Angry Resolutions

Every year I vow to lose weight, eat healthier, and exercise but somehow after about six weeks I am back to my old ways. The only two New Year's resolutions that I was very successful at were the last couple of years, where I promised to drink MORE alcohol in the upcoming year and also develop more female friendships.

I will have to think about resolutions for 2003.

Ruth!

Hey, what happened to that beautiful photo of... was it Lucy or Hershey? Were you afraid you were going to find her on a porn site with a delectable body?

Resolutions...I almost hesitate to make any, cuz I always seem to break 'em in pretty short order...but here goes...

Before the "lose weight" one, I think I will place the "get organized" one. I have been following Flylady too, and I find that the change in my attitude towards keeping my home has improved 100%, which tranlates into improved self esteem, which contributes to...you got it! Self improvement! And weight loss is #1 on that list. When I feel good in my surroundings, I feel good about myself...and vice versa...I think I am rambling at this point, but somehow it makes sense to me, so I'll just keep on flying...imagine how much higher I'll go when I drop some of this weight! Owww...my poor little wings!

I have made a long list of my resolutions, but here are a few of them:

~Lose Weight
~Do one of my Tai Chi tapes once a week
~Bring Lunch to work at least 4 times a week, and eat it when I do bring it
~Keep in touch with people better
~Read at least one book a month
~Keep my house clean
~Pay off credit cards
~Go out and do something fun at least once a month
~Get a physical

There are about another 20, mostly small things just to keep me organized, and together.

Oh - and I like the more sex one that a few of you mentioned, but I have a snowball's chance in **** for that one.

Nonsense, Squeak! What kind of attitude is that? I see sex in 2003 for you.

Yup, Ellis. I was getting worried about her beautiful body on the net. There are other folks into inter-specied dating, you know.

NY's Resolution -
- find an avatar that is graphically potent, is of a Portie and meets with Ellis' approval.

- also, do more sewing. I have yards and yards of glorious expensive fabrics! Think heavy turquoise silk!

- keep in touch with my real life friends.

- keep out of local politics, no matter what!

- use my spa certificates wisely and keep going at least once a month

More later

sniff. Ruth would rather spend time with her "real life friends" than with us. sniff.

Hey, me too on the sewing!! I'm going to make this gorgeous table cloth. The under layer will be green and will reach to the floor. The over layer will be "backed". The top will "fit" the top of the table, and will have long "points" reaching down almost to the floor. Red.
And I'll have a guillotine standing in the corner of the room for anyone who dares to spill anything on it.

Ellis that was too funny. I actually sat here and laughed out loud...a computer first for me. And Ruth...interspecies dating...you two are really...uh...really...ummmm...warped. Yeah, that's the word, warped.

My ambitious resolutions for 2003

***continue to lose weight***
***continue to exercise, go to gym at least 3X per week***
***actually use the yoga dvd that I bought last month***
***eat healthy, thoughtfully, keep caloric intake reasonable***
***eat a vegetarian diet (started that a few months ago, mostly for health but
also, lately grossed out by eating flesh...still eating dairy, eggs, fish)***
***work 20 clinical hours per week, and GET PAID, ie. don't take any more sliding
fee patients (I have more than anyone else in the practice)***
***keep up with paper work and telephone calls from work***
***generate enough referrals to feed practices of newer clinicians and become
more of an asset to the practice...ie. be a rainmaker
***pay off credit card debt***
***have more sex...yeah, girls, I like that one too***
***spend quality down time with my partner and daughter***
***see my dad at least once a week***
***finish my started "projects", quilt for our bedroom, scrap book for DD's
godmother who took us to Florida, scrapbook for ourselves of trip to Florida,
scrapbook of Dad's mementos from WWII, prayer shawl for my dear friend
Joyce in honor of her retirement, and that darn table I started refinishing
when we were getting the kitchen refinished***
***keep the house organized and clean***
***post pictures of my kitchen on web for you girls to finally see!***
***work on getting domestic partner benefits through DP's union at work***
***look into info about getting a PhD***
***lose 9 more pounds by my birthday to leave the 170's and
break into the 160's***
***get DD to bed by 9pm the latest on school nights***
***get enough sleep myself so I'm not semi-comatose in the morning***

ummm...I think that is enough for now....onto my five year plan!

I won't financially support the evil vending machine at work ever again (the diet Coke one, maybe but the one with chocolate bars will never again get a quarter, loonie, or toonie from me!).

In addition to my fitness resolutions & writing resolutions I resolve to get on with the craft projects I go on & on about to the excitement of the girls (when they are listening) & the cynical eyebrow-lifting of the DH (after which I pounce grumpily whining "don't you BELIEVE me!") -- I will conquer my sewing-machine & knitting-needle anxiety. And finish up the 7000 half-baked afghans lying around the house.

I will use ALL the yarn I have collected in bags & bags. Well, SOME of it. Yeah, I will! It's New Year's Day and I can dream, can't I?

Don't count on it, Ellis. My oldest project is a baby blanket from before my DD was born - she's now in 3rd year university. How's that for procrastination?

Thank you Lidian and Merrylegs for sharing the pathology...and Lidian, ah yes the dream.
Okay, I ate meatballs for dinner...well, come on, they don't look anything like a cow...oy vay...a friend invited us for a casual buffet dinner...I started with a salad and chickpeas but those darn meatballs kept calling my name. Then I ate a donut for dessert! It tasted just like the twenty donuts I ate during the nine days that the guys were here remodeling my kitchen.

Remember those donuts, the ones I had to buy for the work crew because I'm a nice, sweet, kind, homemaker and hostess...so, okay, yeah, I know, I kicked the one guy in the nuts when he tried to reach for the last cream filled...I mean who paid for the friggin things anyway. I mean, am I right? Hospitality is one thing but he didn't have to grub up the last one. Geez Louise. Men. No manners at all.

Okay, tomorrow I'll get back on program. Probably won't have time for the gym but I'll do my crunches and get some walking or dancing in...depending on the weather.

Love, Soozie

Merrylegs...

I thought of a resolution last night... what the heck was it...
OH! Taking my contact lenses out at night!
