...to NOT eat something? A few months back, I had this AMAZING spinach artichoke cheese dip (ingrdients: cheese, mayo, spinach, artichokes) that I was completely devouring over the course of about 3 days. I had about a quarter left in the dish and I purposely left it out overnight so it would go bad and I wouldn't be able to eat it I guess the damage had already been done.....but it made me feel better!
LOL! I do stuff like that all the time. I also often end up throwing the rest of my food away (sometimes even if it's not prepared because of my gluttonous tendencies!), if I KNOW I will just devour it! I know it's a waste of money and all, but I'd rather waste money than be overweight!

I ordered a pasta dish from room service on a business trip once. The serving was huge, so I had planned to eat half. It was sooo good, I poured my iced tea on the remainder so I would stay out of it.
Very early on in my journey I made my kids home made pizza. There were leftovers, because unlike their mother, then DO know when to stop. I ran the whole darn thing under the hot water.
I throw things away all the time. Usually I have to destroy it first though. I'd absolutely rather waste food/money then eat it myself. I know it sounds like a sin, but unfortunately, me eating that food is not going to help people who are suffering from starvation one bit.
The way I see it, the food is wasted regardless of whether I eat it or destroy it. It's still wasted if I eat it because it's excessive calories of (probably) unhealthy food. Since it's harmful to me, I'd rather destroy it. I throw stuff down the disposal, squirt dishwashing liquid over it, or dump kitty litter on it. Whatever it takes.
I "accidentally forgot" (*cough* brought it on purpose) half a cake at work, knowing that I was going on holidays for one week on that evening, and that either it'd be gone or turned bad by the time I'd be back.
Another vote for the salt. When I'm done eating I will pour a huge amount of salt on food left on my plate to stay out of it. If we're eating out I will also throw my napkin or other trash on my plate when I am finished. If I order something that I know is too much I will ask for a box when I order and put half in the box as soon as it arrives. I usually don't take the box with me because I fear that I'll just eat it when I get home!
Man I must just love food WAY too much becasue I would have a very hard time destroying something that I wanted to eat really really bad.
I'm gonna start trying it though.
Oh but ya know what, sometimes when I have a huge plate of something yummy and I know I shouldn't eat it all, I just push it in front of my fiance and he devours it. He's like my garbage diposal.
Does that count?
It's so unfair, he won't gain an ounce from it.
Into the trash--the OUTSIDE trash (even though I've never gone digging inside). If we're at a restaurant, I either flag the waitress over and have her take it (I try to not take food home with me), or if she's nowhere in sight I dump my water glass--ice cubes and all--over it. Though I usually have to use someone else's water, because I've already drunk mine!
this is going to sound strange, but I once really wanted to eat somehting fattening and starchy, but ended up chewing it up and spitting it out. Sad, I know..
but I refuse to dump detergents and such things on my food. Might as well have a taste if I spent money on it, right? I never do it anymore though, I'm a wise conscious eater now
Edit: I should add that its not purging. When you chew it up and spit it right back out, without the food passing your epiglottis, is not purging...
