Alternachick chat April 1+

Good morning chicks!

Just thought I would start a new thread since we are at the beginning of a new month.

Ahhhhh Spring....feels like a fresh start! :D

LadyOnFire 04-01-2004 11:09 AM

Waaaaaaaa...

 ...my son left for boot camp yesterday. I am at work and feeling the blues!!! It is rainy, cold and generally crappy.

I cannot believe that it hurts this much. His twin is up next-who knows when. 18 years old-a man and I feel like he is 2 years old again. Never in my wildest did I ever really THINK about them leaving.... :rain:

I need sunshine!!!A nice ride on the motorcycle and it all seems to float away

:eating2: a brownie....eating my pain away...so it feels like

Noodles913 04-01-2004 04:42 PM

For you, LadyOnFire...

What a way to start off April Fools Day...Grumble...

Today is one of those days...I went to get a glass plate out for my sandwich and....SMASH!! All over the floor!! My daughter packed them in there too tight and soon as I pulled one out...SMACK...then...I had to move everything over to clean off the counter and so I moved the dish rack over to other counter and it fell off of the counter and broke the blue spoon holder and glass light bulb protector. Sigh...and because the glass is clear, I couldn't see it all so when I went to trot out of there to get a pair of shoes so I could come back in the kitchen to vacuum up the rest, I cut my foot open and got blood all over..and still got a piece of glass stuck in there somewhere.. What a wonderful day!!!

fluid_fiction 04-01-2004 07:01 PM

hey chickies!!!

it is i, the randomly appearing Shel, once agian back to amuse you with my zany antics. :D

gotta LOVE the manics... ;)

Noodles good gravy, girl...be careful... *hugs* hope you heal up quickly.

Lady - boot camp? what branch? either way, i'm incredibly proud of him. what a brave decision to make... for a long time, joining the military was just a good way to get some money for college... unfortunately, it's now become something much more serious again. i'm so grateful for all of the guys and gals who are willing to make that choice. what a great kid you've got. :)

what else have i missed???

not much new going on here. DBF's brother moved in from Cali... i already adore him, and have been referring to him as my BiL. :p so far so good...

went today for a stress ECG... have to see the cardiologist on Monday, so i can get a cardio clearance, so i can get a full clearance from my regular doctor, so i can get this damned surgery scheduled. i've decided that since i won't have any answers till after the surgery, i'm not going to beat myself up worrying about "what if". i have too many other things that need my energy.

was down 5lbs at my last doctor appt, but that's after being up a LOT before that. *sighs* so i'm starting all over... REALLY wish i had the money to start at Curves, but that $150 to start is just totally out of the question right now....

:spin:

Noodles913 04-02-2004 03:01 AM

LOL Fluid... I think I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I better wake up on the right side tomorrow...I have a big tournament to prepare for!!! :yikes:

Well, I managed to pop the glass out. I got in the shower and turned the water up HOT and squeezed!! Ahhhh..relief!! :D

Gotta get to bed!! Have to get ready for a BIG tournament on Saturday. 10,000 screaming kids = Noodles BRINGS Earplugs this time.

Lady on fire : i feel you the older my kids get i wonder where time goes. seems to me you did a good job raising them. you must be proud thru the worry.

Noodles : sucking bout the foot. i was baking a pork roast in a glass dish one time went to add a little water and the dish exploded in my hand. HOT glass shards everywhere. what a mess.

mauvaisroux 04-02-2004 11:15 AM

:grouphug: for you Ladyonfire...tough to let go.....

:yikes: Noodles hope your day got better!

Fluid...sending goodvibes to you :goodvibes

SeekInnerThinChick 04-02-2004 11:31 AM

Good morning! I'm having to restrain myself forcibly from breaking into full Debbie Reynolds perky mode, and that "good morning" song is in my head. :sunny:

I'm still on a high over hitting the 50 pound milestone, so I'm walking around with a $h!+-eating grin on my face all the time..... :dizzy:

I've got so many good vibes I'm practically radioactive: :goodvibes

Hope everybody's day turns out well! :spin:

Noodles913 04-02-2004 09:17 PM

Ugh...

My day went worse. I didn't get any sleep last night. I started to have severe abdominal cramping/pain...burning...then came the fun stuf of getting dehydrated by losing fluids out of everywhere...:tied: I am still in pain today...I'm Ok if I just lay down...I can bare it. But when I get up and start walking around here it comes!! My liver is not happy either. Got the classical symtpoms from before when it wasn't happy. I DONT need this right now...I am needed at the tournament tomorrow!! I'm waiting for hubby to get back from helping set up for it then I am going to the E/R. This really sucks. I look like the zombie from ****...white face..black under eyes. I bet I could scare ya all. :yikes: Oh and I lost 2 pounds already. I dont mind losing weight but not this way. Hopefully they can give me a shot of something powerful...like those super vitamin shots they give the celebs when they get the sniffles. hehe....

I'll check in later. Too tired to sit here and type.

