I bought a new scale yesterday. Trying scales out at the store was embarrassing! Chris knows I am overweight, but seeing the numbers in front of him is awful. But we wanted to make sure we picked a scale that said the same numbers over and over. Well, I knew I would weigh more in clothes and after lunch than at home naked first thing...but how much more. O YUCK! I was 189 in the moring and 206 at the store. At home naked, the old scale still said 190, new one 204.5. This morning, the old one said 189, new 199. So I spent 50$ on a new scale and gained 10 pounds. Well, that about sucks!!!! Guess my Easter challenge is undoable for getting under 180! I will not allow this to ruin my progress!
oh flower. it's such a pain!!!! i've been known to weigh myself on every blessed [and that's not the word i REALLY want to use] scale in the gym withing 30 minutes, and found that NONE of them agreed... they were within 4 pounds, but that was it. and then, to continue the experiment, i tried a couple of other scales [my sister's, and two doc offices the same day - it was one of THOSE days], and one of the doc office scales was 4 pounds higher than the highest scale at the gym!!!!
i have no idea why this happens. i don'[t understand it for a second, but that's the way it is.
I know your pain honey... I purchased a new scale (fancy weight/body fat scale) a couple years ago and "gained" about eight pounds. The only positive is that this scale gives the same readings as the WW scales and the doctor's scales, so at least its as accurate as can be. The main thing is you have a consistent measurement of your progress. The numbers really don't mean anything (she keeps repeating to herself...)
I agree with Lamorgan........scales are evil!!! Do you have any other scale other than your home scale to compare the new one to? Maybe the new one is out of wack?! there's always hope
I used to use the grain scale in the living room. John is a scale technician and found it in a field and restored it. (It's our coffee table) I would clear it off each week and sit cross-legged on it. It can weigh upwards of 3000 lbs!!!
I bought new scale about 4 weeks ago and it was the same thing, I knew mine was weighing light but not 6 pounds light. It was a rude awakening when I realized I was back up over 170 pounds
Well, Chris tried all the scales out on our shopping adventure and he weighed 13 pounds less on our old scale, so unfortunately, the new one is right. But as long as the numbers go down and my muscles are appearing...I will survive this heart ache!
No matter what you weigh, flower, you are still beautiful,
that mean scale can't take that away from you.
Will you please start a thread for us to post to for our free weight
challange?. I am going to make myself get started this afternoon.
One day I was 154 and the next day 152. Now I didn't miraculously burn off 7000 calories in 24 hours! I know how my clothing fits and that is what pumps me up!
But I dod still havescale goals, so I am somewhat guilty of the madness.
My cousins scale says 142 pounds, the Y scale says 151.5 now I know the truth, but it is fun to lok at the lower weight.
