Thumbs down Pcos

Hi,
I am 39 years old with pco, ive had it since I was a teenager. I have have 5 d&c's and 1 miscarrage. I found out I am insulin resilient and I am trying to get pregnant. The last time I got pregnant I lost 25pds. I got pregnant without drugs.such as clomid. but I had a miscarrage. My biggest problem is that I need to stick to a diet and loss weight. I want to loss 30 pds by the end of march. I need a diet buddie for support who is going thru the same thing I am. out there please help me.

Just to clarify, PCO is not the same as PCOS. PCO is just cystic ovaries, while PCOS is the disorder.

Now, as for the weight, there is a whole discussion on that in "PCOS, I hate this....." You can read up there as well. You should not lose more than 1 to 3 lbs. a week to keep your body and organs safe. So in 11 weeks, thats a max total of 33 lbs. Losing more than the average can add strain to your heart, liver and kidneys which can cause further problems. The first week or two you will most likely see 5 to 7 lbs come off each week because of waterweight and gas. Perfectly normal.

I am so sorry for your loss and all you have been through. I too had a D&C, but could not imagine 5. HUGGERS! You have been through a lot.

Have you looked into Glucophage/Metformin (same drug)? This drug is to be taken for the rest of your life if it does not damage your liver (shown through blood test). It is not a ttc drug but a PCOS management drug. It will help your system to become normalized. You can take max up to 2550mg a day. Average is 1500 to 2500, common being 1800 to 2000mg a day. This will give you some uncomfortable side effects until you have adjusted. Stick through it and you will be glad you did. Avandia/Actos is also another drug simular to Gluc.

There is no "diet" persay but a changing a way of life. Getting rid of the sugars and cutting back the carbs will help you immensley. You do not need a book to tell you how to follow one. Like I said, there is more detail on this in that other post I told you about.

GOOD LUCK hun and we are here if you need us!
