I met my husband online! I'm from canada and now I live in Texas! It was a little scary but we're celebrating our 3 year wedding anniversary on sunday!
I use www.plentyoffish.com .
Like most sites, there is the good and the bad. It works if you find the right ones. I met my last bf on that site. We had friends in common. He ended up cheating on me, but he was good till then.
I met my boyfriend online, but we didn't meet on a dating site. We were both members of the Steve-o Message board, and I thought everything he wrote was really funny, so I found him on myspace and emailed him. We talked for about 5 months before we met. I flew out from Texas to California, and spent the week there. Every couple months we flew out to each other to visit for a week, then finally I moved here to Ca. We've been together almost two years, and are best friends. Now I'm just waiting for a ring.
I also met my bf online, it wasn't a dating site though. It was just a local chat thing, he's a good man We've been together for 9 years, and if it wasn't for the internet, no way we'd have ever met. Good luck!
I met my husband on line. In January we will have been together for 11 years. We have been married for 8 years. It was before *dating* sites. We met in a chat room that was like a book club. He moved to Texas from California (I've noticed a few TX/CA relationships already!) and we are both crazy about each other.
I had been married for 12 years and had been divorced for 10 years -- vowing never to marry again -- not even remotely interested! -- because I would never be able to find a guy who had all the qualifications I wanted (super-intelligent, hilarious, responsible, kind, optimistic, etc.) I had real specific qualifications. He nailed every single one of them.... and.... like SwimGirl said -- we never would have met if it hadn't been for the internet.
Good luck!

i did date once online, when i was very young ^_^ It didnt result in anything huge like a marriage or anything, but it was fun and nice to have that support. Dunno if i could do it now, but you should go for it
Wow, I didn't realize that so many of the members on here had had such great success with online dating... Cool beans! I always say that online dating probably isn't for me because I don't think I could handle the potential long-distance factor (I'm weak! lol), but I've never ruled it out entirely, heh. I think the whole idea of meeting your *soul mate*, someone who lives across the world who otherwise never would have met, is sooo romantic! But I'm a just a big sap and I love mushy things like that, hehe.
Good luck to you with the website! It sounds like you might be able to find someone really special. I mean, ya never know...
I met my husband on Yahoo! Personals, circa 2000. A friend set up the account for me, and back then it was all free, but I think they might charge now.
I had a lot of luck with it. It's a nice, no pressure way to screen out people you just know won't be a good fit. Also, you can look for people specifically in your area, so it doesn't have to be long-distance.
I'm impressed also with the number of wonderful relationships everyone has from onlien dating!
I just signed up on plentyoffish.com the other day, I've already been e-mailing with a few people. It's totally free. Just be careful you know? meet in public areas, yada yada.
