Default I'm back too.....

SO life got in the way, I gained 15 lbs, I tried weight watchers, I feel horrible... blah blah blah.

I know atkins works for me. I know atkins makes me feel good. So.... I am back!

I am tipping the scales at 156 with a BMI that officially puts me in the overweight category. My goal weight is 130 or 125. I'd like to get under 150 asap to get out of the BMI danger zone.

I think the biggest problems for me is 1. a desk job and 2. not tapering Atkins like I should (ie climing the carb ladder as I approach goal). I keep hitting 139-135 and then falling off the wagon and staying off. I cant except to go from atkins to complete non atkins without gaining. So I am going to try really hard to hit 135 this time in induction and then add 5 carbs a week till I stop losing.

Anyways - hi, I'm back.

Its looks like we both have the same stats. I too have tried Atkins before and end up putting all the weight back on when I start eating normally.

Yeah, I went off for a bit and am trying to get back in line... I had lost 10lb and have gained less than half of it back but still! I know Atkins works for me and I don't want to keep putting myself second to my cravings. So I'm right back with ya Good luck!

Welcome back!! I was wondering where you went off to. Being off plan seems to be contagious, I was just off myself (but still paying attention to portions/calories). I'm staying at a friend's house and am eating a lot of cheese, salad, veggie burgers and mixed veggies so hopefully this will put me back into ketosis and stop the cravings so when I get home I can continue on.

I think there is a point to be made here for all of us...."If You Do What You Always Did, You'll Get What You Always Got". We all know that to lose weight, we must change our eating habits....but....to maintain that weight loss requires making those new eating habits a lifetime change. Its when we "go back to eating normally" that we fall right back into the same old patterns that got us to where we were to begin with.
Yes, Atkins works but, it only works as well as we each work Atkins. Remember, to get something you've never had, you must be willing to do something you've never done.
All the best to all of us!!!

Thanks again Kim for the motivational posts. I believe that's the hardest thing for most of us. We get where we want and *think* that we can go back to eating what we want again. I know that we KNOW we can't do that, but we WANT to maybe. I've been pretty strict on Atkins since March 2. I've lost about 8 lbs, but feel like I've been struggling since after week 1. I was totally off plan yesterday at a kid's birthday party and felt like crap. Today I'm back on track again and when I saw my bacon this morning I felt much better! It's what I should be eating, not the cereal, cupcakes, pizza bites, tacos, ice cream cake and chips that I ate yesterday. YUCK! I'm not really sure where I've been going wrong, but I think I'll start tracking my carbs. I'm pretty sure I haven't had too many, but maybe I should cut back on cheese, or up my vegge intake. I usually have eggs and bacon and half a OMM for breakfast. Lunch is meat and veggies (usually chicken), and dinner is usually the same with the other half of my OMM. Maybe the muffins are messing me up, but they really help with not being able to have bread.

It looks like a bunch of us are "back" again. Let's keep it up ladies!

Ok ladies count me back too. I got some very good advice from Jersey Girl in terms of not eating things that are supposedly "low carb" and sticking more to a clean diet approach with Atkins. I also went out to a baby shower and went off plan totally for the first time in 2 1/2 months and I must say the carb ridden food didn't taste all that good. So here's to another person going back to better Atkins. Thanks for being there.

Hi Lindsy!!

Yes, Kim I agree. I gain weight when I start binging on carbs, eating pizza but the PIE (not slice) and eating macdonalds and generally eating horrible.

I am hoping to redefine what eating normal is (protien, fats, veggies, small amount of grains and fruits (in OWL).

Welcome back! Same thing here. I've been on Atkins since jan, had lost 80 lbs, decided I wanted a break from atkins, went on weight watchers. Ended up gaining 4-5 lbs while following WW. Back on atkins for 1 week now, and Im already down 7 lbs! My body loves atkins, I just have to get my mind there too. I miss my carbs sometimes. I know I can do this temporarily to lose weight, but I'm not confidant I can do this for a lifetime. I'm working on that.
