Good morning,
Once again, I have no plans for today so far except to pay a couple of bills. I'll probably be doing a lot of reading lol. I also have to plan for my dinner tomorrow. I think I'll make a chicken.
For those who do there finances I know a little trick. If the amount you are out divides by 9 - then you have transposed a number.

Carol - Thank you for the recipes you posted. I wrote them out and will try them as they are quick and easy which I like. If my ankle soon doesn't feel better I might end up purchasing one of those ankle braces.

Sandy - Yesterday I tried different standing exercises while waiting for my toast and coffee maker - great idea!! It gets you moving without much effort.

Mary - sorry about your having trouble with your new door especially since you waited so long for it. I hope it gets fixed to your satisfaction.

Have a good day everyone,
Karrine

I don't get too concerned about having my picture online although DH doesn't like it. I have heard it's not good to have small children's pictures online but don't understand what the difference would be.

Karrine, I bought my ankle braces back in the 1990s but I found this one online that looks similar. I bought mine in Rite Aid I think. My knee brace is similar. An elastic piece above and below a hole opening to allow the knee to bend. It also has staves on the side for support.

Hi GG! Just got home from our gs' martial arts class. Poor kid, he was way too sleepy...our son said he got to bed late. He was just too tired to focus but did perk up a bit toward the end. I always insisted my kids went to bed at a certain time. The time varied by the age. Seems like most people don't do that any more. I'm resting now and enjoying a snack of tangerines and milk. It's not the best protein because it's also a carb but I tend to get a lot of my protein from milk.

The inspector did come and look at our door yesterday and he agreed it had not been finished well. He took pictures of it. He said he would order the parts and probably do the work himself. He will be putting in the above the door and side trim as it should have been done. He said it would take a while though, we waited a long time for the door so I'm not surprised. The threshold painting is up to us and we won't do that until drier weather anyway.

Between the gym in the morning and waiting for the inspector in the afternoon plus our son coming home for the night, I did not get my kitchen cleaned. I could have but used all that for an excuse. Today I hope to get a haircut so doubt I'll get much done today too. Just feel so lazy. We were supposed to babysit today but that changed. I'm also too lazy to post my eating but I think you have an idea of how FL works and I dont' feel it helps me to post it. I already put it into the FL app and recently have been using MFP again, so it's a lot of posting. I did ok yesterday...I was hungry more yesterday and was very tempted to eat when/what I shouldn't but I toughed it out. I'm glad I did because I was down again this morning. Hope it continues to go down.

Bobbi/Sandy - I have only tried steel cut oats once and didn't like them. I just cooked them according to the package. Perhaps I would like them as Bobbi makes them but not sure because I like my oatmeal sorta flaky. I know they are supposed to be healthier though. I also do not like the instant...I think it's higher in sodium and I don't like the consistency. Tastes pasty to me. But that's just me.

The reason I took off my picture is because of some family issues. The reasons I think it can be dangerous with children's pictures is because unfortunately there are people who use the pictures for porn or even worse. sometimes I've read they just take their head and post it on another body or sometimes they can even learn where they are and contact them. Depends on the security of the site I suppose or like on FB how you have your settings set up. Its very sad but we do not live in a nice safe world.

Well I need to move.

Good afternoon GG's,

Sunny off and on here today. One time when the sun came out, I thought ~ ooo ~ sunshine ~ maybe I will walk outside today. I open the front door when I am going/thinking of going out to see/feel how I need to dress. Because I didn't “have” to go out, I decided it was too chilly and I “didn't wanna”. LOL

But, so far today, I have done better. I have eaten the right things so far. I have done part of my PT exercises, and I walked 15 minutes on the treadmill while watching a movie on Netflix. So, only one more 15 minute chunk of walking, and the mid-day PT exercises then the evening ones.

I need to cook some stuff today ~ almost out of stuff fixed to eat. A new recipe I want to try ~ One Pan Mexican Quinoa Skillet ~ recipe looks easy ~ I like easy. And I need to make some more roasted vegetables. I cook a couple things a whole batch then kind of alternate suppers ~ one time a soup and salad meal, the next day the protein thing ~ like a bean casserole or something with the quinoa and the roasted vegetables. I like cooking once ~ not having to start from scratch every day, then having a bunch of stuff ready that I just have to heat up at supper time. I am thankful that my husband eats pretty much what ever I fix for him. That reminds me, I need to make some kind of soup ~ I've used up all that I had made.

