The Happy and Grateful Thread

This thread idea was originally started by ellis - it is such a good one that I thought it would be nice to start a new one :D

I am happy and grateful for having a wonderful and supportive husband who came up to me as I started eating some Reese's Pieces and put his hand out, looked me square in the eye and said "you're 2 pounds from goal right?"

I said nothing and handed him the bag of candy......

Love that man o' mine!

ellis 08-09-2004 09:20 AM

Oh, Mauvais! That is the sweetest thing! :)

I'm happy and grateful that I managed to kill an enormous house fly in my kitchen this morning. (why the heck are they called "house flies", anyhow?!) It was in the window amongst a lot of precious blue glass pieces, and I couldn't hit it, so I carefully selected what I thought was the most potent weapon... a spray bottle of Scrub Free Bathroom Cleaner with Bleach!. A cruel, but quick death.

I'm also REALLY grateful that, despite the fact that I slept in until 8:30 this morning, the rest of the family is still asleep, and I can enjoy my coffee in peace. That's the family that I'm otherwise SO grateful for. :D

Thanks for starting this back up, Mauvais. :)

mauvaisroux 08-09-2004 09:38 AM

ellis - well at least it was quick!

I am happy and grateful for a beautiful summer morning :sunny: I am currently enjoying the view from my office window and can see out across to Quebec- the Gatineau Hills are beautiful! :D

Ruthxxx 08-09-2004 02:01 PM

I am happy and grateful for Gail who has made my house look so marvellous this morning. May she live forever!
I am happy and grateful for my loving Lucy who is curled up at my feet.

lizziness 08-09-2004 02:42 PM

I am happy to have a helpful and sweet family who goes overboard with their helpfulness and is very generous even when they do not have much money to go around.
I am also very grateful to have a husband who works with me and is helpful and takes care of me when I am sick. Also, while I'm at it I'm pretty grateful not to be sick anymore! :)

ellis 09-25-2004 07:32 AM

I'm happy because my new kitchen appliances are arriving today, and we're renovating the kitchen!
And I'm grateful that my relationship with my Mom isn't going TOO badly since Dad died.
And that when I went to the bank to pay the mortgage yesterday, they told me it'd already gone through, so I have more money in my account than I thought! :)

Ruthxxx 09-26-2004 06:01 PM

I'm happy and grateful for this lovely fall day which had just the right balance of things in it: church and great coffee afterwards, a visit to my grand puppies, a simple lunch, energy and enthusiasm to do a few hours of kitchen work and time to read on the back deck with Hershey and Harry.

jiffypop 09-26-2004 06:36 PM

i am grateful for the trip through the just-starting fall foliage of the northwest joisy hills to one of my favorite crafts shows [juried and everything]. a gorgeous day for it.,

and even better: i bought a FEW special items, and spent much less than i usually do!!!!!

Leenie 09-27-2004 08:36 AM

I am greatful for my health (although fat) I'm still healthy and my family's health. Nothing is more important that that.

I am greatful for my job and my home.

I am greatful for my friends, here at 3FC's and home.

I'm greatful for another day that I can start my wlp over again.

Mostly I am greatful that I have Jesus.

Only Me 09-27-2004 09:44 AM

I'm grateful that my dh didn't grumble this morning when I left him with the kids (all 3 awake already) to go for a run at 6:40am.

I'm happy to be 2lbs away from the upper limit of my goal weight range (127 this am) and to feel so much stronger and fitter while running.

I would, however, kill my dh if he ever tried to take chocolate away from me.

ellis 09-27-2004 01:37 PM

I'm grateful to have had a productive day, and a surprisingly productive session with my psychi. :)

mauvaisroux 09-27-2004 04:02 PM

I am happy and grateful that I will be moving into my new house in 3 weeks! :cb:

ellis 09-27-2004 05:50 PM

And I'm happy that I'm going to have Mauvais for a neighbour!
Speaking of which (and I know this doesn't interest you right now, but you can file it for future reference :lol3: ), I can tell you how to get rid of the grass that's coming through your patio stones. Without using chemicals. Boiling water. Seriously. Boil the kettle, and then dribble the water over wherever the weeds are coming through. Kills 'em. I do mine about once a month, and it works really well.
In fact, I even use my saved boiled vegetable or pasta water, and recycle it while it's hot!

squeaker 09-27-2004 05:56 PM

I am very grateful that the only thing hurt in my accident was my car.

I am happy and grateful my mom, sis#2, and nephew came to visit & check on me.

I am also grateful for cold medicine!

3fcuser1058250 09-27-2004 06:25 PM

Mauvais and Ellis do you guys live in Ottawa?

