Question

Mauvaisroux: I don't see you over on the SBD boards anymore. Are you still doing WW combined with SBD?

I'm thinking this may be the best choice for me. How did it go for you?

Welcome jessica and martinlady!

I actually started "alternachicks" as a thread to meet people with similar interests as me when I first joined 3fc in 2002. There were a lot of nice people on the site but I found I didn't really find a group that I felt completely comfortable with and wanted to meet some fellow "freaks and geeks" like myself who were trying to lose weight.

The thread somehow blossomed into a forum and here we are!

The criteria for being an alternachick is pretty loose . . . I think it is pretty much people who are interested in books, art, movies, tattoos, music, sci-fi, gaming, bellydancing . . .you name it - pretty much people who like to express themselves and have fun with it.

-waves- Hey martinlady, yay, new people!

The weird mouth illness has cleared! -cheers- I can fully chew, swallow, and hug all kinds of dancing crunchy foods!

My TOM is coming, but at least I can lay in my room and work on my book without feeling stressed out; I had to get my mother to help me clean, how sad is that?!

jandaman- Sorry to hear about your gain! But hey, you've already won by not giving up! -feels like a goth female Richard Simmons but less creepy-

mauvaisroux- And I love you everyday for starting this forum; otherwise, I'd just feel out of the loop.

Gymrat - I forgot to answer your question . . . I haven't posted in SBD forever - They left my menus up for anyone who is interested in the idea of combining both programs. I did lose another 10 lbs on the SBD/WW plan but now I am focusing on maintaining, eating a wholefoods diet and exercising so I am not following a specific plan - although I do use some of the SBD recipes and WW recipes regularly.

Janda and Gaia - glad you are feeling better!

I have been roped into (possibly) going to a Metal Festival by DH and some friends in June. It will involve a short road trip, 10 hours of heavy metal music by various bands, possibly some clubbing afterwards - should be fun!

mauvaisroux- Wish I had a husband who "roped" me into a heavy metal road trip! It sounds awesome! Have fun, avoid McDonald's and all drive-thrus.

Hello! I think I must be one of the most sporadic posters ever I've been doing really rubbish at healthy eating and drinking and this weekend is a good friend's bday bash, so I'm going to end up drinking quite a bit, but on the good side, I've just joined a gym! So I'm definitely back on track for may

I've also just got my new hair dyes in the post so I'm bleaching my hair for the first time in 6 years and will be sticking on the dye on saturday morning, wish me luck!!

Well done to all your losses ladies!!! Have a great day and a great weekend!!

Oh. Well I've looked around & I'm reading what other people post. Thought I'd just jump in here.

My name is Melissa, mom of 2; Acacia 7 & Ashlynd 4.

Have my own photography business in midwestern Iowa/Illinois, run it out of my home. Mostly photograph pregnant women & newborns, also working on photographing homosexual families. Just attempting to carve my own niche around here.

Guess thas just a lil bit about myself. Hope to meet some interesting, open-minded people & this seemed like it could be the place to do that.

ASHmomma- First, LOVE the names. More people need to deviate from the norm and give their kids awesome names that stand out!

And kudos for being the open-minded photographer. You won't find many, if any, here in the south. Too many homophobes, its a real shame. But awesome that you're being the mindful photographer, we need more people like that! And welcome (like a paragraph later, lol).

You know I would LOVE to post some of my pics, I'm not sure how to do it here. Uhh. I have a myspace account if anyone ever gets that way.. it's myspace.com/fromwithinphotography so if you'd like to go there & check it out or explain how to post here. Either way.

Welcome Melissa! I think it is great that you are going that route with your photography business - I am sure there is a market for it - I like the name you chose for the business too -very fitting.

I went for my first official mammogram on Friday - my doctor started me early as my mom had breast cancer. It wasn't as bad an experience as everyone was telling me it was going to be. . . I just hope my tests come back ok. :crossed.

Going2behealthy - good to see you on the boards again!

jandaman- They told me it was pharyngitis. Through the wonderful world of the Internet, I found out that pharyngitis is a fancy name for a sore throat. How it made the right side of my mouth swell up to where I couldn't open it, I don't know. But its pretty much gone now, besides a small sore at the top of the right side of my mouth near my gum.

Finally got back on the treadmill (Mom fixed it last night, yay!) and did my hour at a ridiculous incline... hurts like you wouldn't believe. Then again, this is a dieting board, so you all probably would know. ^_^
