Eating a little bit of sweets or other small treats most days (a small square of chocolate, a ginger candy, piece of black licorice, or even just some sweetened yogurt) prevents deprivation feelings for me, as does eating freely every once in a while. Exercise and keeping busy with life keep the hunger down. A good attitude is the most important, though.
