sigh of relief...plus it gave me something to throw in the face of the countless people who tell me it's not good for me. Once again, congrats all round! You really must be motivated now...lol.

Thanks for the warm welcome! You guys are the best.

Rho, that's AWESOME. I had an epiphany about those nay sayers. Yah, it would be better if I ate all that junk, cake, bread, sugar, etc. Afterall, I'd be much healtier eating all that and staying fat, right?

Today was average. I was fairly good. Scale inched down a bit. Average is good sometimes. Work is weird. Apparently I faked happy so well, that they believe I am content right where I am. WRONG. Anyway, I applied for another opportunity, but I have no real hope. I think the decision was made from the start and accepting the apps is just a formality. I don't expect anymore consideration for this than for my campaign to be president of Iraq. S'kay, my eggs are getting spread into more and more baskets, one of them has to hatch sometime.

Rho! that's awesome :carrot:

More proof that LC works!!!!

I wish I could get my mom to see the benefits of it as her cholesterol is very high. She just won't do it.

My cholesterol has always been a tad high. Hopefully next summer when I get it checked again it will be normal. Your post is inspiring :)

welcome! :)

I was late in joining too and doubt I'll meet 20 pounds by Halloween, but who knows it may happen ;)

I hope to eat least meet 20 pounds by Thanksgiving. Maybe we can do a challenge after this :)

I'm in too, a little later than most, so I have -15lbs by Halloween. If I get 20, so be it! :)
Hi everyone!!

Arkansas Kel 09-29-2011 10:29 PM

welcome all!
Today I was defeated by a piece of cake and 14 m&m's. DOH!!!

Tomorrow I shall not be defeated. Not by cake, not by sweets. (Marching around with bull horn). Not by bread, not by pie, not by ... I better stop, before I create a monster!

Work was good, whole office to myself, productive lil geek today. I got so much done, finished a couple of big monsters that had lain around. No word yet on the next job I've applied for. I've been pondering why I'm always second choice. Really. Not last, second. What do I need to be FIRST next time? I interview well, have a good degree, lots of experience, I'm smart, and darn it, people like me (LOL). Seriously, I wander though.

Welcome Amy! It's never too late to start :)

Kel, today is another day! I know how tempting those sweets are :P

I'm thinking about trying this recipe soon when it gets cooler outside, but with ginger ale instead of beer and Rotel instead of salsa:

1 1/2-2 lbs boneless skinless chicken (I prefer thighs)
1 jar of salsa
1 bottle of beer
1 8oz block of cream cheese

Brown the chicken (in bacon fat?) on the stovetop. (You can skip this step, it does improve flavor)
Put chicken in the crockpot, pour over jar of salsa and bottle of beer.
Cook on low all day while you're at work (for me it's 10 hours)
Before serving use two forks to shred the chicken (easy) and then add the cream cheese, stir and it will melt.

Maybe beef instead of chicken..hmmmm

You need to do this now and report back!

If you all have Dana's 500 More LC Recipes there is a yummy chuck roast recipe for a crockpot - Rho's slow cooker chuck roast -- if I do say so myself it is pretty darned yummy-- had it again last week ..and it is simple to throw together and the house smells great all day. Oh I'm Rho btw ;). And Rho is on a sleeping pill right now....sorry - wanted to let you know it is good And in the same book is a Jalapeno sweet bites -- buy bottles of Jalapeņos because this is addictive, off to bed now. Any questions I can answer tomorrow night.

Kel I'll be thinking of you today - I'm going to have that temptation of sweets etc - our grandnephews BDay party is today - I know there will be cake - so will people listen if I say no thanks or will I be forced to take a piece smushed it around on the plate and put it down -- and I have no idea what there will be to eat .. I am soo nervous - then next week is my 40th high school reunion - catered buffet - what's the chance there will be anything there I can eat...oh and I wish I were about 90 lbs less for it -- ugh

I'll let you know how I did when I get home - maybe that will help me resist temptation knowing I'll be giving an account later ;)

Oh and I stayed the same last week double ugh

SaskNewfie 10-02-2011 10:05 AM

Week 4 is done...overall, pretty good. I cheated 3 times (once with battered wings and twice due to being sick). Still, my results are motivating.

In 4 weeks i lost 12lbs, leaving only 8 to go to my Halloween challenge and overall goal!

Violet73 10-02-2011 10:24 AM

Thanks Rho! I just found her site and saved it in my favorites! I love a good roast! I decided to make the creamy southwest taco above today, but I'm using hamburger meat, ginger ale, cream cheese, and Rotel with a little beef broth. I hope it turns out good! I will let yall know :)

Here is another recipe I wanna try soon for low carb nachos!

Resist the bday cake Rho! You can do it! Can you make a LC dessert to take with you? That way you would enjoy some sweets while there and hey you may convert some others there over to LC ;) Hopefully, the reunion will have LC foods available for you. Is there a way you can find out what will be served? If they don't, then try to eat before you go so you won't give into the other food. Just some suggestions :)

Sask, that's great news! Keep up the good work! You don't have much more weight to lose to meet your goal! I sure wish I didn't :p

Arkansas Kel 10-02-2011 11:51 AM

Sask: AWESOME!! Keep it up, it's good for you and it motivates us too!

Rho: OH RHO! Hold on to yourself as best you can. If you're gonna slip make it something cheat worthy at least - don't slip for hohum. I agree, call ahead, maybe you could make a request. Some people account for special diets when ordering the food for a group, some never think about it. A polite call ahead shouldn't be too much for them to deal with, and you can prepare yourself accordingly. My last reunion served steaks, chicken, salads etc. So, steak and salad was easy, the rest was the hard part.

This week I've had a 0.6 wt loss this week, which is good considering my slips. I've been good, had one day I was sorta bad, and had a moderate Saturday. I didn't feel good and just didn't try that hard to be good. But I was at home all day so I didn't have access to anything too seriously bad, because I don't keep it. What I had was a bag of popcorn and 6 slices low carb bread. I know I could have done better, but man, I know me, I could have done MUCH worse if junk food had just been available. I keep popcorn for DH and it always sucks me in. I need to learn to limit it to a cup or two, not a bag.

On the job front, I have a unique situation. I was told I couldn't have the new job because I'm critical in my current position. Isn't that nice. I'm so good at what I do it's all I'm going to get to do. I was told to decide what I wanted to stay in the job. REALLY! I suddenly felt valued but still unhappy. I've just been through too much over the last year. Well, I'm working on my requests, and we'll see.

I am late on joining in but would like to lose 5 pounds by the end of October. I am on Atkins induction day 3.
