Cool Just have to laugh! a tad long!

So Im sure some of you saw the post about why people assume you are being unhealthy when you loose big chunks of weight some what quickly.

Well last night we had some friends over and they brought dinner. There were some things I could eat and some things I had to pass on. Well after a bit she started to notice and said "what, are you just eating veggies now?" (it was fondue (sp) with cheese, veggies and bread) and they had these turkey roll up things too. And I said no I had started the atkins diet and just sticking to the plan. She tried and tried to tell me to just take the night off from it and enjoy my self while I explained that I was enjoying my self while still sticking to the plan and that this was not just a diet but a new life style for me. My husband finaly had to tell her to knock it off that I was doing really good and he was proud of me and if I wanted to not eat bread then to let it go. So of course she comes back with...

"WELL ATINKS IS REALLY UNHEALTHY AND PROBABLY GOING TO KILL HER!!!"

All I could do was laugh and laugh and laugh my husband said hmmmmm do you normaly feel as good as she has been right before you die? I explained that I feel the best I have in years and I feel that atkins is my saving grace and nothing is going to make me go back to the way things where before because in just two weeks I am so much better. Well yeah after about another half hour they left. All I could think was WOW this is really going to cause issues in life long friedships? I appoligized to my hubby (this was one of his childhood friends and his wife) and all he said was F em if they dont like it they dont have to do it and if they cant let you be then they dont have to be around! MAN I LOVE HIM! Of course her husband told her to just shut up like 15 times but she won and they left lol. The thing is I was really excited to have a "normal night" while still sticking to induction and she crapped all over that, but in the long run I guess I am the winner for just sticking to my guns eh!!!

sorry that was long but I really just find it funny that some say atkins is so bad for you yet most of us feel better then we ever have on it!

Congrats on sticking to the plan. I've been doing Atkins/low carb and I love it. I feel much better. My fingers are no longer achy and stiff. Sugar/high fructose corn syrup and starchy/flour foods are evil! Love those deviled eggs!

a lot of people don't realize how some of us have insulin resistance and that is going to kill us with increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer and we need LC dieting to help control that. I also do some intermittent fasting some days also to help with the insulin resistance. Not all bodies are the same. For someone who doesn't have IR, they can probably be healthy just following a low-calorie diet. Everybody is different. I start in with the IR and then they get quiet cause they don't know much about it. I don't get defensive but just explain that some of us have problems with the way we metabolize foods. Congrats on sticking with your plan and yay for your husband for standing up for you!

Brooklyn, over the years of doing Atkins, I've learned 2 things about other people's attitudes when it comes to this way of eating. It basically boils down to ignorance & jealousy.
Anyone that tells you Atkins is unhealthy and will kill you is ignorant. They haven't taken the time to read the book & do the proper research on this eating plan. They are speaking from what they've heard from others who are equally ignorant about this. Then there are those who are jealous of your success. Sadly this can include "friends" & family. You are changing your life & health while they sit back eating unhealthy foods and lashing out at you to defend their eating choices. When its all said & done, you must do what is right for YOU, no matter what others think or say. If they support you, wonderful..if not, don't allow them to keep you from doing what you feel is right for yourself.
Congratulations on having a supportive husband!
You CAN do this!!!

Thank you, JerseyGirl! You said just what I needed to hear right now. I think I might need to save this to remind me later.

Good for you for sticking with it!
Some people are awful. Honestly, I usually say I'm on Low carb, versus Atkins when people ask me how I'm losing weight. Its easier to avoid all the questions, lol.