SeekInnerThinChick 04-02-2004 11:12 PM

Oh Noodles, I'm sorry you're sick. Hang in there, hope you're feeling better tomorrow!

Noodles913 04-03-2004 03:21 AM

I am home. :D

I got a freaking ROCK in my kidney...and I brusied my kidney too...I dunno how one can bruise a kidney but...somehow I did. I was dehydrated and bleah..they gave me an IV and some lovely morophine and a nice anti-nausea drug. Ahhhhhhhhhh.... :cloud9:

blugirrl1 04-03-2004 09:31 AM

Noodles, glad to hear you are home, and hope you mend super fast. but how in thehelll do you bruise a kidney? ( I told you bout them kinky whip games :p )

well the goddess was definately smiling on my house this week. Hubby found work at the other ( better reputation, nice people) shop in town. YEAH!!!!!!!!! so i don't have to give up my kept woman status.

SeekInnerThinChick 04-03-2004 10:37 AM

Hi Everybody!

Blugirrl1: That's terrific! And a big relief, I'm sure. I saw your pictures in the gallery, that's a cute group shot!

Noodles: Angel, I'm so glad you're o.k., and I hope you will actually stay off your feet until you heal-- rest, rest, rest (end lecture). :nono:

Catgirl67 04-03-2004 02:25 PM

I am kind of floating back and forth between here and Atkins, and wanted to say good morning! :coffee: I hope all of you are having a good Saturday. It is really ugly and raining in Houston. We had such a beautiful couple of spring days. I smoked way too many cigarettes last night! I am hacking like you wouldn't believe! I sound like a big baby don't I?

Blugirrl: You were right on about WATP! I got the Get up and get started dvd with a one and two mile walk on the same dvd. I really love it! I will check in later. I do want to start spending more time on this thread. You all seem to be a cool, down to Earth real bunch. I hope you don't mind a real nut hanging around once in a while! ;)

Noodles - Glad you are home, but take it easy!

Heather - Glad your DH found a job! :cb:

Um, the picture below is what I did today :D

Noodles913 04-04-2004 07:15 AM

Well...I was a bad Noodles... But don't crack that whip just yet!! http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/whip2.gif

I got 3 hours sleep and got up at 6:30 AM and went and judged the competition. I wound up being there for 11 hours. No kidding. But it was a good thing cause I was on my feet almost the whole time, walking, walking...and more walking and I flushed out my stone or did something cause it doesn't seem to be bothering me anymore. I'll take it easy today though just to play it safe. :smug:

blugirrl1 04-04-2004 08:30 AM

Noodles, glad you are feeling better. hopefullu the stone just went away. but please try and take it easy for at least one day :p

squeak, thanks i am pretty happy the shop is a better reputation and been around a lot longer so fingers crossed everything works out. hopefully i will be doing today what you did yesterday..:)

squeaker 04-04-2004 11:47 AM

It was the first one I have ever gotten. I like it :)

Irish Tart 04-04-2004 12:01 PM

Sorry about your kidney stone, Noodles. Get well soon.

I just wanted to thank you ladies, who gave me some advice a while ago on my DIL. She and I are starting to build a good relationship! Since I am at her house for nine hours I clean, and do laundry and any thing else that I can do to make her life easier. I have started praying for her every day and I can't believe what a difference it has made for me. I feel a love and respect for her that is growing over time. She talks to me for 20-30 minutes when she comes in from work in the evening. I am getting to know her as a person and we are learning to communicate on a personal level. She is not very demonstrative, but each day I touch her arm or pat her back and she is a lot more relaxed around me now. Thank you for helping me see that sometimes things are not as they appear and that she felt that she had to come on strong with me because she had been having to defend herself from an onslot of critizism from her MIL (my husbands mean ex). Now that she knows that I am not going to put her down and that I am respecting her wishes as the mother of Shawn, we are doing great!! Thanks, again!! :) :)
Have a good week, Chicks! Irish

ellis 04-04-2004 12:02 PM

Cool, Squeak. :smoking: What body part is that? Your bum?

squeaker 04-04-2004 12:54 PM

Irish - I am so glad that things are going well! :grouphug:

Yeah, it's my butt Ellis. ;) Lower right leg. It was a bit painful, but I really love it.

Noodles913 04-04-2004 04:40 PM

That tattoo looks cool!!!!!!!! I want a rat tattoo!! That is going to be my reward when I get down to skinnier days. Stubs on da butt! hahahaha

ellis 04-04-2004 04:56 PM

I get it... that's your foot! Tres cool, darling. :D
BTW, I see you are the penguin champion.

Friggin game. Addicting. Great stress relief tho!!

SeekInnerThinChick 04-04-2004 05:42 PM

Cool tattoo, very "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

squeaker 04-04-2004 08:03 PM

That Penguin game is just too much fun! I love it. :)

Saying thanks for the tattoo seems wrong since I didn't have much to do other then be there. But I have always wanted a yin yang, and the outside ring I found in a Henna book I have.

ellis 04-04-2004 08:48 PM

Well, I appreciate your choice, anyhow. I've seen some pretty tacky tatoos. (the name, Angelina springs to mind...)

