  • Okay, I've been bombing on these challenges. So i'm going to make this one as small as possible in the hopes that i will not fail miserably.
By the end of this month my goal is to have figured out our new diet plan and get myself going to the gym again. also to get my husband to go for walks with me - which is nearly impossible, but i'm still going to try darn it!
  • Hey Hannah, did your heat allergy thing clear itself up? Or are you still having to work around it.

Also, this talk of push ups reminds me (again) that I need to buckle down and find a physical therapist to look at my wrists. I haven't been able to put weight on them for years, despite all the arm exercises I do at the pool. I think if they were really just weak (like my regular doc says) they would have strengthened up (at least a little!) from all the resistance work.
  • lizziness~ any chance you could dangle something out in front of your husband to guide him through a walk?!

tani~ have you ever had an MRI on your wrists? "weak wrists" as a diagnosis from your doctor sounds so...i don't know...girly or something. surely there's something more than that! btw, how's the new commute routine going?

Small amount of cardio last night and down to 920 on crunches and 959 on pushups. On Monday I could only do 3 in a row, but last night I could do 5! it's funny it's such a small thing, but still!

I really want to get on the scale again...will...not...look....!
  • So far, not so good Haven't lost a thing but have maintained despite a bad weekend.

I am working on my plan for holiday next week - eating well will be challenge as we are staying at a hotel and will be eating out for every meal
  • Me either
At my WI last Sat I had gained 2 lbs - of course I kinda expected that since I lost too much at once for it to stick -and it was a very bad eating day last Friday.

I think my food choices have been better this week - not perfect - but who is?

And I added that hill hike for hubby that if nothing else will tone my big fat butt!

Going grocery shopping SAT and that is a WO and 1/2. When you buy 2 weeks worth of food plus a couple cases of water - the cart is barely rolling when you hit the checkout - that is how I know I am done - when the cart is immovable!
  • Agh, I gained 3 pounds while my dad was visiting. I think there were three factors at play: 1) too much eating out; 2) trying to balance my BF's vegetarianism with my dad's South Beach; 3) the six pack of 24 oz bottles my dad bought me "for a treat" when I don't even keep the stuf in the house anymore. But I'm getting back on track. I did some meal planning last night. I'm about to go for a long walk (an hour or so). And we set up the weight bench this weekend, so I can finally start some weight training again. (For years we've lived in spaces where the bench was very inconveinient to set up, now we have a nice space where it can be set up and put away easily.) Toned arms, here I come!
  • Hannah - you go girl!
  • Yippeee! I'm not down to the next size smaller...exactly. I can get them on & zip them though! I just have a little bit of that "back fat" around the edge of the waistband to kill off & my thighs are a wee bit snug. I THINK I can firm up enough by the end of the challenge to fit all the way though!
  • Good going chicks!

I have stayed the same but I vow to lose at least 2lbs in the next 2 weeks.
  • I am sooo bad! I go & brag about fitting (mostly) into my skinny jeans....did I ask for it or what???? Don't you know that very evening I went out & got an enormous piece of carrot cake with cream cheese icing & a slice of tiramisu. My boyfriend ate half of each so its not as bad as it could have been butttt.....lol. I guess I could use the I was about to start my period excuse but thats lame. Oh well, back on track. And it WAS darn good junk too!
  • I guess I never mentioned my weight loss on this thread (everywhere else though)

Anyway - was 236 - then went up to 238 on the 30th (after way to much salt - and fried things) then last sat was down to 233. (lots of fiber and exercise to clean out the ick)

    WEEE roller coasters are fun!
  • Melra,

I haven't had a thing done to my wrists other than my doctor bending them and giving them a poke I'm long overdue for a real look into them.

My new bike commute starts tomorrow I got my bike parking pass in the mail yesterday. Eeep! I'm a little nervous about riding off the boat with a zillion other bicycles (followed by a zillion motorcycles) at least I won't have to do that part every day.
  • Checking in!
Hi everyone! I just wanted to touch base and see how everyone is doing on the Challenge.

tani~ zillions, huh? I would feel intimidated too, but how cool that you are taking that option. It would really shock me to see anyone in our city actually riding a bike to work.

hannah~ Good job getting back on track and planning out your food. Your comment about your dad wanting to "treat" you with soda got me nodding. Seems as soon as I try to cut things out, someone pops up with some treat that I "deserve for being so good"...totally frustrating and tempting!

sara~ saw from your ticker that you are down 2 pounds toward your Challenge goal! Good job! and still plenty of time to get the other 4 pounds!

mauvaisroux~ have you already survived the hotel holiday dinners?

lizziness~ any luck moving the husband yet?

dawnlizbeth ~ I noticed that you went from "boyfriend ?" to "boyfriend." It's got to be hard to avoid temptation when the dating is so new, but glad to read that you're back on track. How's the dog walking going?

ajandp99~ You're only 3 pounds away from your Challenge goal! That's great! Have you had any luck with the weight training part?

I finally updated my signature to include my Challenge goals and progress. I think I'm doing really well on the pounds, with only 2 more to go and almost three weeks to get rid of them. The running is okay--I estimate I can run about 8/10 of a mile continuously, and I'm pretty sure I can meet my goal. I really need to catch up on my strength stuff and I seriously doubt I'm going to make my crazily optimistic goal.

How is everyone else on their progress?
  • Well, I'm almost down to where I was when I started this challenge, which is pretty good considering I've only gotten things back under control for a week. My ticker says I'm down to 190, but really I'm at 190.5, I guess it can't do half pounds. I've been exercising in the evenings and eating right, paying close attention to fiber and water. I'm finding that these are the big keys for me. I've used the bench some, but I'm finding that it is tougher to set up and take down than I thought. I think I just need practice. BF has been home "on vacation" this week, which has resulted in a bit of unplanned eating, but nothing I couldn't make up for later in the day.

Merle - nope - no weight training yet - I did add a new exercise though - hiking up our back hill to water the deer garden that DH planted - it is an extra 500 ft straight up a steep hill - major butt workout. Plus it is very nice up there in the woods.

I have also started a new hobby - raising baby chickens - I just started the incubator on Monday - it takes 21 days - I have to check it several times a day to make sure temp is steady so that gets me off the butt more often during work hours.

Hannah - I totally here you on the unplanned eating thanks to the man - I told DH long time ago - I am not eating with him except for dinner - he is on his own for the daily intake - since he eats like 6 times a day and doesnt gain an ounce -******* -
