Good for you, Mauvais!! :cb:

Merrylegs 07-21-2003 01:25 PM

Good for you Mauvais!:cp:

Ellis - were you born in England? I was born in London, came to Canada at age 5. One thing about us brits - we have plenty of euphamisms for "the loo".:)

soozie 07-21-2003 03:45 PM

Hi girls,
quick pit stop before heading to the beach...my DP and DD left yesterday and DP will be home in a few minutes to pick me up to join them...I had lots of work to finish up. But the good news is...I'm here for weighin
starting weight 183
last week 180.5
this week 179 !!!!!

yahoo!!! total loss so far 4 pounds...
6 more pounds to go and 6 more weeks to go!
I can do it! (so can you...well, except for Lidian's wish for 15 pounds by next week...that is, unless you want to remove a body part Lidian...I mean, who needs two kidneys and have you had your appendix and gall bladder removed...then there's always liposuction...gotta go pack quickly!! )
love you girls,
Soozie

ellis 07-21-2003 05:11 PM

Yes, Karen... we moved here when I was two. Needless to say I don't have many memories of my birthplace. ;)

dentrassi 07-21-2003 08:52 PM

YAY SOOZIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PainterWoman 07-22-2003 02:03 AM

I am up for the toffee challenge mentioned a while back. I did, however, fail the leftover Pepperidge Farm Cookie challenge. Yum. Burp. Back on wagon... and besides the company that cme Saturday ate most of them!

Lidian: Re library/lavatory confusion -- my father always said he was going to "the library" whenever he was going to be a particularly long time in the bathroom. I'm sorry you didn't hear the librarian's comment directly, too... because as a former librarian, I can promise you that we always enjoyed someone who would laugh like a wild hyena!!!

rochemist 07-22-2003 09:33 AM

I am on the wagon

Excercising, watching my food. Who knows if I will lose any weight, once I start to really move I tend to creep up instead of go down. The upside I feel great.

I have considered organ donation before to lose pounds. But all that recovery time, who has time for it?

My dad use to always say he was going to visit Mrs. Murphy. I still don't know what it means except he is going to be in the bathroom A LONG TIME!

Miss Chris:lol:

Lidian 07-22-2003 11:50 AM

Hahahaha! You girls are so funny, you put a big smile on my face on this rainy day cooped up with 2 slightly (slightly?) bored young ladies (& two insolent cats)...

My family did not have any special washroom euphemisms but my great aunt had pink and silver poodles-in-Paris wallpaper in her washroom, which I thought was fabulous when I was a kid. And a loo-shaped ashtray on top of the toilet which read 'rest your tired ash', which I was mystified by until much older...

In E.F. Benson's "Mapp and Lucia" books, one of the characters calls coloring his hair "being busy indoors", which could also be a good euphemism for washroom activity I guess!

Children of course are totally direct, aren't they? No puches pulled. The urgent whisper to mom, the indoor busyness to follow...

Lidian :)

soozie 07-28-2003 11:04 AM

can't complain about that
don't have time to get caught up on my reading here

I'm not discouraged...going to the gym today

after a week away from strength training should have
taken it a bit easier...today I'll do cardio and then come home
and do a hour of lovely, yummy, yoga...ahhhhh....ommmmm
Nice to be back girlies.
Talk to you later.
Soozie

dentrassi 07-28-2003 02:32 PM

HI SOOZIE!! It is GREAT to stay the same on vacation!!! I have stalled a bit, so I went back on phase 1 of South Beach Diet. I have 4 pounds to go to reach my September goal.

soozie 07-28-2003 10:23 PM

Yay DenDen...you're so close...you'll get there girl.
Hey, where are the rest of you girlies?
Love, Soozie

ellis 07-29-2003 09:08 AM

Welcome back, Soozie! How was your holiday! Tell us all...

I can't remember what my goal is. Again. Hang on...
Ah... found it. Apparently I'm to weigh 169 by September 1st. Right now I'm at 177. Still.
This week will be good... I'm back on Phase I of South Beach, and I'm going to lose 3 pounds. That's all there is to it.

