Daily Intake Carb Count Thread

Hey everyone - Back when I used to count calories we had a daily intake thread. It was really nice to see what everyone was eating for Bfast, lunch and dinner.

I usually post this in the something for dinner thread but figured I would start a new thread for daily intake if anyone wants to join me! I hope you will post! I'd love ideas for bfast and lunch too!

Thanks!

readyfreddy 10-16-2010 08:21 PM

10/16/10

I ended up changing my plan a bit!

Bfast - 1 egg (1), sausage (1), coffee w/ half pack sweet and low (1)

lunch - chicken (1) and sauteed chanterelle mushrooms with butter (4)

snack - almonds (2) cheese (2) and avocado (2)

dinner - chicken (1), spinach (3)

treat 1 glass wine (3)

total = 21

Bunti 10-16-2010 11:59 PM

Wow, you're doing great with the carb count, I will join you tomorrow.

Are you watching portions as well?

SunnyDC 10-17-2010 01:05 AM

i'm gonna join too, i think i need to see how much i'm actually eating. i'm trying to keep at like 15, but i know i probably exceed that.

readyfreddy 10-17-2010 03:08 AM

Yeah I count out the almonds (28! for 2 carbs) and measure the avo and cheese etc.

The veggies am a little more liberal with and sort of eyeball.

StephanieM 10-17-2010 09:42 AM

Breakfast: 2 oz romaine hearts (1) 2 oz cheddar (2) 10 slice ham (1) with mayo, made little sandwhiches. Coffee with 1 scoop coffee mate and 1 sugar twin (2.5)

Lunch: The same! (I was feeling lazy after running around and doctors appointments yesterday) (3 net total as I used turkey instead of ham)

Dinner: Steak (0) and broccollie and cabbage, weighed (6)

Snack: I had beef jerkey (2) and espresso with a sugar twin (2?)

Only 8 net carbs from veggies, I'll have to do better!

19.5 total

readyfreddy 10-17-2010 02:18 PM

Steph - I am trying to up my veggie count too!

10/17/10

bfast - sausage (1), coffee with 1/2 packet sweet and low (.5)

lunch - spinach (4), chicken, taco seasoning (1), 1 tbs greek yogurt (1), 1 tbs guac (1), grated cheese (1), a little bit of alfredo sauce (1) - i make a "pan melt" putting the spinach on the bottom and then just put the lid on. the greek yogurt (i use for sour cream) and guac go on cold. total (9)

snack - 28 almonds (2)

dinner - chicken and 2 cup of mixed veggies (i got a frozen mix at costco - its broc, cauliflower and the occasional carrot. 4 net carbs per cup. I will steam and add butter and garlic salt (8)

Total - 20.5

StephanieM 10-17-2010 07:51 PM

It looks like your doing a modified induction with nuts but low carb count. I was thinking about trying to do that. OWL seems to be maintenance for me so I'm doing a modified version of induction to drop the remainder of the weight and then I start maintenance :)

readyfreddy 10-18-2010 11:57 AM

Yeah - the first time I did atkins I didnt realize nuts were a no no and ate them and lost 20 lbs in a month! I am hoping that I can still eat them (not every day) so long as I watch my carb counts. I think they are verboten because they are calorie dense (same w lots and lots of cheese) so I just try to be aware of that and lighten up in other places. They really fill me up! If I stall out I will be eliminating them and cheese....

10/18/10

bfast 3 eggs (3), coffee with half pack s and l (.5)

lunch cobb salad with ranch dressing (out to lunch w a gf) total (10)

dinner - 1 cup veggies (4) with butter and roast chicken (1)

total - 18.5

exercise = 30 minute walk

goal - drink LOTS of water. No alcohol this week (still sat.... I have a party but will keep it to carb free vodka with soda water!)

StephanieM 10-18-2010 09:15 PM

I would like to go back to my almonds as a snack. I used to eat about 1.5 g of carbs worth, but switched to bison pepperoni for Atkins. I think they have good fats and they really help with my hunger without making me go nuts (no pun inteaded)

Today I'm horribly under on my carbs and under on my calories. I don't know what to eat, and may just have some grape tomatos with a bit of mayo and lettuce before bed if need be.

Breakfast: 3 eggs (1.5) Coffee with 1 scoop coffee mate and 1 sugar twin (2.5)
Lunch: Turkey and ham breast slices (.4) 1.5 oz grape tomato (2.5) 1.5 oz romaine (1) and some mayo (0)
Dinner: Chicken Breast (1) with 1.5 oz cheese (1.5) and two tbsp salsa (1)

That's only 11.4 :( Too many low carb foods, need more veggies.

I'll look for something to snack on later!

readyfreddy 10-18-2010 11:54 PM

How are you feeling on that low? I also notice you don't have a lot of fat in there....

I stayed exactly on plan today and drank lots of water. I dont feel snacky and I can tell I have transitioned to burning fat. I feel good.

I personally like the nuts so I eat them ;)

fatklr 10-19-2010 08:43 AM

10/18/10

Breakfast: spanish scrambled eggs and sausage patties

Snack: mozzarella & herb bites and a pickle

Lunch: 2 burgers w/provolone and greek salad

Snack: bbq pork rinds

Dinner: KFC chicken (skin removed) & string beans w/butter & salt

Lots of water and 2 Pepsi Ones (w/splenda)

StephanieM 10-19-2010 10:47 AM

readyfreddy, I feel fine. That's the sucky part. I'm not hungry because of atkins so I have to find little ways to raise my calories and fat. I didn't put butter in there, but I was using that for extra fat, plus the mayo. Sometimes I'll make bacon to add in some more fat and calories (and the carbs aren't too bad)

I guess it's all about finding balance still. I have days like this, and then the day before (I didn't post everything because it was a mess) I was at over 1400 calories and right at 20 g of carbs with everything I ate. I just need to plan better I guess. Because the planning get's hard, I usually make breakfast and lunch together, count everything, and then what I'm missing I incorporate it into dinner.

