I am doing atkins as well as calorie, fat and sodium counting. I believe it is a fine balance act each day, excess fat is not the way to go. Excess of anything for that matter. I agree people get disinterested because they think they have to eat meat, sausage and bacon the rest of their lives and no vegetables or anything else ever again. Atkins is not about that at all, it incorporates nuts and vegetables as you move through the phases.

pepperoni and mayo , i wouldn't be for me. Too much sodium i would retain water like a camel.

Ps: Atkins also is not about nitrate intake, they ask you avoid it if possible, which pepperoni is not a nitrate free food.

As long as we are talking about mayo, man do I LOVE tuna with real mayo after years of miracle whip free!! I also love as a snack mayo on a slice of braunswager - fills me up fast! I do not go crazy with fat intake, but dont' stress about it either. In fact I try to eat a fair amt of fat when in induction (again - like I am now - ugh!)

Unfortunately you can't do low-fat Atkins. Low-fat ketogenic diets are incredibly dangerous. I'm not sure what your fat intake is day to day but I feel compelled to discourage an attempt at low-fat Atkins whenever I can Don't want anyone getting sick!!

You know what I tried the other day that was actually very tasty? We had some leftover beef pot roast that was a little plain. We didn't have horseradish sauce in the house, so I mixed some mayo with some wasabi and put it on the meat - it was delicious!!
