I carry the majority of my weight in my stomach. And I have noticed in the past couple of weeks it has become more squishy...has anyone else noticed that? I hope its a good sign!!!

I've noticed that too--it seems funny but the way I think of it is my fat breaking up because muscle is pushing through. I know that's weird--but maybe that's sort of what's going on? Any trainers or health care professionals on here that can tell us what that's about??

The fat cells shrink as they empty out giving that area of tissue more room inside it. Sad fact about fat cells, they never go away, they're always there, waiting to be filled in. There's a post somewhere on this site, perhaps Meg, who I think wrote it, can link it, about how the previously obese always test as obese on certain chemical testing, because we still have markers of the obese, our body chemistry is changed from that of an 'always normal weight person'. Fat cells can only be removed through surgery, which will help the appearance of the area. This is my understanding as a previous nursing student who changed majors cus those folks are crazy

I noticed that too last night, getting ready for bed, standing naked in front of the bathroom mirror. I do this thing, where I suck my belly in as far as I can, then lift up the chub and imagine it gone. I stand this way and that way. I even pull my belly all the way to one side and then turn 3/4 of the way away from the mirror and imagine the hip bone I see is the most prominent part of my body instead of my apron of fat. I noticed the sack of fat is softer than it has been and feels like it is more liquidy.

I thought it was my imagination.

Is this why some people are a "firm fat" and some are "squishy fat"? A really good friend of mine has what I've always considered "firm fat" and I think she's beautiful. Yes, she's carrying a lot of extra weight, upwards of 150 extra, but she's very firm. I have never been firm. Maybe I never had that intra muscle fat?

Doesn't matter...it's all on its way out!

I haven't noticed my fat getting squishy, and now I'm going to be pinching my fat and worrying about it, LOL.

Hmmm! I've actually noticed this too! Yet at the same time, it'll only be squishy for a bit but then firm up again a few weeks or months down the road. What's THAT about?