I think I'll go veggie shopping today when I get my new jeans :)

readyfreddy 10-19-2010 11:51 AM

fatklr - mmm mozzerella bites.

steph - i think its ok to listen to your body and eat more some days and less others!

10/19/10

bfast coffee w half pack s and l (.5) 1 oz cheese (1) (i was in a hurry)

lunch - half an avo (3), turkey (3 - i accidentally bought some with some sugar), yogurt chive spread (1),

dinner - chicken and veggies or an omelet with veggies as a side. aiming for about 10 carbs.

total estimate 18.5

LoveRyGuy 10-20-2010 08:54 AM

Hi! Can i jump in?

10/19/10

"breakfast" - 2 pork chops with a bit of garlic and some braggs liquid aminos. I'm a little confused on the carb content of braggs, but since it was a little, we will call the whole thing (3)

snack: green tea with a packet of sweetleaf stevia (no fillers, yay!) (0) and 1 serving of almonds (3)

lunch: turkey and cheese pita (low carb flax pitas) (7) and water

dinner: well, i havent had dinner yet, lol. but egg salad (2 eggs) on a flax tortilla (5)

I work overnights, so my food schedule is messed up. Im boiling eggs right now and will have a bit of egg salad while i watch my DVR'd shows before bed, lol!

total: 18

StephanieM 10-20-2010 11:24 AM

LoveRyGuy, I use Braggs as well, I can't have soy sauce because of the wheat in it so I use their soybeans and water :)

I did better for calories and carbs yesterday, got more carbs from veggies. I ate a lot so I won't break it all down but give you guys the condensed version. I also had two whiskey and diet cokes last night and still lost .2 lbs.

Breakfast: Coffee, 3 eggs, oz chicken, green pepper, salsa and sour cream on the side (8.2 net carbs, 2 from veggies, 341 calories)

Lunch: My "wraps" which are romaine hearts with mayo, turkey breast, mustard and then cheddar cheese (4 net, 2 from veggies, 450 calories)

Dinner: 3 eggs with bacon and green pepper cut up inside, also had 1.5 oz cherry tomatoes for extra carbs from veggies (5.5 net carbs, 3.5 from veggies, 575 calories)

1366 calories, 17.7 net carbs, 7.5 from veggies. Today was poorly planned as I did have more room for carbs and I should have had more veggies. My fiance and I rarely make dinner together anymore because of how I eat so we went the eggs and bacon route so we could enjoy something together.

I will be making up for it today with more veggies and less carbs coming from outside sources that are not veggies :)

readyfreddy 10-20-2010 12:36 PM

Steph sounds good!

meremere217 10-22-2010 02:10 PM

I've been doing LC for about 3 weeks now, but I'm not doing it by the book. my goal is about 30 net carb per day and i allow myself whatever I want as long as I stay around 30. So far it's been successful, and no near as restrictive! I've lost about 6 lb, which to me seems healthy at 2 lb at week. Today my meal plan is:

8am- string cheese and atkins cranberry almond day break bar (2)
10am- jumbo beef jerky- (3)
12pm- 1 piece healthy life low carb bread(minus crust) (4)
2 pieces bologna (2)
1 piece cheese (1)
1 string cheese (0)
1 SF jello (0)
1 piece russel stover sugar free chocolate (.5)

dinner- im thinking I will get KFC Grilled chicken double down- only (4) carb so might get 2. and a side of green beans (2)

snack- wassa cracker (5) and cream cheese (1) or whipped peanut butter (2)

=around 29 carb

MamaP 10-22-2010 03:05 PM

I am a calorie counter and watch my carb intake because I am a diabetic but recently I have decided to take a closer look at my carbs. Unfortunately the tracking program I use (BodyMedia for Go Wear Fit) doesn't list fiber in the details so I'm counting actual carbs (if there is a way to figure out the net carbs in that program I haven't been able to find it). I was averaging between 100-150 carbs and am now 50 or less on most days. I have no idea how many net carbs that is, unless I go back to tracking in fit day as well as my go wear fit account and that would be too much extra work.

meremere217 10-23-2010 09:03 AM

I count net carbs

StephanieM 10-23-2010 09:18 AM

I went grocery shopping yesterday, got some new veggies so I can follow plan better :) My meals were not including those veggies though, we didn't have much to choose from.

Breakfast: 3 eggs (1.5) and coffee w/ 1 scoop coffee mate and one sugar twin (2.5)

Lunch: Tuna with mayo (0), green pepper (2), mozza (.5) and bison pepperoni for a snack (says 0 but I log as .5)

Dinner: Coffee from starbucks with h/h (2.7) two organic turkey burgers with cheddar melted on top and mayo and mustard to dip (1)

11.7 for the day.

Got some cucumber and green pepper and romaine, will be adding this in to tomorrows meal plan.

readyfreddy 10-23-2010 12:07 PM

I need to work on veggies too!

Mama - Its pretty easy to look up fiber counts on the internet. I can give you a link if you need one? In general whole grains and veggies and fruit will have some fiber you can subtract. Atkins allows you to subtract 3-4 grams of fiber per item.

do u guys count an egg as 1g or .5g? i'm gonna look it up in the book later.

readyfreddy 10-26-2010 01:16 PM

I count them as 1 because thats what it says on my carton but I think steph counts them as .5 because that is what is technically in them.

I figure labels round up and round down by .5 so it all comes out in the end (somethings that I eat will be 20.4 and counted as 20 and some will be 19.6 and counted as 20 and in the end it will even out to about 20 etc)
