Question Taking A Dance Class?

Hello everyone!

I am considering signing up for a dance class at a local community college here. I have only attempted this once, many years ago, and I was so out of shape and unhealthy that I thought I would vomit and pass out on the first day! It was a beginners class, too! I want to avoid a plateau, mix up my workouts and I LOVE to dance, but I was wondering if I would be getting in over my head. Should I wait until some other time? Are there modifications to the movement, or will I be the lumbering fat woman in the back? Anyone have any advice?

Go for it and do what you physically can , eventually you will become more agile. Talk to the dance teacher for more low impact moves of the ones you find difficult , good luck

GO for it, I heart dancing, and while some look down it, it helped me stay in shape. Just don't get frustrated with it, we have some folks in the class just quit and move to the back because they can't follow the moves. They don't realize that not all of us got it right off the bat, and we still make the mistakes but we have FUN!!!!!

Sounds like a great idea. I love exercises that doesn't feel like exercises.

Do it! I've been belly dancing once a week for a year. I get private lessons, because of the hours I work, but I have done workshops and stuff too. If anything, it's just nice to do something different and break up the same ol' gym workouts every day.

I do Zumba whenever I can. Supposedly you burn 500 calories in an hour. Its great cardio, and its lots of fun. I really can't dance, but I don't care I'm having fun

Go for it! You have to start somewhere and it sounds like fun. So what if you are on the back row? At least you are having fun and getting slimmer!