SeekInnerThinChick 04-05-2004 11:50 AM

I've put pictures up in the user forum, sort of before and after, or before and "in progress" at least. More work still to do, of course. I tried to put the pictures in Alternachicks, but I couldn't get it to work. So here goes:

Before and After

SoCalBirdLady 04-05-2004 12:06 PM

SeekInnerThinChick-- Your weight loss is inspiring to me...we are of similar age and start weight (yeah, I was 9 lbs heavier but I just got caught up to your start weight!). And you have stuck to it over a year, and you shop in the regular sizes dept now! How awesome! :cp:

I'll post some pix just as soon as I have some "after" photos for comparison. :)

mauvaisroux 04-05-2004 12:27 PM

Glad you are feeling better Noodles, but really you should get some rest. :grouphug:

Glad your DH got another job Heather :cp:

Nice tatoo Squeaker! :D

ellis 04-05-2004 12:40 PM

Wow! You look GREAT!! :hat:

mauvaisroux 04-05-2004 03:52 PM

Yeah, Seekinnerthinchick- you look fabulous - way to go on your loss! :cp:

SeekInnerThinChick 04-05-2004 08:27 PM

Thank you! Full disclosure: the little Canon Powershot we use doesn't have the resolution to show my cellulite, spider veins, loose skin, etc. But maybe that's just as well...

hannah_phi 04-05-2004 09:27 PM

It seems like I haven't dropped by forever! I've been slammed in school. The class I teach is in full gear with three papers due before the end of the semester, so that means 120 papers for me to grade before the end of the semester. :dizzy: I also have my own classes and I just realized that there is only four more weeks of classes for grad students. Our profs always end early to allow us time to attend to our teaching duties, but it also makes our semester shorter. So knowing that all this stuff is on top of me what did I do this weekend? I cleaned my apartment! Four out of seven rooms are now company ready. I've been doing the Flylady thing for a while now, but this weekend I got really inspired. Well anyway, I didn't get a darn thing done on my school responsibilities. Oh, well.

SeekInnerThinChick: What a transformation!

Squeak: that's a really cool tat!

Noodles: I hope you continue to feel well and make sure to drink your water (and make sure it is filtered).

SeekInnerThinChick 04-06-2004 12:28 PM

Thank you Hannah! What's a "tat" as in "that's a really cool tat"-- ? I'm very old-of-the-loop on current slang.

mauvaisroux 04-06-2004 12:39 PM

Tat is short for Tattoo :)

Noodles913 04-06-2004 03:32 PM

Hi Girls...Seems like I'm not the only one with a bad April start huh... Maybe it's that full moon!!

This month has just sucked so far...I still got a stone or 2 or 3...cuts into my vacation. I was going to leave Monday but...that isn't possible now. I'm hoping this rock passes/passed so I can get outta here! I really need to fly the coop for a bit. (Not this coop..my home coop). Too much is going on that is just stressing me out and I don't like/need to be stressed out cause that leads to bummed out which leads to depressed Noodles. Only good thing is I'm at 171 pounds. Feels strange to fit into clothes I haven't worn in 7 years!! :D

Seek: You look marvelous!! Keep going girl!!

Rest of ya... Hi!

:grouphug:

Goddess Jessica 04-06-2004 06:07 PM

Hi girls!

No, Noodles, you were not the only one with a bad beginning of April. On friday, I was flying to San Francisco and there was a "security threat" at my airport. My flight was delayed two hours. My dog POOPED in my car on the way to the dog sitter's and her brother stepped on it and smeared it all over the backseat! ARGH! Then, the cab didn't show to pick me up to go to my flight (luckily, my landlord took me). Then, when I got to SF, they "delayed" my bag (translate to they put it on the wrong flight) and then did not deliver it to my hotel. Then, we get a call from our dog sitter that one of our dogs has dug under the fence and ran away! nooooo! Luckily, much later in the evening, we find out that he's safe. After a lovely conversation with the baggage agent at 11:30PM from my hotel room, she first tells me they were "too busy" (what?!?!) to deliver my bag and then tries to blame it on me. Finally, I refuse to talk to her anymore and ask for her supervisor. Her supervisor promises my bag to be delivered in 2 hours.... but it doesn't shows up until 2:30AM!!!!

Other than the friday, the rest of the trip was wonderful!

Squeak - Great tattoo! Were you planning on getting it? Did it just happen? How did you pick the design? I always wanted to get a tattoo but I'm too ADD to pick one design.

SITC - Wow, great before and after pics. What an inspiration! Whoa baby!

Hannah - Flylady is so cool. I think I'll have to start it again. My boyfriend loves the 15 minutes. He just doesn't like the throwing away stuff. Such a pack rack.

3fcuser1058250 04-06-2004 09:47 PM

Seek -- Great transformation! :high: .....