Lidian, that wallpaper... I love it! I have a strange fascination with shiny objects. We once had a neighbour with a beautiful gold couch cushion. Oh, did I covet THAT!

Love and hugs to all! :grouphug:

dentrassi 07-29-2003 12:35 PM

I SURE HOPE SO SOOZIE!!!!!

ilovemyluckycat 07-29-2003 10:01 PM

I'm going to jump in too

Hi!

I love these challenges. We just have to remember to report in at the end.

I want to wear this Turquoise dress I have on the 1st day of school (Sept. 3) (I am a teacher). It's tight now. So to do this I will need to drop 5-8 pounds and get my muscle tone back and tight.

Good luck to all!!!!!!

Sandi

170/148/140-143: Sept. goal/120: final goal

Trixi 07-30-2003 09:16 AM

I hope I am not to late to get into the challange. I am returning to the clinic tomorrow to restart my program again. I am now at 180 and would like to lose 50 pounds. Not sure how long it will take but I am going to take it one day at a time.

ellis 07-30-2003 10:47 AM

Hey Trixi... it's never too late. Jump right in!
We've all got a personal mini goal for September 1st. Mine is to lose 10 pounds. Then I'll have another 30 to go.
Just go at your own pace, but let us know what you're aiming for so that we can ***** at you. ;)

mauvaisroux 07-30-2003 12:33 PM

I have lost 9 lbs so far and hope to be down another 6 by September 1st!

I have to get back on track with regard to my exercise routine - I tried to do some Pilates in the mornings while and holiday and I did do a lot of walking which helped- it is so hard to get back to normal after you have been away for a week! :stress: I have to go grocery shopping this weekend too as there is almost nothing in my fridge :p

ellis 07-30-2003 03:02 PM

Hey Mauvais... did you tell us how your trip was? Did I miss the post?

squeaker 07-30-2003 03:31 PM

Congrats on the challenge so far chicks! :cb: :bravo:

mauvaisroux 07-30-2003 04:25 PM

Yes, I did Ellis. I posted in the Alternachick daily chat thread :dz:

ellis 07-30-2003 05:11 PM

ah yes... I saw it. :) Rubbing shoulders with the elite, huh? Sounds like you had a GREAT time!

Lidian 07-30-2003 09:26 PM

I am so glad you had a great time Mauvais! And you met TWO LOTR guys - that is terrific! I thought we were lucky to hear an interview with Orlando Bloom, my man Legolas, in England on the radio - only it was about the pirate movie and it was hard to convince DH that it was in fact Legolas (I was right of course!). The girls were thrilled as they LOVE Legolas (and so do I).

Isn't it tiresome to come back to that empty fridge? That was the last thing I felt like doing after we got home, after 2 weeks of MIL worrying about meals (and boy does she ever worry, because she really does cook, unlike DH & me, Queen of the Freezer and Lord of the Cans).

Lidian:)

soozie 07-30-2003 10:15 PM

Hey Ellis,
Hi, I'll post about vaca in the chat thread...still haven't gone food shopping...but, I'm hanging in there with what was left here from before vaca. DP bought milk and fruit. I'm still doing well with my food and with not eating at night. I get weighed alot though...not too healthy for the mind but keeps me feeling good...like an instant reward to see that I am in the 170's and no longer in the 180's...every time I see it it spurs me on.

Love, Soozie

Sojourner 07-31-2003 12:30 AM

South Beach

Well, I've started the South Beach diet today... not sure what to think. It really sucks not eating carbs for the next two weeks. But it wasn't quite as bad as I thought it was going to be today, but I was expecting to be completely miserable. I better lose a lot of weight on this miserable thing. How much weight have you SB chicas lost so far and in what amount of time?? :?:

ellis 07-31-2003 07:21 AM

SOJO!! You miserable girl, you!!

We LOVE the SBD! Ruth and Den have lost on it, too. I've lost 15 pounds so far. I lost 5 within the first two weeks, 6 the following two weeks, and 2 pounds a week after that.
I'm back on Phase I just for a week... I've been getting off-track and cheating a wee bit, and am stalled with the losing.

A lot of people have a wicked headache for about two days... it's your body getting off sugar. Most people agree on this being so much better than Atkins. It's healthy! You'll really notice a difference once you've detoxed. I'm very sensitive to sweet things now. I still LIKE them, but man... are they sweet!!

I'm eating WAY more veg than I used to.
And to my surprise, I really don't miss bread/pasta/etc at all! (except for yesterday... see: french stick and pound of butter... some sort of a manic thing)

I hope you like it, hon!

Ruthxxx 07-31-2003 07:48 AM

Hey, Sojo - you CAN have good carbs. Kidney and black beans are allowed as are chick peas. Check out the forum under Low Carb Lifestyles.

Ellis and Den are doing well. I lost 8 pounds and kind of went off track but am back now. It works! And no frassing counting of carbs, fiber, calories, fat, etc. Freedom at last!

mauvaisroux 07-31-2003 09:12 AM

Wow! You SB chicks are all doing great! :bravo: keep up the good work!

Sojourner 07-31-2003 02:37 PM

Haha....

Well, I'll quit my b:censored:tching now, because this morning I am already down two whole pounds after a day and a half on this South Beach thingy. Which means.... I have finally lost TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS!!! :cb: I have actually broken my three-month plateau. I can do this for two weeks, right? :crossed:

Here it is, oficially:

198/173/130 !!!

Whoo hoo!!

squeaker 07-31-2003 03:18 PM

:bravo: Congrats Sojo!!!!!! :cb:

mauvaisroux 07-31-2003 06:31 PM

Congrats Sojo :cp:

ellis 07-31-2003 06:44 PM

Good for you, sweetie!! :hat:

Trixi 08-01-2003 05:53 PM

I went the the clinic both yesterday and today. I weighed in and got my juice (injection) had my blood taken and was given the dont quit this time or you'll have to pay lecture. I have done great so far I was only a little hungry between what they call meals and I call BORING but I feel better anyway. I keep telling myself if I dont get to eat what I want its not going to kill me. I think I will be able to reach my goal (stay on the diet this time) as long as I remain focused.

Sojo that's amazing!!! you must be so proud of yourself :)

dentrassi 08-02-2003 12:28 PM

I weighed in early, and I have lost another 2 pounds!!! That makes 8 for the September challenge, and 13 total!!!

ellis 08-02-2003 01:57 PM

Keep it up, Trixi... you're doing great! :cb:

Den, it's a miracle. A honkin' miracle. I am SO proud of you (in which case, I suppose miracles don't come into it)!! Imagine... your body has 13 pounds less to have to carry around! I bet it's feeling good! (and surprised! heh heh)
Keep it up, hon!!

mauvaisroux 08-02-2003 05:17 PM

Way to go Trixi, Sojo and Den! :cp:

dentrassi 08-02-2003 07:57 PM

AMAZING!!!! Today I had to fasten my bra the next set of hooks in!!!!

squeaker 08-03-2003 11:29 AM

Congrats Den! :cb:

Trixi 08-03-2003 11:32 AM

Man I can't wait to do that. Right now I am wearing bra's that my mother bought for herself and didn't fit her and it sucks. I refuse to buy new ones until I can fit into the right size I want and these ones are in pretty bad shape so hopefully It won't be to long now cause or else my girls will be saying hi by popping out the bottom of my shirt!

dentrassi 08-03-2003 12:45 PM

Trixi-My bras are rotten too!! Just one hook tighter. Hope they are too big soon so I can get new ones!!! Not much support left in most of the ones I have now!!!

Squeak-Thanks sweetie!! Glad you had fun at the party yesterday. We are going to a friend's house for dinner tonight, but she is grilling kabobs, so I should be okay!!!

Lidian 08-03-2003 01:15 PM

Sojo, Den, Trixi - congrats! You are all amazing!

Lidian