I am happy and grateful that I am strong :strong:..At work today I was able to save a LOT of time putting shelves down a notch at the library where I worked, without having to take ALL the books off the shelf !! The reason I am strong is because I am healthy  , I am GRATEFUL for that health ...

ellis 09-27-2004 06:28 PM

Yes, Lanaii! Come and visit! We'll have dim sum! :)

3fcuser1058250 09-27-2004 06:33 PM

I live in Cornwall, I go to Ottawa quite often, we should make plans to meet...

ellis 09-27-2004 06:38 PM

Hey, you're so close! I know Cornwall really well. It's a beautiful city! (okay, a little smelly in some areas...)

mauvaisroux 09-27-2004 09:05 PM

Oooh yes do come for a visit Lanaii! :)

mauvaisroux 10-07-2004 01:02 PM

I am happy and grateful to be able to enjoy a lovely sunny day today :sunny:
and that I am almost finished packing to move :cb:

Noodles913 10-08-2004 06:30 AM

I am happy and grateful that I am just alive and breathing...and I can see. :smug:

(you mods know what I mean.)

ellis 10-08-2004 08:03 AM

Yes, Noodles. What a wonderful, dear doctor you had. :grouphug:

I am grateful for my wonderful daughter. It's her birthday this weekend (15!), and I am so blessed.

squeaker 10-08-2004 08:14 AM

Happy Birthday to Ellis's wonderful daughter. :grouphug:

As odd (or selfish) as this may sound, I am happy & grateful for my friends, and knowing they appreciate me. I don't mean it to be selfish. It just gives me a happy - warm - fuzzy feeling knowing that. I am happy I can make a positive impact on my friends. (Ok, maybe this isn't making sense. :p)

ellis 10-08-2004 08:28 AM

Thank you, Squeak! :)
And what you said makes perfect sense. Good friends are hard to come by, and the fact that they love you so much means that you give a lot to them. I love you for the same reason! :grouphug:

mauvaisroux 10-08-2004 10:07 AM

ellis- wish your DD happy birthday for me! :hb: :gift:

I totally agree with both of you and squeak about friends. Giving of friendship and getting it are both equally important and feel good :D

I am happy and grateful that I have such awesome parents and that I have such a good relationship with them. A lot of people don't have very good relationships with their families so I consider myself lucky. I am going out with them tonight and when I see them I am going to give them both a big hug!

tikanique 10-08-2004 11:22 AM

I'm happy that my mom is coming to visit with me for 8 days! She can help me figure out how to decorate my house!! woohoo!!!

Tiki.

YAY!! I can't wait to see it!! :hyper: Sucha great warm fuzzy feeling...your first home. When you finally get the keys it makes all of the hassle to buy it worthwhile. Your OWN home....no more rent!! Yippie!!! :cb:

I'm happy and grateful today because I have the energy to weed through another 5-6 bins of junk. Got 3 done so far and priced...and 2 more bags to donate. Yay!! :smug:

mauvaisroux 10-14-2004 09:33 AM

ellis- well now that you mention it.....naw, if you want to come over for a look see then you are more than welcome :)

We went by the house last night and you are right, you can see into each other's yards so I guess my plan to sunbathe nude during the summer is out

We have alot of patching, repairing and painting to do over the next week but it will be well worth it - I am happy and grateful to finally have my house :D

dentrassi 10-15-2004 08:08 PM

Mauvais-Unless you are an exhibitionist!!!

Okay, I rarely post here since I am SUCH A CRAB, but today is an exception. I am thrilled and happy and grateful that my family is healthy. Now looking forward to my surgery. Despite recovery time it should immediately improve my hand (they are numb all the time now to some extent...some days worse than others.)

ellis 10-24-2004 08:09 AM

I am happy and grateful that Dad's memorial party was so beautiful. And I'm grateful to have had such a wonderful father.

Noodles913 10-24-2004 04:37 PM

Awww Ellis, how sweet. I am happy for you too. :grouphug:

I am happy and grateful that I finally got over this damn flu bug and had enough energy to clean up the pigsty that my family refused to clean while I was sick. Now the house once again sparkles. :D

ellis 10-24-2004 06:13 PM

Thank you, Noodles... you're a sweetheart. :grouphug:
I'm glad you're feeling better!

Noodles913 10-25-2004 04:13 AM

I'm happy and grateful today because we have new neighbors next door...and they are a very sweet elderly couple!!! I'm gonna have to adopt them. :D

(Noodles LOVES old folks!!)

mauvaisroux 10-25-2004 11:00 AM

I am happy and grateful to finally own my own home. :D

I am happy and grateful that I have such great friends and a dad that helped me paint my place before we moved in :)

I am happy and grateful that I won't be moving again for a long, long time!

Noodles913 10-25-2004 04:25 PM

:cheer: YAY MAUV!!! :cheer:

Isn't it a nice feeling..owning your own home!!! It's like...Ahhhhhhhhhhh...I'm home!! :cloud9:

Congrats and post pics soon!! :D

I'm happy and grateful that the weather around here finally cooled down to the low 70s. The heat was just too much this year, for one that is having hot flashes all the time. :hot:
