September Challenge
Anyone up for a new challenge...
I was at 183 this morning... I would like to lose an average of one pound per week between now and September 1st, well, that would be eight pounds but I'll even shoot for ten pounds... That will be very challenging but, I would really like to accomplish it. That would bring me to 173 or 175. I'm going to have a reduction mammoplasty sometime in September so I'd like to be as fit as possible before that. Okay girls...inspire me and join me! how I'll get there. 1. eat less in general 2. plan meals with my partner so we'll all eat healthier 3. pack food to take to work so I don't eat junk that people bring into the office 4. exercise 4 times per week with at least 30 minutes of cardio 3Xs per week 5. do a mix of yoga, strength training and cardio 6. eat more veggies and lean protein 7. avoid simple carbs for complex grainy carbs 8. eat fish at least once a week like Mauvais! 9. eat small meals often during the day so I don't ever get starved and binge-y 10. drink plenty of water are you in??? let's do it!!! Soozie:cp: :grouphug:  |
cheater =) youll come back with perky boobs and 5lbs off the scale as a result..
I demand a recount! *ok i made myself laugh, pretty pathetic arent I hahahaha* PS: can I come? mine hang to my knees. |
I know....I can't wait!!! Easiest weight loss ever....ummm...well, not really.
I keep inviting girls who need donations because I could fill a number of swimsuits with what's going bye-bye! But, sure, come along! Maybe we'll get a 3fc discount! |
Soozie - I know how excited you must be to get rid of that extra weight. Hubby and I have looked a bit into breast reduction for myself and I am seriously considering it - given I can get down to a good weight and stay there for a while. I've got the back aches, shoulder dents, saggin to the floor thing goin on. *L*
I'm curious where you got all your information or if you researched it at all before deciding to do it... Good luck to you with yours! I am sure you will be feeling so much better. |
I would like to be below 160 by Sept. 13th. That would be about 10 lbs. I have a good friend's wedding to go to.
|
I am currently doing the summer challenge whic for me ends on July 18th - I am 1 lb away from my mini-goal of 10lbs loss.
I would like to join you on the September challenge too. I will start that one on July 18th and work towards another 10 lbs lost by September 1st :) |
Count me in too!!! 10 pounds lost by September 1st. Hope I can manage it, because the weight loss is going to slow down once i start phase 2 of the South Beach diet.
|
Ok ok ok...
Chickies... I am not doing so well with the weight loss as of late. I think I've gained a pound (or two... gasp). :o I'm thinking there is a direct correlation to my weight loss and my participation here. And since I haven't been spending a whole lot of time online this last month I have been eating like an alternapiggy. :ink: Sooooo... I'm in on the September challenge and I WILL be spending quality time with you crazy women this summer... promise. :D I'll start over with my one pound a week goal... fresh start tomorrow. Now I'm going to go eat the candy bar (Heath Bar) that my evil dh just bought home from the store.
|
Hey Chickies,
glad that you're joining in...and Mauvais...congrats on doing so well with the summer challenge...you'll be our role model...;) lizziness...I did do research but mostly by speaking with women who had reductions...and then met with the doc for a consult and learned more speaking with him. Talked alot to women who had the procedure. They all said that they were really happy that they went for it and were pleased with the results. Love, Soozie What day of the week should we weigh-in and should we post that here in this thread? Any suggestions girls? |
I'm in! My goal for Sept 1 is to be in the 180's. That's ten pounds and I'm determined to do it this time. Den, I'll be pulling for you as we hit the next Phase.
|
Hey Girls,
i saw that we have the weekly weigh-in thread and it looks like folks post in there on Mondays...should we post our challenge progress there or here? It is difficult with all of the threads...tho exciting too...remember when alternachicks was just a thread? |
BOTH!! I weigh on Sundays, and would like to keep up on the challenge here since they are related but not identical things.
I HAVE LOST 5 POUNDS ON THIS CHALLENGE!!! (Good thing you started it when I was half of the way through week 2/phase 1 is all I can say!!!) |

ELLIS!! YOU are average height!!! Everyone else here is SHORT or TALL!!!!
|
Wow!
Holy crap Ellis... you are doing so well! Are you still doing that south beach diet? Could you post the link again? I need some new inspiration and ideas.
:D |
I need a challenge
Okay I am in starting from July 10th to September 1st my goal is to lose 20 lbs. I have laid out 4 week goals for excercise in my journal and will lay out food plans as I make them. Hubby and I are pow wowing on the subject tommorow.:dizzy:
Height: 5'8" Highest Weight: 265 Current Weight: 199 September Goal Weight: 179 Long Term Goal: 129 Personal goals: -To finally pass that stupid WWT test in August -To finish all the books in my stack (+the 2 I just ordered) Miss Chris:cool: |
Chris, I had no idea you were so tall! :D
I'm merely average, according to Den. heh heh. Thank you, Sojo! Yes, this is a great diet. Ruth and Den are doing really well, too! Okay, the prevention link is ummm... http://www.prevention.com/cda/featur...0,5345,00.html Prevention has a South Beach forum as well. And there's one here at 3fatchicks that is getting bigger by the day. It's around here somewhere: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/foru...s=&forumid=110 |
Thanks Ellis,
I'll check that out too. and girls... thanks for joining in with the challenge! Everyone have a great on program day. Love, Soozie ps..last night I really wanted to EAT! I really, really felt like snacking but I knew that I had eaten enough that day and that I didn't need anymore nutritionally... It was sooooo hard, but I did it! I had a cup of decaf coffee with a bit of skim milk in it and sipped and savored that instead of eating cookies...happy dance!! Yay!!! :cb: :cp:  |
Soozie... good for you!!!
Coffee... it makes up for a lot. |
Ellis-There, there, dearie, you're tall to ME.:P
Soozie-GOOD GOING!!! THANKS for starting this challenge. Seems like we are getting some real enthusiasm going here!! Chris-YUP! Gotta get the DH on board or it is pretty difficult. Mine wanted to bring home a cheesecake the other day, and I asked him to get something that wouldn't tempt me so much. (He bought pastries, which he loves and I have no problem with. He is skinny, so I don't really want to tell him he can't have any of his "stuff." HE loses weight when I go on a diet, it is REALLY frustrating!!!) |
Miss Chris! When did you hit onederland! Congrats!
|
Soozie your my hero
If I want something its hard to resist.
They must breed us mid-western girls big, because 5'8" is pretty average. I always wish I was taller. Hence why I love high heels, but have pretty much given them up since I started walking everywhere, there just aren't enough blister pads in the world:p Bless your husband Den for being supportive. My hubby was a reall *** during our pow wow, next time maybe I will skip the talk and dump his ice cream straight down the drain:devil: The sad thing Jessica is that I had gotten down to 185 lbs, and managed in about 6 weeks to gain 15 lbs back. I suck:( Here I go though and get out of my weigh;) Miss Chris:cool: |
You do not suck...
you're just having a temporary set back... okay? I resisted eating snacks again tonight...can't believe it...was really contemplating eating and then, just said, nope, not gonna do it...it's too late and I'll regret it and I'm not doing it...and, guess what? It worked. just distracted myself with other stuff thinking, this urge will pass and it did... well, thanks for the kudos...I'm kind of amazed myself...there were just two moments of self-control, in a whole adult life time...but hey, it's a start. Miss Chris you had it, not that long ago and it is attainable...the one's. talk to you soon ladies... gotta go get some rest before the sun comes up. Love Soozie |
Den, good for you! I'm glad that DH is supporting you. (by buying pastries. heh heh) Give him a pat on the head from me.
Chris, get your husband in here and we'll have a little "chat" with him. We are wonderful women, and we deserve to be supported in our endeavors. Particularly when they involve our HEALTH! (not to mention the look of our butts) We love you, Chris... hang in there... :grouphug: |
No damned way, Chris sucks! She is tough and strong.
Let's invite that man of hers into this part of the coop and straighten him out, so to speak! |
He is just happy I have this place to.....
b*tch about my fattitude;)
Between Ms. Raven pointing out the only person Chris can control is Chris. We have come to an agreement. I will cook all the meals for the next 30 days, healthy meals, making enough there is leftovers for him. He will keep his crappy food out of my face, and I swear if I find his chocolate stash I will do a Lidian. It will get the dishsoap and garbage treatment. Where has she been anyway:?: I am awesome. I am strong! I am so pumped about this challenge! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO! Workout is done and I feel the powersurge. LETS GO LADIES:D Miss Chris:cool: |
You go Chris girl!!!!
Yeah Baybee!! My partner has been a pain in the ... with buying junk food too... however, I chewed her out...ummm, pardon the pun and she seems to be repenting... yesterday she brought home; Special K, fresh strawberries, cantaloupe, apples, and no junk food! (that will last for a day or two then I'll have to remind her again!) My trainer said that she would call DP for me and have a little talk with her...I think that I'll take her up on it. DP always tells me, well, you don't have to eat it, and I always say...it's not that easy! DP uses our DD as an excuse to bring junk food into the house but I say...there are lots of snacks that DD likes that don't tempt me at all! Like those gross fruit by the foot things and poptarts with psychodelic icing...ugh!!!...and when I buy snacks for the little one I buy the individually packed ones instead of a big bag...easier to control...even if I break down and open one there is automatic portion control... enough of my rambling. Love you girls...I snuck onto the scale today and as of today I'm down but I won't say by how much cause I don't want to jinx myself before Monday weigh-in...have to get through the weekend first. Soozie |
:chin: I sometimes wonder if we had never had junkfood as kids would we be so addicted to it now?
For example...we were not a family that had dessert at every meal. This was reserved for special occasions. My mom did occasionally bake cookies or brownies as a treat. As an adult I never serve dessert after dinner unless it is a special occasion or we are having a dinner party with other people. I don't crave sweets often either:shrug: and don't eat candy or chocolate often. My downfall however is chips  - something I have taken several years to conquer and I just recently found out that it is my mom's addiction too and she buys a big bag with her groceries every week. Guess the apple does't fall far from the tree after all  Soozie-maybe you could explain to your DP that this isn't just a diet for you to lose the weight...that you want to be healthy to be around for her and your daughter and that instead of bringing home junk for DD that you both should be good examples so that she will grow up healthy too. |
Mauvais, I have a whole thing about kids and junk food but I'll not ramble on about it now...however, there is a great episode of that PBS show that Alan Alda hosts, I think its called scientific america where they show a research study with kids and food and overeating, it illustrates my philosophy perfectly and its great...if anyone ever gets a chance to check it out, do!
Well, just really posting here today to remind everyone to check in tomorrow with their progress for the week. I'll see you then. Hope you all had a good week and weekend! Love, Soozie |
Hey ho! I've lost the 3 1/2 pounds I gained last week.
I'm really hungry. I think I'm tired. I did a TON of stuff yesterday. I think I'd better have a nap. It's 9:45 AM. :D |
Yay!!!
starting weight 183 weight today 180.5 down 2.5 pounds!!! yahoo!! :cp: (congrats Ellis honey!!!) Love, Soozie |
Whooo hoooo, Soozie!!! :cb:
