  • Good morning everyone!

    Time for another challenge to get ourselves moving - the date is August 1st.

    This gives us roughly 7 weeks to reach our mini goals if we all start on June 14th. This will also give us the rest of this week to organize our food plans, grocery shop and get an exercise program set up.

  • Well, here I go!

    Current weight: 161.5
    Mini goal: 5lbs
    Plan:
    -keep a daily food journal
    -drink 64 ounces of water each day
    -plan my menus in advance
    -eat better on the weekends
    -exercise every day for at least 30 minutes
    -work to reduce some of the stress in my life
    ( I am a stress eater)


    My reward: a manicure and a pedicure at a local salon

    Your August mini goal: 5lbs
    (I'm revising this a little. I want to lose 5lbs by my birthday July 8th, then the next 5 by August 1st)
    Your plan of action to reach that goal:
    --Increase exercise from 3 days to 4 and eventually 5
    --Learn to eat better in the evenings and the weekends
    --Give up sodas once and for all!
    --Reduce my sugar intake even more

  • Hi y'all, I was in a Canada Day Challenge, but I accomplished my goal for that (July 1st) this week and last night decided to set August 1st as my next goal day, so this is perfect. Here is my info:

    Current weight: 196

    August mini goal: 185

    Plan of action to reach that goal: Gym 4-6x a week, Water Aerobics 1x a week, Pilates 2-3x a week, 90+ oz of water a day, More salads at dinner, Continue to keep my calories at about 1200 per day

  • I'm in! This will really help me get the last few pounds of fat off, I hope.

    Your current weight:
    164. It actually wobbles from 163 to 166. Usually it will do that for about 10 days to 2 weeks before I lose another pound that I feel I can post.

    Your August mini goal:
    39" hips, 31" waist. At this point, it's not about the pounds, it's all about body fat percentages. I'm at the point where I can't diet "hard" because I will lose 1 pound of muscle for every 1.75 pounds of fat. Not good. It's also important to get the abdominal fat down, because it's "dangerous" fat. Too bad it can't migrate up to my chest.

    Your plan of action to reach that goal:
    Expunge all remaining traces of sugar from the diet.
    Eat organic whenever possible.
    Lower saturated fat content.
    Eat more frequently (eating 6 times a day is hard, I'm just not that hungry.)
    Gait analysis/running orthotics to help me jog better.
    More sit ups (ugh!)

    Your reward for reaching that goal:
    Size 10 jeans. I tried the low-rise at size 14, but I got "plumber's butt." Jeez, nobody told me you moon the whole world in those things!
  • Hello everyone! This is my first challenge and I'm going to make it a kind of simple one because I have some temporary setbacks.

    Your current weight: yesterday, it was 194; today it's 198...I think my scale is out of whack because I didn't binge yesterday.

    Your August mini goal: lose 5 lbs.

    Your plan of action to reach that goal:
    ---eat at least 4 small meals a day
    ---drink at least 8- 8oz glasses a water a day
    ---do cardiovascular exercise at least 3 times a week
    ---eat my "plan meals" as much as possible

    Your reward for reaching that goal:
    A massage at a massage school.

    Your plan of action to reach that goal: Okay, this is going to be super hard for me. I'm leaving for England on the 15th (until the 30th), which means a lot of yummy food but also a lot of dancing and walking and exercise! I want vacation to not mean "binge fest."

  • The month is already almost half over!!!!! Oh, no!!!! (I summer!!)

    My current weight is: 227lbs.
    My August mini goal is: lose 10 lbs.
    My plan of action to reach this goal: walk for at least thirty minutes every day; take smaller bites and eat more slowly; take full advantage of all the veggies and fruits now available.
    My reward for reaching the goal: a pair of gold hoops earrings I saw.

  • I am joining in here, I have had a bad couple of weeks, just eating everything in sight it seems. I am down to aproximately 20 lbs to go, and it is tough. I have gained 3 lbs, I guess I should be grateful it was not more given how non-controlled my eating was

    Your August mini goal:
    145. It might be a little unrealistic, but I like to go in 5 lb increments.

    Your plan of action to reach that goal:
    1. Diet (generic low carb.)
    Absolutely NO sugar. I am so good at making "exceptions" for cheese cake day in the cafeteria, or the wonderful cookies they serve at employee of the month ceremony, or Ben and Jerry's after a fight with the sweetie.
    Continue my yogurt/cinnamon/ground flax seed/splenda breakfasts.
    Unless there is CLEARLY a low carb choice in the cafeteria at work, make lunch the salad bar. I need my greens anyway.
    No more bedtime snacks. I MEAN IT!!!
    Drink my water.
    2.Exercize daily.
    Get to curves 3 times a week (Mon, Thurs, Sat is my usual schedule) instead of the 1 to 2 I have been averaging. No more "too busy" excuses. I have transfered to one closer to home with longer hours.
    Continue to get to dance class week.(Tues)
    Do some other form of exercize Wed, Fri, and Sun. Dance practice or walking.

    Your reward for reaching that goal:

    The DVD of the first season of "Stargate-1"?
    Probably a music CD of some sort. Middle Eastern or maybe Saffire - The uppity blues women.

  • I don't think that is unrealistic - we have 7 weeks and if you lost 1lb a week then you will make it

    Your plan of action to reach that goal: Watch what I eat. Lots of fruit - grapes, watermelon, blueberries. Walk. Yoga. Tai chi.

  • So today's the day we start... I was just wondering how we were going to go about this... Like are we going to have weekly weigh-ins or anything?
  • Check out the Week 1 August challenge thread. I put that thread in so we can have a daily chat about what we are doing, exercising, triumphs, struggles, questions, advice etc and will start a new one each week. Sort of a weekly count down to August 1.

    We can weigh in once per week - you can choose the day. I am using Monday.
