Default More confirmation that WW does work...

I have 2 friends that started their weight loss journey in March. One did WW, one did gastric bypass. Can I tell u all who looks more healthy and is down the most weight? I keep up w these 2 ppl via Facebook-very interesting results. 1st person on WW is down about 55lbs-just doing program & daily walking, very little weights, mostly cardio. 2nd person had procedure in March is down 25-30lbs, can't eat a decent meal, constant indigestion, and laproscopic scars on the belly. They both started out same approx weight and body type. I am as encouraging as I can be to my 2nd friend but she sees how fab the other one is doing-they work together. WW is the way-hands down...
So I'm back on the horse after several yrs of being off the program myself with renewed determination...I weighed in today...here I go....

I couldn't agree with you more! I have lost the majority of my 50 lbs using WW and even if I could I would not have surgery knowing what I know now. I too have slacked off the last few months but after reading your post made me realize that I'm ready to work on getting the last 60+ pounds off.

Interesting information, futuresize6. My cousin got the gastric surgery, and I always thought it was something I never wanted to do. Your friend that did the weight watchers and did the walking - Do you know how much walking she did? Did she do weights as well?

I've been debating for a few days now about joining weight watchers. I really need something that can help me make a healthy lifestyle change and keep me in check. I hear such great things about weight watchers! I'm thinking about signing up for the three months and seeing how it goes, something to commit myself to for the remainder of 2010!

That is very interesting about surgery vs. WW.

I started WW at the end of August and have lost 7 pounds so far. I am just doing the online version and I love it! When I started trying to lose weight I thought I could stick to an intutive eating plan but intutively I wanted to eat alot! I am a little frustrated because I've had 2 weeks where I haven't lost anything but I've had 2 weeks where I will lose 3-4 pounds, so my average weekly loss is 1.8 pounds. I am working on staying motivated but it really hasn't been too hard, I finally feel like found a plan that really works for me.

@Jojo-my friend that did WW walked 5 days a week she started out @ 2 mi then increased to 5 mi per walk. And I dont believe she did really any weights @ all. She looks so fab honestly it's great to see how old fashioned diet/exercise is the only way. Her skin & hair look so healthy too. It's very inspiring to see her now.

Good to hear, Jelma. I've also known quite a few people that have lost weight on WW. 1.8 pounds is a nice average thus far!

love114: I signed up for six weeks, but I know I'll want to keep it up after that. I think three months is a good timeframe to see if it is something you want to stick to.

futuresize6: It is really inspiring to know someone that made progress on the plan. Good luck getting back on the plan! We can do it!

I been on weight watchers since may and lost around 39 lbs just by doing the treadmill i walk 2 miles a day, as of a month ago i know walk 1 mile when i 1st wake up and 2 miles at night. and now im doing 5lb wights i just started tonight. WW works!!! as long as you work your progam you can lose weight. It took me about a month to get the hang of it and i made so many mistakes at 1st but hey this is a learning , weight loss journey were on.
