Default Ot: Huge Rant.

I needed to rant. Instead of packing, I'm fuming.

We've had a roommate who has been driving all of us nuts. She doesn't buy shared things (toilet paper) she eats all of our food, she's unhygienic, doesn't wash her dishes, leaves food to rot all over the kitchen, leaves her dirty shoes and socks on the kitchen table, and makes a mess EVERYWHERE. She drives everyone in the house completely nuts. Our "manager" (our one housemate who collects rent and deals with the landlords) has to CHASE her monthly for the money for utilities, and she refuses to give more than the EXACT amount on the bill... and since the bills all come at different times, it's sometimes multiple times a month when we need utility money off of her... and the chase begins again...

SO. All of us are broke starving students, and last year this house had 5 students in it (with 6 bedrooms). The landlords' daughter was the 5th student. They decided this year to actually comply to the townhouse complex's rules, and only have 4 people renting it. But... we have an empty room that the annoying, dirty roommate is using as well. She has two rooms. She's paying for one, and she just uses the empty room to stash her stuff in it.

So, then we were approached by another student who just needs a room for 3 and a half months, and we're all thinking, "Great! She'll give us a bit of rent, we'll use that to pay off our utilities, and we're set."

Well, of course, dipsh*t roomate says she doesn't want the new roommate's money to go straight to utilities, she wants it handed to her in cash.
So we say "FINE, we'll give you your share... despite the fact that we'll just be chasing you around to get it back from you again..."
Then tonight she says, "My parents," (her parents, she says...) "Say that they want me to get half of the new girl's rent, because she's taking over half of my space." Logical arguments that she's paying for one room and getting two, where the rest of us are paying for one room and getting one had NO effect on her...
Then she says, "Well fine, then I want to trade rooms with one of you." (I'm sorry, but with the **** growing and molding in her room? Uh. No. AND I'm not moving ALL OF MY STUFF to her room for 4 months.)
And if we don't comply to these little terms laid out by her (Oh, I'm sorry, by her parents) then she says her parents will cancel all her rent checks and stop paying it. And if her rent stops being paid, she's going to tell the landlords about the extra roommate.

I've never understood why murder is illegal. She's totally dampening my packing evening. I can't even think about my flight tomorrow and seeing my baby, because I feel sick to my stomach with anger.

wow that really sucks! did she sign a lease for a certain number of months? maybe you guys should just kick her out, and find a completely new roommate. Or, if you cant, make her take out the stuff from that extra room. Or make her pay extra. She is , afterall, getting two rooms for the price of one!
That sounds so completely unfair.

Ok first....ewww about the roommate. She has absolutely no legal right to cancel the rent checks and if she did you could take her to court. I think what would be best for all of you is to tell her to that she has to start paying for that extra room or move all her crap into her one room that she pays for. If she doesn't like those terms she can move out and you can rent the room out to someone who actually has respect for other people and will clean up their messes. It is not your job to be her mother or to have to chase her around for money. If anyone is breaking the terms of the lease it is her. I wouldn't bow down to her immature actions. Her parents are equally nuts if they believe half the crap that is coming out their mouth. Sorry for sounding so negative but these ppl are crazy. Just remember you're beautiful, hygienic and going to see your boyfriend tomorrow so cheer up and don't let this girl bring you down!

Put up a sign looking for a new roommate, and give that stupid girl her 30 day eviction notice.

I'm proud that all of you have kept to yourselves so well, I would have started leaving decoy snacks spikes with laxatives or habanero powder and shoulder checking her really hard every time we walked near each other.

Anytime anyone has a bad day or she does something annoying just start cussing her out. She'll move on her own, or she'll get intimidated and start picking up her ****.

oh man, i would have kicked her *** or kicked her out a loooooooooong time ago. ive had my share of **** room mates, for sure. and sometimes they just need a phone thrown at their head. (just based on personal experiences)

money isnt always power. keep that in mind. there will always be someone else who will want that room if she doesn't.

That is absolutely ridiculous behavior on the part of your roommate. I love that whole my parents thing, I have had that used on me by a couple of roommates. Exactly how is it that her parents have so much to say about your living situation if she is not complaining to them and who knows what their actual opinions is.

I agree with Brandy, this girl needs to be sent packing!! Maybe you and your other roommates can speak to the landlord together and explain the situation. If he hears how she is, he might evict her. If you have the power to kick her out yourself then do it!!

My friends roommate was extremely disgusting as well. I spent a lot of time there so it was basically like my indirect roommate as well. She used to leave her mountain dew bottles everywhere half full and just pick them up randomly and drink them. She was also left food, dirty clothes.. the usual disgusting person habits. One night we went out, got wasted and decided to dump all the mountain dew out and pee in them. For some reason after that her grotesque behavior was more hilarious than irritating.

nah i think i win for all time worst room mate. one time i came home at 11am, no less, found him passed out, naked, on the couch, porn playing on the tv, in the living room, feet propped up on the coffee table. sitting upright, penis in hand, beer in the other, empty beer bottles surrounding him.

needless to say, it was an awkward moment. and i regret not having taken a photo of it.

the funny part is i was late for work after having my own adventurous evening elsewhere. so i had to get ready for work, and eat my breakfast cereal real fast, and quiet, and then sneak back out. i was too embarassed to wake him. although i should have.