I made a soup that we liked real well, but it had a lot of beans in it and ~ though they didn't when we first started this diet ~ now several months down the road, they and the other gas producing vegetables seem to bother my stomach. So, I made a version of it for me that left out the beans. I used the spiralizer thing and did a zucchini and put in it ~ sort of looked like noodles. I also added a little corn for color (I like colorful foods), but the corn sunk to the bottom and so you didn't really see the color. I thought when I make it again, I might try using some yellow (summer) squash.

It is 10 pm now ~ I'm finally getting back here. Got the stuff cooked and the dishes cleaned up. I never did get the other half of the walking done, or the mid-day PT exercises. I did do the evening PT stretches. Some is better than none I guess. Tomorrow is another day to try.

Hope you all have a good rest.

Gayle I've always heard you should rinse beans well and let soak before cooking. I usually just used canned beans and don't notice any more issues with gas than normally after eating them. I use canned because I'm too lazy to cook them.

Here's a site about cooking them. There are many others and perhaps you've already checked them out.

Tonite I messed up and had too large a snack. It was an accident not my hunger though...I just thought I'd had the same snack before and that it was according to plan. So I went over in calories and I was already a little on the high side. I am fortunate in that I can still lose at up to about 1700 calories at this weight....for a while...it will just be slower if I don't stay around 1400. At least I am still under 1700 but won't be surprised if my weight is a little up because of my slip up. From now on, must plug everything into my software BEFORE I eat to make sure it's ok.

On the plus side, dh offered me 1/2 of his small apple pie. I would have liked to have it, but was actually surprised that it was pretty easy to say no, and this was BEFORE I got my eve snack! So guess that's a NSV I haven't had for quite a while. The other good thing is that while my calories were higher than I would like, my carbs were ok. I eat a lot of fiber and that really helps.
My bs are coming down too.

Dh has been very tired today...mostly just sitting around and sleeping off and on. Always kind of scares me when he's like that but I also know that during the cold months, he's always more tired than when it's warm and he's outside working. Our son came home to change and pack for a trip and dh didn't even know he was here until ds woke him up to hug him goodbye. Ds and I had been talking and dh had made more than one trip out to his car opening the door near where he sat sleeping and he slept all through it.

Good morning,
It is a rainy day here today and not freezing cold. Now that my left leg is better I'll be going to church today even though my right ankle is still giving me grief. At least I can walk better now that one thing is better. I'm making a chicken today and will be eating leftovers of that for the next 3 days. I weigh in tomorrow morning so I'll let you know how I did this past week.

Carol - that ankle brace you posted is exactly what I need for my sprained ankle. I'll look for one here in Canada at a store not too far from me tomorrow. This ankle doesn't seem to want to heal with rest.

Mary - I'm glad the door inspector is going to do the work himself to fix your door. Great that you are going down in weight even if you do slip a little now and then. I do have a good idea how FL works for you now and thanks for posting as long as you did.

Gayle - GFY on having a better day yesterday with your exercise and food plans. Like Mary, I use canned beans in tomato sauce because I'm too lazy to cook my own.

Have a good Sunday everyone,
Karrine

I need to make a batch of cabbage soup today....too often when I get hungry I think of BREAD. Seems like I crave it whenever I'm dieting, weird. I used to have a recipe called sweet/sour cabbage soup that I loved, can't find it. Maybe I'll check out the recipe section we used to have here, that still around?

Both o those recipes look good. I am making vegetable soup today but because DH is also eating it I have to make the old fashioned kind. A beef bone, some short ribs, cabbage, onion, canned tomatoes, mixed vegetables and barley. It's a good day for it. It's going to rain all day, the temps will be dropping, and it will change over to snow. Hopefully, not too much snow. It's about 40 degrees right now. DH also bought a loaf of french bread, but I hope to stay away from that!

I forgot about that recipe thread. Lots of great recipes there!

Thanks for reminding me Gayle, new thread is up. You want me to close this one or wait until it reaches 500? BTW...I looked for that recipe and couldn't find it. I checked my recipe box here at home and found a sweet/sour cabbage soup recipe that called for apples. I have lots of frozen apples in the freezer so I dumped in a bag and I will never, ever make cabbage soup again without apples! YUMMY, they marry so well with the cabbage.
