HEY!! We have a Gargoyle in the dining room (On the hutch...it is picking its teeth) and I just bought a coffee sign for DH for Christmas! (It is a light box and says "HOT COFFEE" with a mug of steaming coffee on the sign. Fake neon, couldn't afford the real thing! But with this we can go to a sign company and have other signs made to put in the box!!) We have a very "eclectic" look going here!!!

I don't have any gargoyles around, but my house is overrun with faery stuff. DH hates it, but I'm obsessed with faeries -- there is one bisque faery candle holder on each of the 4 glass tables, a faery candy bowl on the dining room table, two faery posters in the baby room, three faery ornaments on her night table, a faery statue my sister brought me back from Scotland on my night table, and a brass faery with wobbly stained glass wings on top of the entertainment center. :-D

I have a bathroom with about 50 penguins in it. I never really collected them...for some bizzare reason people just started giving them to me.
|
HAHAHAHAHA!! WOW! Between us we could REALLY decorate an interesting house!!!
|
Yeah Den, it would be like one of those theme hotels where each room is done differently.
:chin:...let's see, the penguin pool area, the flamingo hot tub area, the Gothic library, the chinese dining room, the faery garden, the morrocan livingroom, the east indian sari inspired bedroom, the french cafe kitchen, the movie theatre rec room, the cocktail lounge....hmmmm....what else? |
I have two rooms in my house that are for office work. One room is done in a Carribean theme, each wall is painted different shades of teal, blues and the ceiling is a semi gloss yellow. I made window valances out of straw placemats and lots of hot glue, the rest of the office is all black.
My other office is a coverted garage, the furniture is all black, with a white slip covered couch, the walls are all a deep rose, the ceiling is dropped, but three different ways, and each side is alternating painted in white or rose and there is a big white ceiling fan. At night I have track lighting in there so it looks more like a make out room than an office, I am more conservative in my decorating, except I am a color wh**e, if thre is a wall, there is coloron it...living room is buttercup walls, blue, green and redwood decor, all harwood floors in my house... Kitchen is white color whipped cream and everything else is lemon, with this tall custom pub table that sits below a high window in the nook area. Bedroom is sage green and bathroom all different shades of violet.....but oddly enough it all works....I was afraid it would look like Walt Disney threw up. I do collect dolphins, ever since I was a kid. They are all over the house, in every room, even a tattoo on my ankle.... |
My bathroom is black, grey and white. The shower curtain (black) is hung by hooks that have old fashioned "hot" and "cold" porcelain bits on them. i just got 2 old hot and cold faucet turners set on wood pieces that will go up on either side of the window and hold the "scarf" made of black netting. Lots of chrome in there too. i bought hanging baskets (like you usually use in the kitchen) and similar things for extra wash cloths and all our toiletries (There is no medicine cabinet or storage of any kind built in. I had to do something!) It actually looks pretty cool when it is CLEAN (rarely!!)

My kids rooms are decorated pretty wild too...Raiden's is castle themed-the top foot of the wall is light blue with clouds painted on it, and the rest is grey with lighter grey "stones" painted on it. Where the castle wall and the "sky" meet I painted the top of the castle wall-and would you believe I used a cardboard square from the back of a Post-It notepad as a pattern for making the
_i-i_i-i_i-i_ i-i_i-i_i-i_ on the top of the castle wall? (Sorry for the bad graphic, this was as close as my computer keypad would let me "draw" it....hee hee hee He has a castle flag on the wall, and I found some old Home Interior brand wall plaques that were "crests" as well as some larger ones that had swords, chest armor, bows and arrows, and such like that on them-except they were brown-a couple of coats of gold spray paint and they look awesome. his rug and comforter are Pottery Barn with red and ivory checkerboard, and a regal purple border...and his pillowcase has little kings, queens, and such on them. I even found and ivory and red toybox to match...what a spoiled kid. Jasmine's room is bright yellow with baby blue and baby green stars stenciled here and there...her furniture is white, and her wall border has the moons and stars in the matching colors...actually, I bought the border and took it to the hardware store to match the yellow, green, and blue paints to it...I made her curtains out of the old pillow/mattress ticking material...the blue ticking stripe stuff like old country feather beds used to be made out of. They are tab topped curtains, except I used bib overall fasteners on them instead of buttons...I saw curtains like that in the Pottery Barn catalog, and I refused to pay the price, so I made them instead. WOW!! Sounds like your kids have GREAT rooms!!

We are all so darn creative...we could all be designers on Trading Spaces!!!!

EEEP! I broke my own rule of no sandal wearing after September!
It was so hot here the last few days that I had wear summer clothes yesterday! :lo: |
Same here!!! After almost a week in the 40s and 50s (30s at night!) the last few days have been in the 80s!!! BUMMER!!!
|
I follow none of the "Miss Manners" fashion rules...so don't feel bad....what if you live in Hawaii? You can't wear sandals or white pants in September? Those rules are meant to be broken. I DO however have a certain set of rules that I adhere to...never wear all white to a wedding unless you are a mother of the bride or a flower girl (it is meant for the bride that day)...never wear a sexy red dress to a funeral (especially if you are the widow! ha ha ha)...more of common sense/sending the wrong message types of rules rather than seasonal issues...
Aphil edit:edited myself for all of my typos....was I on crack this morning? geesh |
Aphil... you're too funny.
|
I must confess that I wear my birkenstocks for as long as humanly possible...sometimes with socks...even tho there was a time in my life where I mocked people who wore birkenstocks with socks...
and I wear my clogs when I can't wear my birkenstocks...even if a little snow slips in the back and I have to shake it out...and now that "slides" are in style I have a big collection of cloggy like shoes...I love them, clog sneakers, clog shoes, clog everything...even with a different name...I know that they're really clogs... love, soozie...hopeless fashion victim... |
