I will confess early on mine is a mix ( from Rod stewart, maggie, mae, tonight is the night, to johhny cash,blondie dont' forget skinny puppy, the cure," total eclipse of the heart", prince)depeching moding all the way thru the 80"s. what was your song? Like you i am an 80s girl and listened to bands such as Talking Heads, The Smiths, ...I don't really have any song per say, but one that forever enters my head that was around when I was young was Dream Weaver. My first skating 'dance' was too that song.
I can think of so many songs that transport me to various times, places, or people, but the music that takes me on my youngest "wow, remember that?" trip would be Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out". I was six years old, and the song was on heavy rotation during a week I spent in Ohio: I recall not being able to sleep well on the bus ride to and from, envying my impossibly cool cousin as she practiced her tall flags routine on the front lawn, and getting my very first pair of rollerskates from my aunt...
...Nowadays, I can doze in just about any moving vehicle, my cousin was cut from the squad and hasn't been quite the same since, and my rollerblades sit unused in the closet because some twenty years later I *still* lack the ability to stop any sort of forward motion when I'm on wheels, short of running into various stationary objects.
There are a ton of them for me, but all I can think of right now is "Dancing Queen", by Abba.
Simon and Garfunkel was my favorite "band". Cat Stevens...

I am still stuck onmy old music from highschool. For me it's Rage Against the Machine and Nirvana and Marilyn Manson (pre boobies phase). Oh, and Days of the New.

I also listened to a lot of abba and simon & garfunkle. Though that was my moms music, I was just along for the ride.

The music was of the 60s was amazing. Not so much for what it
entailed, although that was pretty tasty stuff, but more for
what it included.
The radio station playing on the bus transporting the sleepy,
gnarly, snarling teenagers to the school many miles away would
be mixing a cross of beach, soul, british, country and rock.
And it was good.
So sittin on the dock of the bay, getting ready to wake up
little susie, before I boogie on down to south street, where I
plan on slipping into unconsciousness while I'll wait for one
last kiss and head homeward bound, will always make me misty...
The 80s will find me happy. Big Hair Bands. God love em.
Although come to find out one can only do but so many
renditions of you give love a bad name before one is subjected
to much mockery and Bon Jovi posters showing up in the
strangest locations...

i hit the 80's at just the right time i guess, i had big hair bands, come on rattt, def lepard. to all of a sudden i got "cool" and then boom, smith, cure, morissey. then i got back to my dad's roots. and it was eric clapton, janis ( who i still love, that woman had a voice)
well now i am so eclectic there is no choosing a "type" but everytime i am in charge of the music i drive my hubby nuts. what no patsy cline dear? lol
Show tunes! - they remind of rainy Sunday afternoons when I was a kid...my mom would make homemade soup and we would sit together watching old musicals on t.v while peeling potatoes and grating carrots (by hand) for the soup

Okay you all are speaking a foreigh language to me. My music was the 70s era with "Boogie Fever" by the Sylvers, The Jackson's "Dancing Machine" and then late 70s early 80s "Rappers Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang, Kurtis Blow, and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. Of course once MTV hit Tennessee I was introduced to Billy Idol, Talking Heads, and whoever it was that sang Safety Dance and Come on Aileen. Run DMC and LL Cool J were also superhot then. I knew the entire dance routine to Beat It and Thriller!
All that stuff takes me back to days of superstraight leg levi's, neon colored sweatshirts with big words on them, the lace gloves with the fingers cut off, big hair and a thousand bangle bracelets. Man that was some good times and good fun.

Oy Indeed! 1972 found me 21 and completely in love with Elton.
And capable of drinking legally in the lame *** state that went
with the 21 thing vs the 18 NY State utilized.
It was a very good year on many levels...

Eric Clapton. Lola.
Oh_yes. I plum wore out Yardbirds For Your Love album. Clapton,
Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck is still my idea of guitar playing
nirvana.
