Default The Easter Weekend Chat!

I was expecting to see snow on the ground this morning, but so far everything is still green! This weather sure has been wacky! I'm enjoying my coffee before getting ready for the day. We need to pick up a few last minute items for tomorrow, and I still have to clean the house. There was no way I could do that yesterday with 3 little girls here, although we did get our grocery shopping done. That was quite an adventure, how did I ever manage when my own kids were little?

My scale is showing I'm down another lb, but I'm not changing my ticker until after the weekend. I plan to be really good, but I'm not sure what ham will do to me, I don't usually eat it.

Oh dear! Dreaded ham! It wouldn't be Easter without ham and ham leftovers. Luckily, I'm going to Claire's for Easter dinner and know she is having lamb AND ham. I'll opt for the lamb but have already staked my claim on the ham bone. She and Doug love pea soup but hate making it so I do it and we share.

I have a bit of running around to do today - dump, liquor store and minor groceries. I plan to do that this morning and spend the rest of the day relaxing. I'm hoping extra rest will help me get rid of this malaise which I still think is from my water woes. I'm drinking only bottled until I get a yeah or nay from the water test this coming week.

Whoops! Just realized I'm invited out to dinner tonight too! Liz is serving ham and turkey. I may have to opt out of that if I feel as cruddy this afternoon as I did yesterday afternoon. Part of me kind of wishes I felt cruddy from eating Easter candy but that's not the case.
Dogs are woofing to come in out of the SNOW!!! Time to get Life together.

What's happening with you this spring weekend?

Bake spagetti, tomato soup and cheese???? But it is quite tasty. I switched it over to WW spagetti, and DH doesn't know the diff! ....

45 minutes until time for our Pack to go clean up the park at Mark Twain Elementary. Usually the boys love to climb in the creek to pull out trash. If the water is over their ankles we don't let them so we'll just have to see. I think the snow is going to be this afternoon. I guess we'll just have to see. I know it is going to be cold.

Morning gals!

Cottage House cleaning is on my agenda today as well. We aren't having Easter dinner here, but DH invited some friends over for a cookout this evening. Barb already mentioned the crazy weather here, so I doubt we will be spending much time outside.

Ruth I hope that you will take the time to rest and relax today. Take care of you, my friend!

Barb Sounds like you were quite productive yesterday. I always love it when I get stuff accomplished! It is going to be COLD at the Rangers game tonight. Brrr.....

Schatzi I love the Peeps too! Abigail has had quite a bit of candy around from her egg hunts...... I have consumed a good bit of it too.... Polish Spaghetti sounds good- I bet my crew would love it!!

Me- I need to do some running around today. I am hoping that the banks are open- I assumed that they would be closed yesterday, so we didn't go. DH got his first full paycheck- let me just say AMEN!! Especially with no daycare expenses this summer, we should ve able to get ourselves caught up and start working on getting ahead. We are reading this book called Extreme Money Makeover- it is a plan to help you get out of debt. The principles make sense and it is nothing outlandish, just more about being disciplined in your spending. We have been very disciplined in our spending as we haven't had much extra, but we need to be smart now!

Okay, I am going to hop in the shower and get this day started. Hope everyone has a Happy Easter weekend!

Good Morning Beachy Friends

I cannot believe this weather, it is 42 degrees in South Texas in April. This is what we call our Easter Spell...but usually it is not on Easter Weekend, normally we are at the lake enjoying the sunshine on Easter Weekend, but not this year... I had already turned off my heater, and summerized it, had A/C all set....now I may have to turn heat back on.

I am almost ready to go back to work, few more things to get done. I am running into town today..(its 30 miles one way,so I just can't run to town, have to plan it out)

Everyone take care and have a Hoppy Easter Weekend..

It's Saturday Insanity out there today, everybody and anybody is out and about! And the traffic! I haven't seen crowds like that since Christmas! I got done what I needed to get done, and now I'm home for the rest of the day except for picking up Monica and the girls at the train station at 2:30. Eric has a show tonight, and two tomorrow and will be coming out after that.

Ruth, I'm glad you are going to be spending Easter at Claire's and not staying home by yourself. I do hope you start feeling better real soon, too. That's wise, not drinking your well water until it's been tested, you never know.

Schatzi, I never cared much for those marshmallow peeps, thank goodness! Chocolate is my downfall. Jake always has to have those peeps, and he likes his hard and stale, too. What's with that? As one Italian to another, I had to laugh at your declaration of Polish Spagetti - "sacrilege"! It does sound good, though.

Barb, have fun at the game tonight, and dress warmly! Brrrrrrrr!

Kiko, for you, reading Dave's book! He makes a lot of sense, and I try to catch his radio program every day. I only wish I would have discovered him sooner.

txshortfuse, Isn't this weather crazy, seems the entire country is affected!

Cookiemonster, enjoy your weekend!

Hi All -

Happy Easter to all. It is freezing here...about 25* F. I thought it was supposed to be Spring?!?

I woke up extremely early this morning (6:45...on a Saturday) and have actually gotten a few things done. I went to Target I bought a ton of stuff, including a whole new sock wardrobe! Then had to schlep it all back on the subway! I almost took a cab, but I just can't shell out the $ when I have a monthly subway pass.

Speaking of Peeps...did you know Target has a special edition red Peep chicks? I almost bought some to take pictures of...but I have enough here already and I don't want to spend anymore $$, since I just toss them when I'm done...Is all this Peep talk considered Food Porn???

I still have dishes to do and trash to take out. I need to start my chili in the slow cooker and make the rest of my food for next week (enchiladas and Cola Chicken). Oh, and laundry.

I need to get to it.

Have a good day y'all (that was the Kentucky in me) : )

-Anna

AnnaRenee, aren't those red peeps weird? My granddaughter, Caite, is here right now and was telling me all about Peep Jousting Tournaments. Apparently you stick a toothpick into each of two peeps, and put them on a paper plate in the microwave. Turn it on and watch the action. The first peep to poke the other with his toothpick wins. Weird, huh?

Hi Everyone

cottagebythesea I love chocolate too.
Kiko Extreme Money Makeover-sounds like a great book.
Ruth I tried lamb once. Is it considered a lean meat?

Hope you who celebrate all are ready for Easter tomarrow. Also wishing you a Happy Passover to all who celebrate.

I have a cake in the oven as we speak. I am having my family over for dinner tomarrow after church. We have just been celebrating all week long. Last sunday at church I taught on the matzo and the 4 cups of wine. At daycare on tuesday we had matzo for snack, and on weds. we served kugel (a jewish noodle dish) as a sidedish. Thursday was our daycare "Easter Dinner". (Needless to say I have not been OP all week).

Friday I was off work and cleaned house all day. Afterwards I made matzo toffee and matzo-egg pie to take to our friends house for a meeting we had with our business partners this morning. Everyone just raved over the toffee and egg-matzo pie. I think I'll have to make more pie next year as gifts for friends. It was delish...

Hope you all have a wonder weekend. Be blessed

Hey chickies, a late check in for me today. Taught my dance class this morning and got a real good work out. Then headed over to pick up some Easter Bunny for the girls, they didn't want much candy this year so I actually didn't over buy usually I buy so much that I end up filling a big bowl which of course I usually snack on. I got them some new undies and socks and those cute little tights the kids are wearing with skirts a new toothbrush and paste and some lip gloss and make up stuff and some cute little head bands, its so much harder when they are teens, and I refuse to let it be christmas.

House work is done laundry is on going.
Had some chinese for supper and I feel pretty yucky. But thought of Ruth when I was ordering it, I could only eat half of it though which was impressive usually I finish the whole thing. But I have still be sucking back the water.

We are going to DH's mothers for Easter dinner, we are having ham as well, but then she is making a dessert that is called Chocolate bar pie, and I am scared, chocolate is my down fall. I plan on drinking a ton of water on the drive up there so I won't be hungry.

Well must dash and change the laundry over and then iron my clothes for tomorrow. Have a great Easter chicks.

Happy Easter to those who celebrate and a happy Passover too! The Bunny did not bring me a darn thing although the Girls and I have searched the house. Actually Lucy looks a bit guilty so.....

Cottage, the shopping crowds astonish me too. Easter seems to have turned into Christmas with lots of gifting. We used to just get candy from the Bunny and have coloured boiled eggs for breakfast.

Schatzi, ICE? I thought you were in the South! Polish spaghetti? Make him Easter pie instead. I looked up a recipe and though my cholesterol would go through the roof just reading!

Kiko. happy paycheck! I've been in that situation and know how good it feels when things start looking up.

Txshortfuse, I can relate when you say "run into town" as I'm about 30 miles from good shopping too.

Cookiemonster, I never got addicted to Peeps as they are scarce up here but sure can relate to those cream eggs! Be strong!

Busy Barb, I hope the clean-up went well with the boys. We have a bee here every April to clean up the Village. The boys love to get creek cleanup duty!

Anna, a sock wardrobe? Good idea! Any fancy striped ones? I have a pair and they always give me a lift.

Stinger, I have lots of Jewish friends in Ottawa and just loved being invited at Passover. Did you know you can get whole wheat matzo? Matzo toffee? I wonder if it's OP.

Little Chick, I hope you survived the Chinese food. I salivate just reading about it. Be vewy afwaid of anything called "Chocolate Bar Pie"!

Me - Yesterday was a bit of a wash as I had to cancel out dinner. I spent about six hours loafing on the couch by the woodstove watching TV - I even watched Deal or No Deal! I did get some knitting done though.

Our Easter service is at 1 PM today. After Church I'll go visit Harry for a while. I MUST go to Claire's for dinner or her grandkids will be disappointed. She's having lamb AND turkey and always cooks healthy veggies so it should be OK. Lemon tarts for dessert may be a problem!

So how is your Sunday shaping up?

I bet easter baskets have been found, kidlets in their Easter Bonnets, families a goin to Worship today, and then Hams and Lambs abound for dinners!!!!

Ruth: sorry you still feel a bit wonky..but a good dose of Claire should lift yer spirits!

Cottage: You are sooooo right! The stores were mobbed here yesterday too... What the heck I was soo tempted to buy peeps just to do a jousting that sounds so funny!

Stinger: Noodle Kugel! YUMalish!!!! My family has gentiles, jews, buddhists, J.Witnesses, Agnostics etc... It's wonderful to be expose to all different faiths. Especially noodle kugels and chocolate covered matzah

Kiko: YAY for the Paychecks comin in the house!!!!!!

Cookie monster, Annarenee, Barb, LC and TX!

Well, we ended up going to Longhorns (a Steak chain down these parts) for dinner last night... half a strip steak, salad and sauteed mushrooms... I swear my stomach has shrunk, I use to be able to eat a whole 8 oz steak, baked potato etc... Then DH wanted to buy Casino Royale DVD so we hit the mob scene at Target... Came home, lit a fire, and watched the movie.. All the hype about it was right! An excellent Bond movie! So instead of the traditional ham dinner... DH wants his Polish Spagetti tonight...
